Rise is pretty awesome, but the room of stormtroopers was a big let down. You'd think they could have more than a head or two move in the whole crew. The penguins at Muppet Vision 3D are far more impressive.

I really enjoy ROTR and much of the ride, but it seems like a few shoulder or head twitches here would have made a huge difference here in realism.
I agree with this - They talk about how many Animatronics are in that room, but really they seem more like Animated Figures, and some of them mannequins at best. The scale of the room is impressive, and it makes a strong first impression, but it's clear they want to usher you out of there quickly for 2 reasons - 1) So the room is clear for the next incoming Transport, and 2) Because if you look around for more than a few seconds the thrill wears off and you realize it's just a big empty room with a bunch of plastic toys.

Storm Troopers have a reputation for being imperfect henchmen, so it would have been nice to see a few of them struggling to maintain formation in a character-appropriate way. Make one have an "itch" he can't seem to scratch through the armor, make one turn to another and make a comment about some prisoner's funny hat with the big ears, have one that starts to doze off until a command comes through to snap out of it . . . there's plenty of room to be creative with this, but having even a few that are more animated would legitimize the others and suggest they might also be more than empty suits.

Or could you imagine if they had one or two played by live actors who get called out of the lineup while guests pour out of the Transport ship? Seeing two of them break formation and walk off to tend to other business might help suggest that at any point the others could follow suit and leave.

I don’t understand why the 401st doesn’t have an invitation to just play in Galaxy’s Edge. I know there’s hurdles with volunteers at a business and issues of liability, but they figured it out for Star Wars Weekends.

If it isn't the faux edutainment you thought it would be, is that going to affect the coaster ride for you?
They had turned off the pre-show for Hagrid's Coaster at Universal, it hasn't lessened the lines. It is still
a great ride.
I lost count how many rooms and hallways there were, too many IMO. Ride vs wait and frustration of repeat breakdown/close queues for weather didn't help. The frustration was not worth the ride. Apparently I lucked out last year with a 60 minute wait starting where you enter the building. That was the 5th attempt to ride in a week.

60 minute wait from where you entered the building? Extremely unusual. It's almost always 30-35 minutes (max) from that point unless there are operational issues.

Off topic, I know, but it seems to have gotten more reliable over the past 6-9 months. And they've been turning on the pre-show (at least intermittently) as of the last couple of weeks.

So couldn't they have just brought back the Rodak screen pre-show, but updated that film to projection map the hell out of it, put the load station where you normally load into the cars, rocket you back to the dinosaur's and then rocket you out to the new gravity building.... then rocket you back to the former "unload" theater, where you exit?

I mean THAT would have been paying proper tribute to Epcot, as well as cool as all get out!

Honestly a pretty good deal

Overall it looks pretty good. It should though, given the cost. This little mixtape cgi moment in the galaxarium worries me, though. I obviously don’t know the context but I thought this portion was going to be presented as a more serious, faux edutainment to setup the story of it being a pavilion to showcase their science and tech. Whatever this is seems out of place in that layering and scene setting.

The galaxarium is intended to be a live feed from around the galaxy. I think the cassette floating in space is going to be a plot point to explain why how the Guardians are involved in the story. They show up to retrieve the tape and end up mucking up space and time somehow. Explains why the tape was featured in the add too, it’s central to the story.

Good grief.

While there are limited environments to show, I believe the focus on the Star Blaster and Galaxarium are somewhat to prevent story spoilers. There are maybe 1-3 other spaces they could show without giving away things, but they are admittedly less impressive.
If I've learned one thing of late regarding WDW builds (and it's a thing I used to pride myself in doing) it's not to come to conclusions too quickly.
The Novacorp. ship out front is just one example.
It thought it was finished when the support stand was welded tube steel, but they're still adding things out there like the recent paint of the ground beneath it.
I thought the Starcruiser was looking pretty terrible because they held so much back from us, and didn't even show us good things when the general consensus was how lousy the whole thing was likely to be.
So...
I'm going to wait to see the full picture here with the Guardians ride.
If anything, I'm of the belief that it's going to be very well done and a lot of fun.

Got a couple of questions about D23 previews if someone can help;
- How quickly on average do these events sell out? Are tickets gone in seconds?
- I'm out there for the event date and leave just a few days before the opening day for Guardians. I've been looking forward to riding for years. Do you think its worth joining D23 to be able to go to this event?
- If I did sign up, I travel in just over 30 days from the UK so if the membership card doesn't arrive by then would I still be able to get in?

It's so tempting, especially if it's going to be my only way of riding and I've got a good chance of getting tickets
