I don’t know why you always try to deliberately be so contentious about this kind of thing on here. The actors and writers are fighting for very valid causes. If you are against them, that means you are with the studios. But you have never been with the studios in your previous posts against “Burbank”. You can’t have it both ways.

I have no dog in this fight. I could care less what happens to Hollywood's actors and actresses, and I could care less what happens to Burbank's Senior Vice President of Toner Cartridges & Break Room Snacks.

My point, and I do have one, is that Americans don't really care about this strike or its big issues. These aren't coal miners or truck drivers, they're just Hollywood actors.

Hollywood is full of Non-Essential employees. So unless you know someone who works in Hollywood, who would care that they are on strike?

Yet you wouldn’t stop going on about the supposedly objectionable gay themes of Strange World.

Yes, I found that inappropriate for a children's movie branded as Walt Disney Animation alongside Frozen or Peter Pan.

If Strange World had been rated PG-13 and not aimed at young children, I would have no problem with it.

Similarly, I fully expect Barbie to have gay jokes and gay characters. But Barbie is rated PG-13 so that's fine, and I can't wait to see it. :D

One can apparently be both average and not average depending on what supports your argument at the moment, so maybe it is possible to have it both ways.

Good lord. Your lack of empathy for your fellow human beings would be shocking if we did not already know.

Wait. You are suddenly going to a movie?

You post an awful lot about things you claim not to care about, just as you pretend to be ignorant about matters that are repeatedly explained to you. You are much, much too intelligent to be playing these games. It often comes across as a sort of genteel trolling, if I can so put it—couched in wit but ultimately just as disingenuous as its more mainstream counterpart.

Wait. You are suddenly going to a movie?

I called it about a month ago over in the Disneyland forum. Some neighbor kids told me about the movie at a barbecue in mid June, I watched the trailer that night, and I was all in on it immediately. By the third week in June I had not only changed my signature line here, I had also convinced my sister and her entire family and their wives to all go see it with me.

I have already reserved 7 seats at the Del Mar Cinepolis for late next week. I ordered two Halloween costumes off Amazon on Prime Day; Rollerblade Ken and Cowboy Ken. I will use the Rollerblade Ken costume to terrify my family next week, and then I will save the Cowboy Ken costume to use for completely appropriate and PG rated events this Halloween.

I can not wait for Barbie.

In other words, you do comment on the content of films you’ve never seen, and not just on their box-office performance.

If you are talking about how one money-losing division (Disney+) can transfer $100 Million to another money-losing division (Walt Disney Animation) and consider that a profitable way to do business, then yes, I have complete ignorance on how that could be sustained long term.

I have no idea if you are being serious or not, or if this is just additional trolling, but if you actually go see it, I hope you enjoy it. PS - it is full of gay stuff!

I had no opinion on the plots, character development, or artistic merits of Strange World.

I do have an opinion on the appropriateness of including gay characters in children's movies branded Walt Disney Animation.

For all I know, I may have wanted to go see Strange World had it been rated PG-13.

The posts I made about a month ago when I was first excited to go see Barbie are all available on the Disneyland Miscellaneous Thoughts thread, which is a fabulous catch-all of West Coast charm and easy going casualness and laughter. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, because of that. You kind of have to be a West Coaster to get it.

I assumed Barbie would have gay characters and lots of gay content and sexual double entendre'. It's rated PG-13 for a reason. You can already tell that one kid in the suspenders at the dance party is gay, and you only see him for like 2 seconds. 🤣

Ladies and gentlemen, a gay man made the above post.

When I was a child, elementary school-aged, I knew I liked guys. Gay kids exist. I know, because I was one! Gay characters in family movies isn't inappropriate — we exist in real life. They won't turn kids gay in the same way that watching exclusively straight media didn't turn me straight.

I didn't like Strange World and find it to be one of Disney's weakest animated films, but the gay character wasn't the problem with it.

I fully understand all that, trust me.

Now you just have about 200 Million American parents and grandparents who pay for children's movie tickets to convince.

I didn't like Strange World and find it to be one of Disney's weakest animated films, but the gay character wasn't the problem with it.

I never saw anyone rave about it. It looked weird to me, I didn't like their noses and the art style. The plot twist I learned about was very clever, and could/should have been a good Tomorrowland attraction replacement for Star Tours, but the movie flopped and was very bad apparently. So... :(

Apparently. @LittleBuford remembered it and pulled it out of thin air about 30 minutes ago...

I don't find gay themes appropriate for children's movies branded Walt Disney Animation. I think movies should be rated PG-13 before they bring up sexuality of any kind, gay or straight.

But you know what I do find appropriate???

Starting the Cocktail Hour promptly at 7:30pm this time of year. So, you'll all have to excuse me... 🍸

Go have your cocktail and reflect. The fact that you claim to be a gay man who is okay with allowing passionate animated kisses between straight Disney characters but you have an absolute freak out over a less than two minute gay crush another Disney movie is unreal.
