Uh, Disney why would you do this? This sets a horrible precedent anyone with more experience in here have a reason they would do this? I also thought they weren’t open to negotiations? This seems horrible, am I missing something here?

Well this is what was said in January.

In a statement released following the court case's dismissal, a Disney spokesperson told WDWMAGIC:

This is an important case with serious implications for the rule of law, and it will not end here. If left unchallenged, this would set a dangerous precedent and give license to states to weaponize their official powers to punish the expression of political viewpoints they disagree with. We are determined to press forward with our case.

Wait so they are going ahead with the appeal or are they not? The article is dated for today. I assume they are not, which I believe is a grave mistake.

They are going to be bullied now and there isn’t a thing they can do. Do they feel they can’t win? This seems pretty easy to win in my opinion. What changed?

Concerning the federal court case Disney filed, which is currently on appeal, both parties will seek to defer briefing on the appeal while negotiating a new development agreement.

The district commits to reviewing and potentially amending the 2020 Comprehensive Plan, with consultations involving Disney and other relevant parties.

The new board chair is the CEO of Bags - a major Disney vendor.

The new district administrator has worked closely with their lobbyists in the past.

It seems like the plan right now is to make the current situation work.

Disney has reserved the right to reopen the federal case, while giving up the right to enforce the development agreements as written (likewise, the District can’t sue them again in state court over the matter).

Seems like a pragmatic win.

Bridget Z and Ron Peri just have to keep zooming in for another 10 months then they’re gone too.

If Disney wiggles its way back in to have control of their business, I guess that would be a win and back to their old situation, which worked fine for 50 years.
