As suspected Perlmutter is a major proponent for Peltz, which makes you wonder if he's out for blood against Feige and Iger for essentially taking Marvel away from him.
Kinda shocked why Perlmutter has never bothered leaving or was fired, especially after getting embarrassed by Black Panther being a huge hit after suppressing it for so long.

Not trying to argue, but I don’t see how it’s a bad plan? Sure, Disney is in the most vulnerable phase of the plan right now, but it seems to be working.

Disney was playing Robin Hood with their own business. Stealing from the rich (parks) to give to the poor (streaming)
I wouldn’t exactly consider the mess Disney is in at the moment working…sure the lights are on, but I’m not sure anyone is home keeping things clean and taking out the trash

This guy is dangerous…there is no question to that.
You know who else is? Bob Iger…and his puppet BOD.
No actual Disney fan should give him a mulligan for his cowardice or corporate mismanagement that resulted in Slaphead.
He’s was never good enough for that.
So what should happen? An immediate, legit outside search for a new management team - blended with who’s left that is worth it longterm…and an announcement and a reasonable transition as they fix mistakes.
2 years, Bob…for ONCE do what you damn say you will. People are on to your game. And it’s as stale as Tom Brady was last night.

Think about how few businesses have the luxury of taking time to build their subscriber base and figure out profitability. Very few. Netflix had that Silicon Valley startup money. Disney had brainwashed audiences and steady demand at the entrance gate.

Because you can’t suck all the longterm stability out of your most stable/core business segment in order to fuel one that is a flyer…
Gotta pull back and look big picture a little.

Not sure what “mess” you keep referring to. How did you expect it would go if one of the largest movie studios in history changed its business from a traditional model to an entirely new one?

I'll disagree with you here, I think he is smart. Look at the sites/social media, and the over-the-top love he is getting. Cast members crying in happiness, standing ovations in the parks. The majority of the policies the fans HATE/cringe over were fully under him or the the process started under him, yet he is BELOVED now for taking a couple away. He maximized his money for 15 years, bailed to maximize his money while sticking it to the customers, and then set the next guy up to look worse than him so that people miss him. The chance to come back and eliminate a couple hated things to make him even more loved by the fans was just a lucky break.

I’m no expert…but I believe they weren’t supposed to be profitable…
They just posted a lot bigger hole than the brokers are comfortable with. It calls all the promises about profits into question - it’s a snowball at the top of the mountain

It's called INVESTING -- Established companies do it with their own resources, upstarts need to borrow or find investors to do it. Nothing Robin Hood about it... in other companies they call it 'emerging technologies' or whatever.
Not every market is in the black from the start. Disney communicated this from the start.

He’s actually done better than i would have imagined all those years ago…
But just like his predecessor…it’s time. It’s past time. Nothing in his lamp to rub anymore.
Do I want them raided and drained? No. But it will be at some point unless Iger and his cronies sacrifice THEMSELVES on the alter of Disney.
Ron Miller did it. Eisner did it (fact). Hell…even Roy E did it.
This isn’t a company like DuPont…so please don’t leave it like Sears, GE or Kodak

It’s really not a question of intent or strategy…it’s whether they bet on the wrong horse and will it sink them or make them more susceptible to what’s going on right now.
You were never gonna get people to pay $350 a day to ride the teacups to build something that they’ll pay $50 a month for at home for a minor distraction. The world has too much out there to gobble up time now
Larger than expected. But it was going to be large anyway. Disney's guidance was that about this time would be the largest deficit that D+ throws before eventually becoming profitable in 2024 (that's when they planned to hike up the sub cost).
Wall Street used to be on board with that guidance and buoyed Disney stocks over it. Now they're panicking.
When Netflix had two quarters of declining subs, Wall Street panicked and dumped the stocks of all the streamers, including the two most likely to be profitable in the end: Both Netflix and Disney. That other media companies have fared far worse (see Disney's power point rebuttal) over this Wall Street flight.
Remember Wall Street? How they kept being nervous about traditional entertainment media because of the cord cutting? They're now punishing the solution.
Mind you: This is mostly the speculator cohort of Wall Street. The ones that trade large amounts of stock daily hoping to 'beat the system.' Long term investors are still issuing a 'buy' on Disney stock.
