All right then. Here's my project. Enjoy!

The Imagineer—Project 2

WALL-E’s Space Adventure

When the task of designing a new dark ride for Disney’s Hollywood Studios arose, I became to consider which area of the park needed something to disperse crowds better, and what Disney movie had very little to no recognition in any of the Disney parks. I also wanted to consider what movie had some iconic socenes that could be molded together to create something incredible. One of the more undeveloped yet heavily trafficked sections of Disney’s Hollywood Studios is Pixar Place. It has only one ride, that being probably the most popular attraction in the park in Toy Story Mania, and a quick service restaurant. However for this new dark ride, based on the hit movie WALL-E, the restaurant, known as the Hey Howdy Hey Take Away, found across from Toy Story Mania and behind the Great Movie Ride, will be replaced by the new attraction. This attraction is on the level Peter Pan’s Flight or Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride as far as scope.

The Exterior and Queue

The outside of this attraction has the WALL-E’s Space Adventure sign. Set firmly above the entrance and exit to the ride are signs designating each, which are clearly marked by signs. All the lettering is similar the lettering seen in the movie WALL-E. The queue itself winds through the halls of WALL-E’s trailer and has a few of the same things seen in his trailer in the film, and some of the more noticeable items are interactive. Some examples include his lunchbox, which periodically pops up to reveal his little cockroach, and his TV, which is an integral part of the queue. It provides the back story to the ride in the form of the video from the movie in which the president of the Buy-n-Large which in the movie polluted the Earth tells people about their plan to clean up the planet while they are on a cruise in space. Guests then proceed to the ride loading station, where they board their vehicles, seats similar to the types the humans sit in on their space cruise. These seats can hold two rows of two people. The ride follows a track embedded in the floor, similar to almost all dark rides.

Ride-through/Story

1A. EVE Arrives-You depart the loading station and enter the first scene. On the right is a large spaceship with EVE, a small white robot projecting a blue light in front of the huge spacecraft. On the left WALL-E is peeking over one of the large stacks of trash looking enamored with EVE. As EVE continues to scan the area, the vehicles pass out of the room and into the second scene.

1B. Pursuing EVE-When you enter the next room, EVE can be seen ahead of you with her arm pointed out as if she just fired one of her rockets. A big boom can be heard from behind the guests as a burst of flames erupts. When the smoke clears, WALL-E is seen peeking from behind one of the stacks waving to EVE. (At this point the vehicles have turned around to watch WALL-E.) The vehicles turn back around and see WALL-E’s truck in front of them.

1C. WALL-E’s Truck-You pass into the truck and see WALL-E and EVE sitting next to each other watching the show tunes video on WALL-E’s TV together on your left. One of the shorter scenes in the ride, you move out onto an escarpment overlooking the mountains of trash.

1D. WALL-E and EVE-You pass onto a cliff where WALL-E has wrapped EVE in some old Christmas lights and is overlooking hundreds of stacks of trash with her hand in his hand. EVE has shut down and has a blinking green light clearly representing a plant on the front of her as WALL-E stares into her blank eyes longingly. The vehicles suddenly start up at a very steep angle towards the polluted Earth sky and into the next scene at the same angle.

2. WALL-E in Space-After passing through a small pitch black room where rocket launch noises can be heard, you enter a room full of stars. A large rocket ship with a frightened looking WALL-E clinging to the hull of the ship is on your left. A large model of the planet Earth is below you, with a grossly polluted atmosphere. You then move slowly along with the path of the rocket and into the next room.

3A. The Hanger of the Axion-You now land in the hangar of the Axiom, and are met by M-0 on your right, the obsessive cleaning robot, as it follows WALL-E. EVE is disappearing through a pair of automated doors on a floating stretcher on your left, and the vehicles rise toward a large window overlooking the hangar and enter the bridge of the ship.

3B. The Bridge-You pass into the window and enter the bridge. All the windows are sealed in heavy lead casing. AUTO can be seen hanging from the ceiling on the right, repeating over and over again, “Request Denied. I'm Sorry Captain.” The captain of the Axiom can be seen in his chair below AUTO, looking up at the mutinous auto-pilot. You pass through a set of double doors at the far end of the bridge and enter the next scene.

3C. The Repair Ward-When you enter the repair ward, you see many projected blue containment barriers, holding robots in them on both sides of you. At the end of the room on a white screen shadows are projected on the screen showcasing the cleaning of EVE. However, the shadows appear as if she is being tortured. Suddenly, on your right, an animatronic WALL-E appears to be getting restless as he screams for EVE. The vehicles then begin to pick up speed as they burst through the screen and into the next scene.

3D. Rogue Robots-You enter the next scene almost achieving speeds of 20 MPH. You begin to zoom through the hallways as a lot of the robots from the repair ward, WALL-E, EVE, M-O, and many of the robot catchers careen around you as screens flash the ROGUE ROBOTS message to the rest of the ship with the picture of WALL-E and EVE. You continue through the hallway and enter the next scene, departing the largest and most detailed scene in the attraction.

