Your Biggest Pet Peeves...

I'm sorry but your post really made me angry. I happen to be a cashier at Lowe's and it is NOT the cashier's fault! I'm so sick of people like you who don't know how to wait in line without about it. Things do go wrong and it's not our fault. Saying that you deserve a discount for waiting a little longer in line is ridiculous! What I would say to someone like you is "Well there is always another line you could go to." or my favorite line "Home Depot is right down the street!" ;) *Sorry to sound rude but if you had to put up w/ ignorant people all day as a cashier you would understand too" :zipit:

Did he say it was the cashier's fault? :veryconfu I thought he was blaming the store. Or maybe I'm not quite awake yet and am reading it wrong :snore:

Anyway, I'll post a couple of pet peeves from MY work!

Patients who blow us off- there is almost ALWAYS somebody else waiting to get in. If you can't make your appointment, let us know in advance so that someone else can be seen! ...unless of course an emergency has arisen. Not fair to our other patients.

Patients who come late, especially without calling ahead to tell us- our office runs on time UNLESS somebody comes late. They get mad if we turn them away, and the rest of the patients get mad if we are now running behind. It's a no-win situation for us. And again, sometime there is a good reason for being late. I am not talking about those people.

Patients who walk in without calling first and demand to be seen. We're a very busy office and again, it's not fair to the other patients who have appointments.

And finally, people who make cracks about how much money my boss is making off of them. We're running at 70% overhead. Dentistry is expensive, what can I say. Unfortunately insurance companies have not changed their maximums in 20 some years, while the prices of everything else have skyrocked. Anyway, he's more than generous enough. I've seen him not charge people because they are elderly, they are volunteers, they are widows, etc, etc.

Whew! Is anyone still reading this? LOL

The things that kills me is inconsiderate people.
Rude People.
And Washington Capitals fans.

Oh yeah, and people who cantr clean up after themselves or change the roll of toilet paper.....

Capitals fans ??? Who/What are these strange people you speak of ???

And I hate it when people throw trash out of their car !!!!!!!! It should be legal to swipe them.

People who flick cigs from moving cars. If you must flick a butt why can't you wait till you hit a red light ?? Or use an ash tray. I do !!!

One of my pet peeves is when I am shopping in a store, & come to the register to pay, and the person that is supposed to be ringing up my order is on the phone with their friend, and they get disgusted with me for interrupting their phone conversation! I'm not supposed to buy anything when they're on the phone... how rude of me! :hammer:

Another one of my pet peeves is when my husband washes his hands in the kitchen & dries them on a paper towel, instead of bending over to throw the paper towel in the trash under the sink, he leaves it on the counter next to the sink!

I've heard about this... my brother in law is a student in dental school right now (one more year, woohoo!) but he VOLUNTARILY accepted patients through what should've been his summer break. These people needed work and help, (mostly lower income) so they'd schedule with him, but would rarely show up. So inconsiderate of his time.

Here's my CURRENT pet peeve:

When you volunteer to coach a 25 girl 8th grade cheerleading squad because no one else wants the job and then 13 out of 25 parents want to tell you HOW to do your job (after having done this for 8 years)!!

Well Hello, if you know so much why didn't you volunteer to coach the squad???

Last Friday I was ready to hand in my coaches shirt and pass, I had had enough. When the parents have a crappy attitude, the kids pick it up and then all hell breaks loose. AND while I'm at it, all cheerleaders can not be flyers. There has to be 3 girls who act as bases to hold a flyer. I especially love it when you've got girls who have cheered for 8 yrs vs. girls who sign up because it will be their last chance to cheer on a rec team (after this year they have to make the high school team) and then they and their parents want to about why is my child in the back row OR how come they are not front and center?

Thanks for letting me vent, I feel better know!

I know the square root of sod all about cheerleading, but much of what you said is applicable to am.dram / community theatre / dance schools.

This happened to me the other day. The store was very crowded & the cashier was talking to another in the next lane...where we went on our date last night, what we did ( ...I'd kill my kid)..all this within earshot of the entire front end. I stopped putting my things on the belt (the cart was still half full) and she said "is something wrong?" I told her that I was so engrossed in her life that I just had to stop mine so I didn't miss any of the details. :D Shut her right up and I was out of there in a flash.
(and my money was ready)

I guess most of these pet peeves come down to people being inconsiderate. Think about it.....If people were more aware of (and cared about) other people and how much inconvenience their actions cause them, then maybe they would not be so annoying. Just be nice to each other!

Of course, I have been told that I smile too much.:) Go figure...

Ahhh, not only for dentistry, but as a new physical therapist, I see this so much. I am trying to have good productivity and I have patients who need PT badly blowing it off. Leading me to waste my time waiting for them to no show, call them to find out why they are not showing up and then having to call their doctor to rat on them. It is very annoying. I also see my patients for 30 minutes and lately have had 1 or 2 that show up 20 minutes late. They usually want to be seen for the 10 minutes and I have to tell them: A) you miss 2/3rds of your appt, it is not right for me to charge you for the time, and B) my next person is on time waiting in the lobby for me. So leave 20 minutes earlier next time or call- its that simple!

Yep... I agree, if people could just remember to treat other people the way that they want to be treated themselves... the old golden rule...

My list of biggest pet peeves is way to long, so I will keep it short!
1- people who throw their cigarrettes out of their car,umm there is an ashtry in your car, that is what it was made for... use it!
2- The rudeness of people waiting to see The Spectomagic parade, they have to be the rudest people I have ever encountered.
3- people that wear socks with their sandles...um what were sandles made for but to let you go barefoot without hurting your feet! :D
4- people that litter.. are you telling me that you can not wait till you get to your destination where you can throw it away in the trash can?

I have never seen a cashier call a superviser or manager to let them know to check stocked items to make sure they are all marked or get put into the system. It may happen somewhere, but I haven't seen it. To me, this isn't necessarily the cashier's fault, but poor training and Q/A policy set by management.
And you'll never see a cashier call a manager/supervisor to check on an item because the cashier knows that the manager won't do it. Some, but not all managerial types in retail will not lift a finger to help a lower associate.

As for things not being priced right, everything is dependent on the barcode in large retail stores now. Therefore, when the product is put out onto the floor, the price is already marked based on the barcode. However, someone is responsible somewhere to make sure the computer has the correct info.

Ah, retail.....I'm sure that both customers and employees could write books.

FutureCEO, I would be interested in reading your 101 list.

You're right! That can also be applied to softball/basketball/football, etc. depending upon the season.

Parents think their child is perfect (and they should!), but the truth is most are not as good as they want them to be. Some will become excellent athletes/actors(for Barnum), the rest will eventually figure out their greatness.

AND let me add that this is a position that takes 2 hrs a night, 5 nights a week from me - after working a full time job. Out of 25 girls, there are only TEN parents who stay to watch their child.

TIGSMOM: Too funny :sohappy:

Blockbuster customers who are too lazy to put a cover box back where they found it, thus screwing up other customers nights by having the wrong movie behind the wrong box. And the customers who yell at the employees for not having the movie in the right place when its other customers faults. And when checking in movies for customers and they knock on the window asking if its on time and its 2 hours till 12. "Why doesn't this line move??" Gee, maybe because you don't pay attention when you are next?!?!?!?!?!

Any place that has a credit card/debit machine. "Swipe your card. The other way. Thats backwards, just turn it around. Other Way. No the OTHER way. Hit the green button." "Oops hit the red. Now we gotta start all over. HAHAHA."
