Looking like a dead weekend, and Captain America can’t seem to pull better numbers out of it. Shame.

I looked at going to the movies by myself tonight, I know I know, it’s Saturday. I wouldn’t normally go on a Saturday when there will be more gross people there lol. There’s really nothing I would see except things I’ve already seen. Mufasa only played in the afternoon, it would be Captain America at night, slightly interested in Black Bag because I like Fassbender, but not enough to venture out. That’s a possibility if hubby and I decide to go together while he’s off over the next two days.

Vitamin Shoppe and the gym it is!

If it's not about Disney killing careers, why are we talking about it?
Oh…because as always there’s a high amount of twist on this

Since I made the comment…I’ll tell you exactly what it meant:

Disney has has some very high profile movies/franchises in the last Number of years where they cast younger female obscure actresses into the central roles…and when those movies become criticized…the actors seem to not have a lot of opportunities afterward.

It wasn’t about Rachel zeigler at all…but a movie that had been pounded to this level could hurt her. Not that she has done herself any favors with her comments at all.

Just a theorem…it wasn’t meant to be long winded lectured…but it’s par for the course. That’s the game we play

Except a theorem is a statement that has been proven true, which this has not.

What you have is a theory, and a conspiracy one at that. And the only proof you have is "they haven't booked another large franchise", which as discussed is not the end all be all of Hollywood talent, especially young talent.

Also if you didn't want a long discourse on this then maybe don't post it here and not expect to it be challenged.

Correct…thesis is the right word. I misspoke…just as you missed the off ramp to not continue to twist and shout at the wind

Or maybe just realize that you stating an exaggerated claim, even if a "thesis", isn't going to go unchallenged. Especially when its easily proven to be false.

And what you call shouting at the wind, maybe that wouldn't happen if you spoke plainly and say what you mean instead of in code using barbs.

Weren’t the roles for young, female actors? Are you saying they should have spent more on the films to get big-name stars?

Who should have been cast instead of Zegler?

At DisneyWorld, Cinderella castle illustrates your point, Ariel has an incredible attraction and so does the story of Snow White. Mine train is a highlight in fantasyland. The story of Snow White is alive and well… no reason it shouldn’t do 600 million. There should be a built in audience to see this movie.

Cinderella (2015) had a domestic gross of $201,151,353 and an international gross of $342,363,000, totaling $543,514,353 worldwide.

The Little Mermaid (2023) earned $298,172,056 domestically and $271,454,233 internationally, for a worldwide total of $569,626,289.

Mufasa (2024) grossed $251,200,000 in the United States and Canada and $462,000,000 in other territories, amounting to a global total of $713,200,000.

It's pedantic, but didn't the above just conclude clearing 500-550? Why is it better than Cinderella and Ariel?

Snow White shouldn’t have been made…but that’s more a reflection of how they’ve gone too far with the remakes more than anything…

Should they have cast more famous for the lead roles in other movies? It’s hard to say…but it may not have hurt.

Beauty and the beast wasn’t that fantastic of this “genre”…but it made $1.266 billion 8 years ago…

Was it because hermione was in it? Yeah…ima thinking.

Would the little mermaid have been bigger if they put Selena Gomez (or someone else) in it? Hard to tell…but the question is worth asking?

And do I definitely think the SW movies would have benefited and not flatlined (which on the surface looks crazy…but in the context of Star Wars they did and now it’s a massive problem) If they had gone more known?

That one I’d say was more bad movies with wretched misunderstanding of what they were doing…couldn’t be saved

I’m not sure how much more people can expect from a 23-year-old actor.

Especially when is she is gonna be one of the highest paid actresses on the West End.

So much for Disney killing careers.

Anyone know the deal with the spanish castle they say inspired snow white? I have a fair understanding of Snow White history but off thebtop of my head this is the first I've heard of this castle.

Possibly of note: despite seeing tons of drama on FB posts from all the various Disney pages (to the point I’m noticing comments from the same people on different pages) when People Magazine posted about the movie - presumably reaching a more mainstream audience - I saw fewer hate posts, and more, “Why are they mad at this girl?” posts.

It’s possible the hate hasn’t permeated everywhere.

There were also a lot more comments about Gal and her politics/history.

If two different political sides are each boycotting one actress or the other, we have a problem.

What I don’t see is 13 year-old girls who want to go see this movie with their friends being told by their parents, “No, because one of the actresses said XYZ.“

I have a feeling 13 year-old girls could care less about seeing this movie. I think the age range is 4-8 year olds that love princesses and saw Moana 2.