3E. Spacewalk-You enter the next scene. The track below you has seemingly disappeared by being coated in black paint that matches the set of this room. You are in space, surrounded by stars, and to your left WALL-E and EVE are sharing a romantic spacewalk with each other in front of the Axiom. One of the most iconic scenes in the ride, the WALL-E and EVE are seemingly just drifting in space. In fact, they are. This is the New Technology in this ride. WALL-E and EVE are held in their place floating in the air by extremely powerful electro-magnets hiddden in the ceiling and floor that controls the robots' movements by activating at various times according the an LPS system embedded in the WALL-E and EVE figures that transfers their position to a control computer which, through a complicated matrix found within the magnets, gives commands directing which magnets are to be activated. Therefore, every spacewalk WALL-E and EVE have is a different experience for guests. You depart this scene and enter the final locale on the Axiom.

3F. By the Pool-You return to the Axiom where all the people and chairs have begun piling up at the bottom of the tilted ship on your right. You see a dying WALL-E holding open the holo-detector for EVE while she is placing the shoe-plant into it. The captain is in the center of the room triumphantly standing over a shut down AUTO, the wheel lying motionless on the floor. Your chairs continue into the penultimate scene of the ride.

4A. WALL-E?-You have returned to Earth, and see an EVE AA and a WALL-E AA looking into each others eyes directly in front of you. A concerned group of humans stands behind looking over the two robots. As EVE repeats “WALL-E?” over and over again, she kisses him, seemingly triggering his memory. “EVE?” he says gazing into her eyes. EVE begins to rejoice as you move into the final scene.

4B. A New Earth-All the humans and robots have gathered around the plant in the shoe. A small hole is seen as an AA captain places the little plant into the ground, signifying the beginning of restoring the planet. You exit the room and unload. All along the exit queue is the various art portraying the restoration of humanity seen in the credits of WALL-E.

Well, here goes!

The Imagineer—Project 2

The Up Ride

Details:
For a new dark ride concept at the Hollywood Studios I looked back at some original concepts used at the Magic Kingdom. Since I was doing an Up themed ride I felt that it was appropriate to use a similar ride format as Peter Pan's flight. I also felt it best to add new technology to it to give a full experience of flying above some special show scenes. Add in a good storyline as well as some emotions and I created The Up Ride.

Location:
The Up Ride is located in the current Backlot location. The building replaces; the entrance queue, the water tank, the backstage exhibits, and the loading area. This space will be used as an expanded Pixar Place.

Exterior Sign:
The exterior of the building will be fairly large. The left side will be used as a meet'n'greet location while the right will be fast pass machines and additional stroller parking. The signage will be a fairly large marquee above the entrance doors.
(Entrance Sign)
picture.php

New Technology/Ride Vehicle:
The Up Ride will feature lots of new technology. First off, this will be the first suspended dark-ride to feature Omni-Screens, basically dome shaped screens similar to the ones featured in Horizons but fairly smaller. Also, the loading will be similar to the E.T. ride at Universal to avoid long lines. It won't use moving ramps. The ride's vehicle is designed to look as if it was made from a house. Above it are a series of baloons that hide the ride's support and controls. The vehicle itself is form of new technology. It is the only suspended system as of now to be able to tilt from side to side and rotate 180 degrees. This allows for better viewing of the show scenes. The seating arrangement is 6 eats with a lap bar for each person.
(Ride Vehicle)
picture.php

Blueprints of Ride:
Here are the ride's blueprints. They are based on the main sections, not the show scenes themselve's.
picture.php

Queue:
The attraction's queue begins at the exterior entrance and carries on inside. The entrance hall is designed to be fairly fancy, with red carpeting and overhead lighting that gives the room a calm look. An above sign indicates that you are currently inside the "Hall Of Explorers". On the opposite wall is a series of pictures of various explorers including Amelia Earhart, Orville and Wilbur Wright, and Charles Muntz. Around the bend is the next room, "The Hall Of Flight". Surrounding the queue line is a series of plane models. There is a biplane, an airplane, and a hot air baloon. The final area is the loading dock. There are numerous rope switchbacks that lead you from side to side. Jutting out from the ground are oversized storybook pages that show you Carl and Ellie's life as they progress from each page. (think the queue for Many Adventures Of Winnie the Pooh)

The Ride:
The ride is grouped by sections. One section can hold up to 3 show scenes.

Carl's House:
1. Living Room- The attraction starts out as you are passing through Carl's Living room. An animatronic Carl is arguing on the phone with a business man and is refusing to sell his house. He says that he is going to leave with "Ellie".
2. Dining Room- As the vehicles pass through the house you see tons of inflated and deflated baloons lying around. Suddenly Russel walks into the house.

