I also suffered from being the "bitten one" whenever we visited Florida. On the last trip there I got some soap from Basin at downtown Disney Springs which was an anti bug one. Once I started using it the biting stopped. Don't know if they still have it but it may be worth a shot.

I need that soap!

Category 3 outer bands is not only mandatory evac but life threatening. I would really look at evac KW by the weekend if projections are correct. My former peer who lives there left before Irma , took many many hours to get out of arms way.

I can't imagine trying to evacuate from the Keys. Central FL is bad enough

If people react like they did for Irma YES to everything you said @Figgy1 everything will start to disappear. Sadly people will only be out for themselves and take more than they need (and then of course try to return it when the storm is over).

Today is grocery day. We’ll go earlier rather than later.

Our friends are gone. They’ve given us additional advice on how to ride out storm bands, assuming there is no evacuation order.

And we actually gave them a bit of advice they hadn’t thought of.

Hopefully we get to spend Tuesday with them as well. It also looks like we’ll all be in Pigeon Forge just after Christmas. Yay!

Looks like the storm will be a cat 3 crossing Fl around Naples heading to the NE. The keys I would imagine will see rain and tropical storm winds. Keep a close eye on it and leave early if needed stay safe. Should know by Tuesday if you have to bug out

The cone is 200 miles wide or bigger than the width of FL. I lived through a Cat 3. It’s major damage and power out for weeks.

Keep safe, pre Irma, Key West residents left days before the hurricane Irma hit, bumper to bumper on US1 heading north.

Orlando Sentinel reporting landfall as a Category 3 hurricane. That’s destruction and power outages for weeks. I’ve been in one.

Our friends were asking what the water sitch was at Publix. We were there at the time, and they were next door at the UPS store, so we waited 5 mins for them.

They got checked into their new site, 31 miles northeast of here. They were told not to completely set up, because the moment the storm was named, that campground was shutting down.

I spoke with the office staff this morning. They seemed a little more mellow, but advised they would text blast to keep everyone up to date, but for now, relax and enjoy the day.

Grocery stores were fine. Gas stations were lined up, 3 and 4 deep at each island.

DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in advance of the storm. Again, we’ve been told to stay put for a bit, until we know where it’s going. No sense driving into it.
