Why does TWDC have a Brazil D23?

Is it simply an event they can MAKE MONEY and maybe give the executives a vacation in Brazil?

Sorry, but not sorry. This is going to be a giant nothing-burger yet people continue to believe that D23 events are these be-all-end-all parks announcements events.
If they announce the 5th gate at D23 Brazil... you know what that means... 6th gate announcement at D23 Anaheim next year!

So much new magic coming they may need to have one of these events every month

Confused by your opening sentence. Are you suggesting that Disney would not plan a stand along event just for a Brazil announcement due to cost? If so, you are saying that this is not just a Brazil announcement but more of a Disney fan event to garner more hype to drive future volume?

Yes, I think it’s the latter. It’s not just cost but massive logistics.

A Brazil resort is something that is announced by Bob (probably not even Josh) with a media conference and an SEC announcement. It’s a huge move. Not at a fan event they’d need massive foresight to coordinate around.

Lesser down on the totem pole a Brazil Pavilion is so unimportant in the grand scheme of things that they’d again not have the foresight and marketing blitz to host an entirely separate event around a relatively tiny addition.

The event is being hosted for reasons completely separate to anything to do with a geographically related announcement slate, is basically what I’m saying. Heck, they had a resort in Tokyo and still couldn’t coordinate anything for that conference.

Which is not to say they haven’t saved something to talk about. But it’s not a tail wagging the dog situation. They aren’t hosting this because they have something super niche to talk about. They are hosting it to reach out to a demographic that was formerly quite strong at WDW.

would building a new park in a third world country be worth the billions of dollars it would cost? I think these "ground up" projects as more of a thing of the past...It is a colossal expense...and you need a tie in to the local government that you will be hoping will be partnering with the expenses... I don't know that I would think it was worth pursuing...

I think South America deserves their own Disney parks. Judging from my September trip they really love Disney and come in very large groups. This way they don't have to come to Florida as much. And it would help with crowd control.

They could make it even more South American themed.

This is why they won't do it. They aren't going to hurt WDW by taking away such a large portion of international guests.

On the contrary, They'll just use Brazil to walk back all the D23 park announcements.

It could help with guest satisfaction though. Many people (including myself) may not go back if their experiences are continually horrible. It's not fun having to deal with loud guests on their phones and linecutters with large groups.

I’ve been in the parks with large, foreign school groups and I’ve never had a bad experience. Maybe working with teenagers makes me more calloused to their immaturity, but I’ve never been bothered by them. The most annoyed I’ve gotten at the parks were locals who wouldn’t stop talking in pre shows because they’d seen it before.

I have been to the parks and had large groups of chanting Brazilians in line with me for TOT and other attractions... it was dreadful...they also chanted and screamed through the entire ride..... It ruined the ride experience...they seemed oblivious to the entire thing... It was just something to fill time.... I have had the same experience at the park with cheerleaders....lol
