After not receiving the announcement for Rat, I was shocked to find out that I just received this email, too!
Wish I was AP and lived near by
For the loading to get to the flying position kind of. As far as I saw it didn't rotate mid ride... or did I miss that? It's also a flying coaster vs what GotG is. But most importantly, it's Disney, let's be honest with their track records I don't expect much. The rotation technology Vekoma used for F.L.Y. is very similar to what they are using for Cosmic Rewind.
Damn I was hoping the ride would pack a little bit of a punch. At least to Everest levelReports I read were less thrilling than RnR or possibly even EE.
I am not shocked with a 42" height limit. I think some will argue which of the two (RnR or EE) is more thrilling too. To me RnR outside of the launch is pretty bland for an inversion coaster. EE at least feels cooler for longer and so I rate it above RnR. All aside with a 42" height limit (EE is 44" RnR is 48" and BTM is 40" as reference points) I don't expect it to be too terribly intense.Damn I was hoping the ride would pack a little bit of a punch. It won't be for that weekend. Somewhere in the second and third week of May seems most likely.Just got the preview email also. I'm hoping it's not just for memorial day weekend. Don't want to pop in for a ridiculously packed park
It loads and leaves the station in that position. It then rotates before the first launch. The base of the trains are extremely similar to GotG and the mechanism is the same. This can't be seen because the park is very hard on cameras. For the loading to get to the flying position kind of. As far as I saw it didn't rotate mid ride... or did I miss that? And the prototype to show what exactly happens:
I have much more faith this'll have less issues then Intamin stuff at opening. Vekoma has been very reliable with their current generation of coasters opening.
Which will happen more often mid ride and I worry that coordination will not work right. Again lack of faith in Disney I know....It’s the same rotation mechanism and was designed to allow mid-ride changes for show scenes.
They can't do all ILL because the system isn't flexible. Why not? (Serious question)
The coaster is manufactured by Vekoma, not Disney.Yes, as I said I saw the rotation before launch. I was stating it didn't do it mid ride the way GotG does from the video I saw of a test ride, just at the beginning and end. GotG had a 360 rotation I thought as well which this didn't. I suppose my lack of faith in Disney is showing.... lol

Thanks captain obviousThe coaster is manufactured by Vekoma, not Disney.
Velocicoaster? Was an awesome ride! You don’t need a shoulder harness for upside-down maneuvers, but as stated, this has none.