Liftoff!:
1. Rising Up- The ride fully begins as you start to rise above the city. As you climb up pay close attention to the windows on each of the buldings surrounding you. AA's in the windows make hilarious expressions as you pass. As you get higher up an a model of Carl's house passes strangely close to your vehicle.
2. Pastures Below- As you pass above a miniature set designed to look like a miniature field below.
(Fly-Over Scene)
picture.php

Storm Ahead!:
1. Rain, Winds, and Lightning- As you climb you suddenly run into a massive storm which threatens to blow you away. Hiddden fans, fog effects, and strobe lights add to the effect of a large storm. The ride vehicle sways and even partially rotates as you are blown around. Carl's house briefly appears as it is blown around you. Suddenly the vehicles dip downwards through the storm.
(Stormy Weather)
picture.php

Landing/Paradise Falls:
1. Landing- In the following scene you are passing through a light fog. The vehicle is now gliding lightly downwards. If you look to the side you won't be able to see the ground due to the fog. All of a sudden a massive rock wall appears as the vehicle passes by. A few more appear dangerously close. The vehicle manages to get to the ground in time. If you look you can see Carl and Russel pulling the vehicle along.
(Rock walls and ground landing)
picture.php

2. Paradise Falls- As Carl and Russel keep going they stumble upon a beautiful view of Paradise falls. The view is painted onto a massive section of wall, giving it a deeper perspective of the valley below.
(Paradise Falls)
picture.php

Meet Kevin and Dug:
1. Meet Dug- The next scene has Carl and Russel meeting a talking Dug. The scene is a hilarious exchange of humour between the characters.
2. Forest Chase- Now, the ride gets exhilarating. The vehicles descend into the forest where are a group of animatronic dogs are chasing after and unseen creature. The vehicles speed up to 15 mph. Sensory techniques are used to surround the ride vehicles with special effects. A few animatronic dogs attached to arms are seen racing alongside the vehicle.
3. Meet Kevin- Now we see Carl, Russel, and Dug meeting Kevin, who pops out and surprises them. As they continue the animatronic Kevin leaps out of sight as a bunch of vicious looking dogs pop out of the brush. They lead Carl, Russel and Dug away.
(Kevin)

Muntz's Lair:
1. Entrance- The dogs are now surrounding the ride vehicles and the main characters as you enter a massive cave.
(Entrance to cave)
picture.php

2. Meeting Muntz- Muntz meets up with Carl and Russel and explains that he is still searching for the mysterious bird.
3. Spirit Of Adventure- You are now inside Muntz airship. As you follow the characters through each room you can notice Muntz is getting crazier. After threatening Carl and Russel he hears Kevin in the background. Fortunately Carl, Russel, and Dug manage to escape.
4. Chase- The vehicles speed up again to outrun Muntz's dogs.
5. Capturing Kevin- The next scene has the characters at Kevin's home where Dug explains that Kevin needs to visit her babies to feed them. Suddenly she is captured by Muntz's ship. Carl, dug, and russel jump into their house and take off after the airship.

Finale:
1. In the Air, Again- The vehicles pass next to a set of large dome screens. We get an intense battle in the sky between some biplanes and Carl's house. The next screen shows them boarding Muntz's ship.
2. Inside the Ship- Now inside, Carl manages to sneak and free Kevin with the help of Dug. The vehicles pass through numerous rooms to capture all of the action. The
3. Muntz V.S. Carl- The vehicles enter Muntz's museum where he is battling Carl with a sword. The next scene is on top of the Spirit of Adventure where Muntz is accidentally knocked off of his own ship by Carl's house.
4. Finale- The vehicles pass by the main window of the spirit of adventure where Carl, Dug, and Russel are dropping off Kevin to her babies. They all wave good-bye and the ship takes off.

Exit:
The unload leads guests past a large mural showing Carl's House sitting on the top of Paradise Falls along with a collage of Ellie's adventure book. This leads to the gift shop.

Music:
The ride's score is composed by Michael Giacchino.

Well, that was it. Enjoy!

Hey guys...

Saddly, I'm gonna have to drop out. Due to school and some friends visiting us from Canada, I've had almost no free time to work on project 2, and I'm not sure that's going to change much for future projects.

Hopefully I'll be able to take part in the next session though...

Thanks, Cody

Edit:
Ignore this post. I've talked with Mater and I'm back in! Sorry for any confusion, and good luck everybody!!!

I'll see what I can do. I'm working on finishing the project up right now. But I may not be able to have everything in place. I may have to go without the scene maps, which are too complex for just an overhead shot anyway.

That is fine, you dont need to have the overhead blueprints because someone has already been "eliminated".. but i would like to see what you all have story and attraction wise...

Okay, well, I was trying to restrain myself until it was finished, since I didn't think it right to have something turned in before it was fully finished, but...

My dark ride for Disney's Hollywood Studios is an E-ticket water coaster ride that would rival Splash Mountain. It's themed to the classic Disney movie, "Fantasia".

Remember you have until TOmorrow Night to be posted for it not to be "late" and until Sunday Night to post it for it to be considered "late" even though since we have the person "eliminated" already, no one will go..

So please take as long as you need, until SUnday, to get everything you all need together.. I would prefer it by tomorrow nite so we can post comments and such on Sunday/ then Sunday/MOnday post P3 b/c Tuesday i start school and wont have as much time to look at projects..

But if you have to turn it in on SUnday that is fine..

I'm still here. I'm a little frustrated; I only came up with my ride a few days ago, and I have to go out tonite while an unfinished project still waits at home. I am doing my very best, and will have something posted up by the time the day is out, whether that be a project or an announcement of my withdrawl. I sincerely hope that it turns out to be the former...
