Gotcha. I obviously can’t speak for him, but the general consensus is that DHS is “fine”. And that MK & DAK are next up as a priority to expand
Thank you, but "fine" as is "fine as it is," or "fine" as in Disney's strategy allows them to invest there?

If Disney won't invest there, no use asking to move Zootopia there.

Fine as in, “fine as it is”. They “just” spent a billion on Galaxy’s Edge, and who knows how much on TSL. As well as other infrastructure and other updates throughout the past few years.
MK and DHS are the 2 parks that need extra capacity.
I would love to see more expansion in DHS but I don’t foresee that happening in the next 5-7 years. I can see an announcement of expansion maybe in 3-4 years but doubtful. I would love to see something come to the dreadful and embarrassing Animation courtyard

Extremely bad for this forum re Zootopia. Too much demand for a Zootopia attraction, even from US fans. Surprisingly, Zootopia is one of Disney's most popular animated movies right now in the US especially for a non-musical

Long term prediction here.
Oceania type land in DAK that has no live animals. The Seas with Nemo and Friends is removed for a completely different concept that doesn't involve live animals.

I believe @ToTBellHop implied that the Moana blue sky from D23, which some here have hypothesized to be part of a Oceania themed land alongside Nemo, will include some live animals.

One of the main themes of the Animal Kingdom is the intrinsic value of nature / nature being in control. The value of nature is also a component of the right side of Future World / World Nature. There are absolutely parallels to this theme in the same way that there were general parallels between Future World and Tomorrowland. A point of contention historically was delineating the difference between the two. With the distinction of World Nature, Disney is leaning into the parallels between that specific section of EPCOT and DAK's overall theme.

In theory, you could pick up all of World Nature and plop it into DAK. Soarin' would be a stretch, but a new film highlighting only natural environments would make it work.

So back to the thematic fit. Zootopia is a poor fit. With the following from Joe Rohde himself:

On the other hand, while Moana doesn't have a focus on animals, one of the underlying themes of Moana is the value of nature. Assuming it's given the Pandora treatment and that theme is a factor in any attractions than Moana could be as seamless as Pandora for that park.

Um... well while you are right that there is some thematic overlap between EPCOT and Animal Kingdom, you couldn't just pick up World Nature and plop it in the middle of DAK. There is more to Animal Kingdom than just nature/envionmentalism, as I have mentioned here before. For one, there is one key difference in the way Animal Kingdom and EPCOT approach their themes. EPCOT expects its guests to learn directly through edutainment— such as what we see in the land pavillion. Animal Kingdom however expects experiencing an adventure to change its guests' philosophies. This is one of the core tenets of Disney's Animal Kingdom, referred to by Joe Rohde as "psychological transformation through adventure." So, an EPCOT attraction would not feel at place in DAK. Even if said attraction happened to be about nature.

It's also worth noting that Animal Kingdom is more focused on animals themselves than World Nature is. I mean, sure, DAK definitely is about more than just animals, but the primary focus of the park by far is the animal kingdom— hence the parks name, its mission statement, and Joe Rohde's various instagram posts explaining the origins of the parks themes' as being derived from the basic concept of a wildlife theme park.

All this talk of Zootopia in DAK, when they have a park that is crying out for expansion and is, until recently, centered around immersive franchise lands……

Put Zootopia in DHS. Leave the Dinoland plot to an IP that actually works.
Problem is, Disney may not be able to put Zootopia in Hollywood Studios due to corporate strategy. See the last page.

Yeah, I don't think, say, Living With the Land would fit in Animal Kingdom.
Will slightly disagree here. They could by all means put in an area in AK, that includes how nature grows and what certain parts of each country or area are specifically known for. I grant it would not fit as a whole land, but an enhancement of some of the areas

I would be thrilled with just filling what is empty rather than expanding out. They have slots within the existing park that are in dire need of new attractions - an additional restaurant in SWL, a new show in VotLM, and animation courtyard. Heck if they took the Indy stunt show out and used that space for a ride that could be a huge dark ride without expanding out on the park.

Weirdly enough, Zootopia and Moana might be encouraging news on that front. Since Moana likely will feature fantastical creatures from Polynesian legend, the east side of the park will feature fictional animals, including the "feral" humanized characters (psychologically) from Finding Nemo.
Other than Maui and Tafiti(sp?) what fantastical creatures would be invovled?

Living with the land is EPCOT edutainment. It wouldn't fit the theme of "transformation through adventure" in DAK.

It could, depending on how it is placed. I am not saying it should be done, just saying that it could fit if properly placed. Oh, and why does Epcot have to own the only edutainment?

I thank the mods for their effort in verifying my links, but I accidently buryied a post last night where no one would know to look for it. I thought it would be placed in the thread according to when the mid approved it, not when I posted it.

I'll delete the old post, and try again.

For Zootopia's popularity, look up Nielsen's top ten streaming movies for 2020 and Top 15 movies for 2022. I'm having trouble getting the links to work.

Now for the main feature....

"... a movie made by animals for animals" Lasseter. (At 1:57)

Lasseter and Byron Howard (and eventually Jennifer Lee) did not write a human story with animals. You are entitled to interpret it that way if you wish, but that line of reasoning will not help with Lee and company
