'Strange World' Disney's 2022 Animated Film

You might be surprised… I always make it a point to check which movies I have not seen of the ones nominated and watch any I have not seen before the Oscars ceremon…I don’t always agree…but I did last year…CODA was my favorite movie of the year and it won best picture…I think if more people saw it they would agree…it was a crowd pleaser
When I was younger I loved dramas and movies that made me think, now I just want a movie to make me forget about all the ugliness in the world, I blame Whistleblower, a great movie that still haunts me.

So... Strange World thread... that this is...
No, this is a thread about Academy Awards politics, Coda, Chloe Zhao and the box office performance of Bros. Take your weird Strange World obsession somewhere more appropriate!

In all seriousness, though, I maintain what I said earlier that we just need to wait and see before passing judgment on the film. Strange World could be an unexpected gem that simply had bad marketing. Many bad Disney movies have had great trailers and many great Disney movies have had terrible trailers.

It does happen but they rarely win. Some art house type film usually wins.
It happened exactly one time - Black Panther, unless you would like to include Birdman, which wasn’t technically a superhero movie, and as others have mentioned, Joker, also not a superhero movie.

Which is perfectly fine except those awards were in Production Design, Costume Design and Original Music. These are all pretty minor awards. I'm surprised Marvel doesn't win those more often. That is the kind of stuff Lucasfilm won all the time back in the day. Black Panther still didn't win Best Picture. That went to Green Book which was a far superior movie. So an African American woman won best Costume Design? I'm not sure why her race was a big deal there. What is more amazing is Return of the King and The Shape of Water won Best Picture and they are both fantasy movies that almost never win Best Picture.

Mine was in response to you asking why Eternals was not up for best picture and then I made a sarcastic comment about how superhero movies are always up for best picture. I wasn't talking about technical categories.

Not that my world is indicative of the rest of the world. But at Dinner my oldest daughter and my son both said they wanted to see this. Not in the theater but once it hits D+. They both have had almost zero interest in Disney animation for the last 3 years or so. So at least this sparked a bit of interest.

I think it is better suited for Disney+ than the theaters. Because it doesn't seem to have the same mass appeal that other Disney films have.

Another winning post. I’m sure you did some extensive polling across the country to come to this conclusion…

…No of course not. You are just another person who desperately wants to be some kind of insider or movie expert but truly has zero clue.
