I doubt they want to continue paying for the rights to something as its popularity wanes, and there's so little to the set of the ride itself that it should be pretty minimal to overlay. I believe they retheme RnRC cause that fits with what they do. I'm much more skeptical on what they do with Muppets 3D

This is entirely reasonable.

IF RnRC gets a Muppet overlay, it will be very cheap. I’m sure it has occurred to Disney that the cheapest solution is to cut the preshow and just use whatever music Disney labels are currently pushing. Synergy!

Guess I will be scheduling a "farewell tour"-type of trip very soon. Gotta get out there to say goodbye to Muppet*Vision 3D, Aerosmith, It's Tough to be a Bug!, DINOSAUR and Tom Sawyer's Island/Rivers of America. I can't believe I'm typing that statement out in my lifetime but here we are.

If I had to assign some kind of silver-lining to this situation, it just means that after this next one, I won't need to worry about budgeting for future WDW trips. Their lack of competence and recent "creative" decision-making failures have completely eroded my desire to return to the property after the aforementioned attractions have gone.

If I can get one last trip in to experience all of the above and more, then those parks will exist in my minds eye with them, forever. I'll probably have to cut myself off from future news cycles as well, just to spare myself the heartbreak of having to hear about whatever attractions I love that they choose to destroy next. Which I guess also means: it was nice chatting with you all! I won't be seeing ya after the June 7th closures but I still appreciate the time spent here with the folks with enough sense to continue demanding the parks put their best foots forward.

Won't lie though, sort of excited to see what other places life brings me to, after WDW releases whatever hold it had on my future excursion budgets.

Keeping the pre-show seems super easy to me. It's already a recording studio that you can just lightly re-dress with some Muppet (or whatever) references while throwing two minutes of schlock on the screen. They already produce longer segments with the Muppets live on stage for various events. Everything about the proposed overlay is already likely to be incredibly cheap because of the nature of the existing ride and pre-show.

still insane we are getting door coaster and villains. Wish the price for them wasn’t so sucky though. The land should be fun. This probably was gonna happen eventually tho. I imagine star tours is next.

Well, good news. You can walk down the “avenue we see in the film” right now, because it’s just going to be the current area with a few inexpensive props.

I'm with you man. As a kid I genuinely though riding on all the doors in the movie looked like the most fun thing possible.

For me, the door warehouse chase was “The Scene” of the movie for me, so basing the new ride on it works for me. Especially since there are two dark rides for Monsters Inc already.

Considering they've literally doubled down on the RnRC announcement today, reiterating the retheme in the blog post about the closing dates for Muppets, they're clearly continuing with Muppets RnRC. Whether or not the retheme will be good is different to if it will actually happen.
