Comprehension is important Phroo just like using proper English is important such using "mute point" instead of "moot point". Now the big difference between myself and Mad Mickey is that I am not making up some silly scenario up and selling it like it's the truth. I have no idea if the movie is going to be a hit or a flop and therefore I don't come on here and spew nonsense that a movie, which hasn't been released yet, should debut on D+ because it doesn't have mass appeal.

I would ask if that makes sense or not but that's a mute point.

I think it is better suited for Disney+ than the theaters. Because it doesn't seem to have the same mass appeal that other Disney films have.
Just FYI, we went to that stupid Julia Roberts George Clooney movie yesterday and they had a trailer for Strange World. The very crowded audience were we with seemed to love it.

I don’t understand why people are reacting negatively to what we’ve seen of this film. The animation is quite good, the tone seems right, and overall concept is pretty classic. Maybe I’m missing something?

There are a select few people on here who like to pretend they are some kind of movie experts who make up facts and opinions based on nothing and then get upset when they are proven to be wrong. Also the same people just like to be contrarians and say things to try and get others angry. Real internet warriors.

It's because there is a gay character in it. There are a few posters on this site — who I will not name — who seem to always pre-emptively target projects that feature an LGBTQ character or people of color. Anything they view as "woke." They delight in the poor box office of Lightyear and Bros, whine about how the new Black Panther movie will suck without T'Challa (despite not actually liking the first Black Panther movie anyway), complain about getting a Black Little Mermaid, etc.

Now Strange World could very well end up being a bad movie. But the existing hatred for it comes from those who hate gay characters being featured in family movies.

And the funny thing that happens is if the movie does well they either just shut up and vanish for awhile or they make some lame excuse why they were wrong or they try and still spin it to be correct. And if the movies does not perform as expected then they yell and say, "See I was right all the time." These people are just sad trolls.

Thank you for saying what I have been thinking for a long time now. Your above statement is the God's honest truth.

Hmmm. So, according to some folks here, people who look at the trailer and think, "Wow, that looks bad", are automatically homophobes? That it's simply unconceivable that the negative reactions might be based on terrible, unappealing character designs (except for the dog) and an uninteresting-looking premise that smacks of the flop "Atlantis, The Lost Empire"?

The new trailers seem to be focused on the dad character, who's probably the most visually unappealing of the bunch. His backstory about connecting with his father makes me wonder why I should care.

Beats me why I should have to point this out again, but movie trailers are supposed to intrigue audiences. If the trailers fail, it's not the audience's fault. BTW, I haven't seen a trailer yet that focuses on the gay character(s). So how could negative reactions be based around them?

Some peoples' habits of labelling others who disagree with them is very off-putting, and kind of immature. Might want to tone it down a bit.

I don't have an issue with the dad's character design, but I do think revealing the father in the trailer was a wrong move as it appears like it will be spoiling what is supposed to be a mystery for the first half of the movie.

The lesbian couple wasn't AT ALL the focus of Lightyear trailers or TV spots, yet it was what dominated the online news and discourse surrounding the movie. So I'm not entirely convinced that the gay character in Strange World isn't going to cause this movie to be targeted more harshly. But we shall see. As I said earlier, there is always the possibility that the movie could suck. IDK, I haven't seen it!

Maybe if Lightyear had been released about six months earlier (November or December 2021), before the Disney vs. Desantis situation, it's possible that the lesbians in Lightyear wouldn't have attracted as much attention or have been viewed in such a political manner.

Well said and on point…plus when is being woke towards the feelings of others a bad thing… I am confused to the whole being woke is such an awful thing

There is extremely well documented pattern on this website. Ghost93's post was 100% on point.

Seems like Disney + filler entertainment. Why go to a theater?
It seems pretty elaborate to me, and it is getting a Thanksgiving weekend release which has historically (pre-COVID) been one of the busiest movie going weekends of the year. As I've said before, I seriously do not think they would be giving this such a prime release date if they thought they had a bomb on their hands. It doesn't make sense.

But....we don't know what we don't know. If it gets great reviews, I will be there. If it doesn't, I won't.
