EPCOT Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

Overall it looks pretty good. It should though, given the cost. This little mixtape cgi moment in the galaxarium worries me, though. I obviously don’t know the context but I thought this portion was going to be presented as a more serious, faux edutainment to setup the story of it being a pavilion to showcase their science and tech. Whatever this is seems out of place in that layering and scene setting.

Remember how the PR for RotR kept showing the stormtrooper-filled hanger and AT-AT room to get guests excited about the scale and detail of the ride in the weeks before it opened?

The Guardians equivalent seems to be the galaxarium.

That comparison is worrying.
Yeah I've been thinking the same thing. The real visual focus appears to be on the galaxarium and the star blaster outside. I'm really not sure of how much visual environment there is to really show.

I don't think there will be much elements, maybe a few projector/screens here and there.

Totally - For all the secrets they kept with Rise, they were vocal that this was a game-changing attraction that combined multiple ride systems, was gut-punchingly immersive, showcased a bunch of Animatronics, and took you on a journey unlike anything else.

Here, the only things they seem to be pushing are the spaceship out front, the planetarium, and the fact that this is "one of the longest indoor coasters ever built . . . and it spins!".

Rise was talked up and managed to live up to the hype. Their language with this one seems much more considered and conservative, and I doubt that's an accident. If this was the best thing since sliced bread they'd be letting us know.

Rise is pretty awesome, but the room of stormtroopers was a big let down. You'd think they could have more than a head or two move in the whole crew. The penguins at Muppet Vision 3D are far more impressive.

I really enjoy ROTR and much of the ride, but it seems like a few shoulder or head twitches here would have made a huge difference here in realism.

In terms of Stormtroopers in that universe would they really move much? I know that when standing at attention in the military I was not allowed to fidget and move much.

While there are limited environments to show, I believe the focus on the Star Blaster and Galaxarium are somewhat to prevent story spoilers. There are maybe 1-3 other spaces they could show without giving away things, but they are admittedly less impressive.

If it isn't the faux edutainment you thought it would be, is that going to affect the coaster ride for you?
They had turned off the pre-show for Hagrid's Coaster at Universal, it hasn't lessened the lines. It is still
a great ride.

But the hanger and AT-AT room are just as much spoilers for RotR as later sections of the Guardians queue would be. The two are quite parallel - you begin in one environment, working with one group, exciting event occurs (presumably in a pre-show) and suddenly you are in a completely different environment, under the control of a different group. They've already showed us the very end of the queue, the load area, so we know the aesthetic shifts.

And the complete lack of show building pics. I can’t wait to see all the show scenes added since the last show building pics. I was told by many on here there were lots to be added.

I guess I consider an opening act like a heavily themed queue as part of the attraction. Rides don’t exist in a vacuum.

And I think that this floating cgi cassette tape just looks a little cheesy and like someone needed to self-edit their “oh, you know what would look really sweet here to jazz up these visuals” instincts. So, yeah, the buildup of a pre show and themed queue will affect the coaster ride for me, because I think of them as a singular experience.

But maybe it makes sense story wise! It looks different than what I was expecting and what I had believed to be the backstory of why this pavilion exists in THIS theme park, but I’ll keep an open mind. I just didn’t think that we were being invited to disco night at the planetarium.
