It was causing corrosion and other issues. The wrong type of fog system was installed.

So basically they could just install an updated fog system during a refurbishment, but they choose not to?

... if Disney isn't willing to fix the ride's multi-million dollar audio animatronic... which is pivotal to the entire plot of the ride... then they're not going to install a brand new fog system just for an improved ambience

Fog system wouldnt be as expensive

It's not solely ambiance; it was an important effect. You're not supposed to be able to see the broken track until you emerge from the fog and it's right in front of you.

Regardless, the main point was already mentioned above -- it would be much cheaper to fix that effect than the yeti.

We fly back to the UK on the 28th, which means that we'll be seriously hoping that we manage to ride on the 27th! Just by chance the Park Reservations I made already have us at Epcot on the 27th, so that's one part sorted...

Glad someone else noticed this too! I sure hope it was just a double (and a poor one at that) for this commercial and that they have BC for the ride itself...

I imagine this will just be for the add spot. It's likely that they only had Cooper for a few sessions and didn't get the necessary audio for the advertisement.
