Is there a thematic problem with a train going through a tunnel?
It's more the aesthetics. This isn't even a tunnel through anything. It's just a tunnel through open air. There are also more elegant solutions. If you look at Marc Davis's Thunder Mesa, the WDWRR would've gone "through the mountain".

Hmmm...I believe Bio was behind me on the Peoplemover taking those. I was curious which blogger it was since they were firing shots off like crazy at the big subjects. Random I know, but neat!

Its a shame they never themed the tunnels other than the brief splash mt peek. The pirates one is short but its pretty dingy looking. Some kind of mural would be nice.

DLP did a good job integrating the train and Pirates. You see into the caves below.

I dont think so but if its kind of long i would at least want some lighting. To be honest some art for the new ride and or tommorow land as a whole thats illuminated with lighting inside the tunnel would not only beat a plain tunnel but play right into Disney's desire to market....ANYTHING.
