Your last day

As of right now, I plan to spend our last full day (not counting check out the next morning) going to Church (it will be a Sunday), doing the Orlando Mall, since my wife wants to do a mall, perhaps some mini-golf either on site or off site and possibly bumming around at Downtown Disney. Then get up Monday and head out. Part of me thinks I should do a theme park last so as not to feel like I am leaving for who knows how long until the next trip, and not doing my favorite attractions one last time. On the other hand, I don't want the mall and other such things to cut into my full theme park days through the week, so I think it best to do the "extras" on the last day, then call it a trip and go home. What do y'alls think? We're getting 10 day parkhoppers with no expiration, so techinically, we would have 4 days left, one of which could be used Sunday evening after all our shopping, eating and mini-golfing is done. But I almost hate to waste a day on our pass just for a few hours in the park, but then again, this is WDW after all! There is no such thing as "wasting" a day on your ticket is there? LOL

Mall can be done as a break in the middle of a full day - when the park is getting too crowded and hot. Then come back later in the day when things have calmed down. You can then spend your last day in the parks :D

Like I said, though, it will be Sunday, so we'll be going to church in the morning. If I remember correctly the Free Methodist Church in Kissimme (where we always go to church when we go down) has service at 10 or so. So it would be 11 AM or so when we get out of church, so that would be a good afternoon spent at the mall and Downtown Disney so my wife can shop to her hearts delight and to the pain of my wallet. Then, come back for supper at Chef Mickey's and then possibly some mini-golf and maybe some activities around the resort. So there seems to be plenty to do if I am really set on not using one of the remaining days on my ticket and save them all for next time. Otherwise, we could always drop back into the park at nightime, enjoy some rides and/or fireworks and/or parades and possibly EMH. I guess it all depends on if we want to burn one of our days just for a few hours as opposed to saving them all for next trip.

I may be the odd-gal-out but I save the Magic Kingdom for my last full day (I usually leave around 12 the following day.) Nothing like Wishes to say goodbye. I guess its the save the best for last principle or something.

We spend the day in the MK. We drip to the park and leave right from there to the airport. Worst moment of the entire trip...

So maybe you should find a less depressing way to end your trip. :p If you do it the way I am planning, you end your major theme park visits the day before your last actual day there. So now, instead of leaving the MK and going to the airport to go home, you can leave the MK and go back to your hotel knowing that you have some final "wrapping up" to do the next day...kind of "ease" your way out of WDW and have a good transition from Space Mountain to the airplane. LOL

I always go to one park late morning after checking my luggage in at the hotel. The way I pick the park I go to is whatever bus shows up first I get on it. I then head back to the hotel in the afternoon, have something to eat at the foodcourt and head for the DME bus.

The bad part is leaving the property not just the MK. Going home just stinks. We start planning the next one right away.

My family always used to just leave right after we checked out. Of course, my family always drove, and driving would take us two full days (!) The nice part about driving that far was that we still had one more night in a hotel (albeit in a different state,) and some more relaxing time before we were back home.

These days, my husband and I catch the earliest flight out, are in the parks by lunchtime, and on our last day, we check out, check our bags and usually do MK/Epcot until about 4-5PM when we have to go back to the airport. It's kind of rough going straight from the parks to being home about 3-4 hours later, but I think if we didn't and we just bummed around the last day I'd be going nuts thinking "I could be in MK right now, savoring every last second I have there until who knows when!" I know it's silly since we've been going about every year, but we never know for SURE when our next trip is...:p

When we did the cruise, we got off the Disney Wonder at about 8AM, and we were back IN the Magic Kingdom, on Pirates, before 10AM if I remember correctly. We are dedicated. :animwink:

Hmmmmm, I voted but I don't think I'm a good judge cause we don't go anywhere but WDW when we go to WDW. We have a mall at home, an outlet mall, mini golf....we have all of that here, so we never even leave WDW property. But since we always spend our last day in the parks...that's what I voted for.

I agree, we do the same thing.:animwink:

I definately vote Park on the last day......We usually take our side trips(Seaworld, Universal, Islands of Adventure...etc) during the middle of the week....so my last memories are always of the Disney Parks.... We also always go see Fantasmic on our last night. To me it doesn't get any more Disney than that!

Mall? Eeewwweeee!

:goodnevil Okay, I can completely understand the desire to go to church. I dont get why you'd want to waste your time going to a structure that ayou can see in just about any city across the country on any day of the year. Your going to WDW to visit parks and soak up all things disney and OD on the sugary sweetness of Disney. GO TO THE PARK MAN! Leave the mall for teenagers, degenerates, and women with too much money and too much time!:hammer:

But the problem is, the wife already said she really wants to go to the mall, AND she said she wants to do it at her own pace, as opposed to the normal routine of me rushing her out of every store. lol And she also cast her vote for doing the mall and more relaxing activities on that last day. So, as we learned in church, "happy wife means happy life". :p

During my trips to WDW, since I go about 4-5 times a year, I like going to the four Disney outlets, Beall's, Liz Claiborne & Old Navy. While I'm only a short ride to many outlet malls in my area, they still don't have the Disney ones. I also like to do my xmas and birthday shopping for my nieces and nephews down there. It always seems like I can find better things that they like. For me it is part of my vacation to do some shopping which I generally do in the middle of the day which at most times of year is the hottest and busiest times in the parks, so while all the crazy people are sweating and waiting in long lines, I'm in the cool a/c and will head to the parks late pm when it's a bit cooler as the sun is starting to go down.

You have to understand that when you are back in your real life with the day to day activities, leisurely shopping doesn't happen, you just run in and look for something and run back out. For me I don't need to be in/at Disney 24/7 while I'm there. There is life outside the four walls of Disney.

Last Day

As for us we found a new way to the last full day.

We used our options and went to the second waterpark for the morning oif the last day. So we did Blizzard Beach from 8-12. We hit the food court at POR and got showered and went to the MK for the 3PM Parade and EMH. We scheduled an early dinner at Liberty Tree and ended with the Fireworks. Nice way to finish up. HH

LOL! Well i think your screen name says it all.

It's all good. I didn't mean anything bad about people who leave the park to shop and stuff, but there are 4 Disney Stores and a Disney outlet right here where I live. Plus I don't have tons and tons of extra money for shopping. I do my leisurely shopping at home on the weekends, when there isn't a magical land right there that I could be in. But to each their own. :D

It certainly does !!

I have 4 Disney stores in my area too, but not the Disney Outlets, have to drive to Delaware, VA or upstate NY for that, but even so, they don't have the park merchandise that you find in the Character Warehouses in FL. I set aside a certain amount of money to shop with for the kids gifts for xmas and birthdays when I go to FL.
