It wasn’t exclusive. That is a special extra that really only started with Hong Kong Disneyland.Pretty sure it was actually a Shanghai exclusive for 5 years so I would assume they weren’t planning on doing it anywhere else
anyone know when the new tron is coming out?
TR3N: Development HellIts been up in the air for a decade now. Always in development, about to happen...and then cancelled.
I believe its a Disney+ project now.
Not greenly yet but director and star have been signed. Probably 2023 on D+anyone know when the new tron is coming out?
It's still a movie... probably. Tron: Ares or Tron: Destiny...Its been up in the air for a decade now. Always in development, about to happen...and then cancelled.

That’s fair. It would not have been terribly costly to modify the canopy and the approach to the ride. Track layout and interior sets could have remained the same as SDL to achieve the required budget savings. After all, they already had to modify the canopy and approach a bit. They aren’t a carbon copy. The Haunted Mansion is a great example of what I'm talking about (and it's certainly not the only one) regarding the way Disney operated in the past.
They didn't just rebuild the one from Disneyland at the Magic Kingdom because the styles didn't match. Instead, they designed a whole new facade so that it would properly fit into its surroundings. Star Tours is another example of building something new specifically to fit into Disney-MGM instead of just copying what existed at Disneyland.
That's what's missing with TRON; they didn't bother making any changes to improve the fit in its new location.
The canopy is incredibly expensive so modifying it would have removed significant savings from lifting the design. That’s fair. I don’t inherently mind ride clones. They make sense and you give good examples of ones that worked.
They already had to modify its structure to accommodate the train, I’d imagine. I’d be rather surprised if the supports have identical placement as in SDL, and if they had to move supports, the structure had to be modified. Ride clones are not typically literal clones. Even the two Galaxy’s Edges are not identical in structure or aesthetic. The canopy is incredibly expensive so modifying it would have removed significant savings from lifting the design.
Did they? Maybe thats why the choo choo is such a tight squeeze? They already had to modify its structure to accommodate the train, I’d imagine. A case of Disney greed and hubris. It’s performance wasn’t so much bad as it was just not up to Disney’s unrealistic expectations. Uprising also probably would have done better on something like Disney+ instead of the middle of the night on Disney XD.
They don’t usually leave gaps in a design just because they might need a train to pass and this wasn’t originally designed with MK in mind.Did they? Maybe thats why the choo choo is such a tight squeeze?
Is it a space that is present in Shanghai? Maybe they looked and thought the train would fit in existing space or maybe it was designed that way from the start. They don’t usually leave gaps in a design just because they might need a train to pass and this wasn’t originally designed with MK in mind.
I’m not enough of an expert bin the design. Maybe someone else is? But such shifts are very common with clones. I am confident that this isn’t literally a carbon copy. Clones never are. The walkways here have a completely different orientation for one. The point was that further modification of the canopy was certainly possible. They chose not to.Is it a space that is present in Shanghai? Maybe they looked and thought the train would fit in existing space or maybe it was designed that way from the start.
No, TRON3, while profitable, underperformed based on expectations. There were rumors that when the "Tomorrowland" movie didn't do well that Disney changed their mind on TRON 3 also, which, if true, is really short-sighted. Not all sci-fi is the same and those movies are VERY different from each other (for the record, I really enjoyed both TRON Legacy and Tomorrowland)
I'm thinking the canopy panels are the same leading to the same shape. Supports may have been designed to fit both locations. I have no real knowledge if that happened but the rumor is the choo choo didn't fitI’m not enough of an expert bin the design. Maybe someone else is? But such shifts are very common with clones. I would imagine supports moving would lead to other changes, no? And it is clear they had to make changes since the train will fit in the end.I'm thinking the canopy panels are the same leading to the same shape. The canopy does not have a lot of columns, most of the columns seen in photos are for the coaster. They exist at the end of the curves that effectively create a series of arches for support. The train goes through the canopy under the curves so it avoids them. Moving the columns in any significant way would mean changing the shape of the curves.I’m not enough of an expert bin the design.
