Captain America 4

Maybe it’s not fair to lump someone in that way with others, but it happens on the flip side too. Like being lumped in as a Disney Apologist or Pixie Duster just because you happen to like what content Disney is putting out. So no one is blameless here, we all tend to lump one another into groups and assign labels even if it’s not fair.

Back on topic of Cap, I saw it tonight and thought it was a solid movie. It certainly isn’t the best MCU movie ever made, but it does stand on it owns for being a good entry into the franchise. Both Mackie and Ford did a good job in their roles.

So if you are a fan of Mackie’s as you claim I wouldn’t miss it.

With the presumption it isn’t necessary, do you think watching the D+ series is helpful before seeing the film? I think we watched one or two episodes maybe two years ago but never finished it.

Of course it’s helpful but without getting into spoilers all you really need to know is Sam is Captain America now and Torres ( Danny Ramirez) is his sidekick

Helpful, maybe, but not required. They tell enough within the movie that anything "missed" from the D+ show is quickly understood for the most part.

Basically if you just go straight from End Game to Brave New World you won't really be lost.

You really believe that it's all legit. hahaha.... hahaha.

You'll be going over to the Snow White thread in 2 weeks. When Captain Falcon drops like an anchor in the deep blue sea. I predicted 450 million for Falcon, but I doubt it will even get that. You're the same people that think a movie that's had 2 reshoots only cost 180 million to make.

And yet you believe something that has no shred of proof to back it up.

Also if you’re so sure the reported budget is wrong then why only $350M? If we’re making up numbers why not $500M or $600M making it the most expensive movie on the planet. I mean if you’re going to believe a made up number anyways why not just go for the top.

And on that note why does Disney even care if the “real” number is public or not if it really is $350M+, I mean it’s not like they haven’t had huge budget movies that have released over the last 20+ years that have cost more than that. In fact they had quite a few. So it makes even less sense when you consider that and that in the end no one really cares all that much in the long run anyways.

LOL

What's this? Oh my goodness! It says it's closer to 300 million in this article.
And who is Jeff Snyder and what is his connection to the actual production? As far as I’m aware he is not a reporter, not a Hollywood insider, not any connection to Disney or Marvel, has never broken any other story about budgets before. So why should we believe him over actual trades that report on this stuff all the time. He is a failed no name actor that has like 3 credits to his name and a Podcast. So forgive me if I don’t believe a word he says, especially when it comes to a movie budget that he would have no knowledge of since he wasn’t involved with it to begin with.

Maybe actually look closer at the sources you are quoting before you relying on it as some proof.

It says reshoots AND marketing, marketing typically costs about half of what the film cost to produce. That would put production costs at $200 million, fairly close to the stated $180 million budget.

Yes… it has been pointed out that the over reported the budget was for films like Doctor Strange and The Marvels was actually equal to marketing + budget

SATURDAY PM: Disney/Marvel Studio’s Captain America: Brave New World posted a solid estimated Saturday of $27M, -33% off Friday/previews $40M. While mid-to-high $90Ms is safe place for four days, there is a possible path to $100M

SUNDAY AM: Marvel StudiosCaptain America: Brave New World came in slightly better on Saturday with $27.5M from what we saw last night; this is from the extra ticket sales that roll into Comscore overnight. Rivals firmly believe that we have the first $100M opener on hand for 2025’s domestic B.O., and Disney believes that as well. Global opening is at $192.4M which is roughly $2M higher than where Nancy and I spotted it.

Domestic take puts it as the 10th highest MCU film - not bad

We saw it Friday and enjoyed it - not top tier MCU but above average. Good amount of applause at the end and a few big cheer moments from the audience in my showing.

Think the best parts were scenes with Mackie and Ford together
Not even close to 10th highest, is it?

I don't know why people are bragging about the numbers. Ant-Man 3 (which flopped) had better numbers on the same weekend 2 years ago. When it got 17.5 million on it's preview night and 120 million in it's 4 day weekend. And it was a complete financial disaster ending with only 462 million for it's total gross.
Maybe it’s more about exceeding expectations? That’s a good point of comparison though. Cap 4 coming in lower than Ant 3 isn’t a great sign. But more recently Mufasa started slow but just kept so that could be the pattern. We’ll see what happens.

My theater had some occasional groans and most people stayed for the pointless post credit scene. There was some laughter at Agent Bat-Seraph's Yoda fight scene. Everyone walked out silent.

However, Ford and Mackie worked well together. They were fun to watch.

And you started digging and dancing all over the grave of Mufasa when it started low, and see how that turned out. So lets not start digging a grave and dancing on it just yet, its going to be interesting ride to see where this one ends up.

And I like how people say "only getting x amount", when almost every other movie would kill for those numbers. The unrealistic expectations for Disney movies to get $1B+ have to stop.
