The anonymity of the interwebs makes it far too easy....

And this thread?
This is allegedly a discussion forum regarding Disney and all its parts. Discussion implies that there will be occasionally be differing viewpoints. I have offered information about how the wife and I handled our yearly family trip to WDW when our kids were young and how we handle our trips now. Those not wishing to read them can scroll right on by. I do just that when the discussion turns to "the Yeti", "Horizons", "Kali fire scene", and other posts that I consider to be nothing but meaningless griping about "Disney mistakes, failures, shortcomings, and disappointments". I also do it when there are posts consisting of basically empty speculation about what Disney "may or may not do", the most recent being the posts about what businesses may locate in the Disney Springs expansion. I find griping and speculation about Disney to be essentially useless in my vacation planning and enjoyment.
The wife is a nurse practitioner specializing in the administration and management of cancer medications and who works for a large group of oncologists. I am a nuclear medicine technologist who works exclusively in the oncology department of a major, tertiary care, medical center. After spending 8 hr. (usually 10 and frequently 12) a day working with cancer patients and the physicians who treat them, month after month, we weren't, and aren't, about to try and "do Disney on the cheap", nor were we going to push strollers or haul backpacks. And we certainly weren't going to load up on frozen bottles of water to pack around rather than pay for a dayum bottle when we or the kids got thirsty. Nor were we going to not enjoy our vacation time because "it's all about the children". Fortunately we have chosen fields of endeavor that allow us the opportunity to save for Disney vacations free from worry about "the cost" of anything at the parks or resorts. If others haven't done so, not my problem. We studied dayum hard and have worked dayum hard to get all the education, training, licenses and certifications that allow us to work at what we do and reap the benefits of same. We also accrue a ton of paid vacation but because of a massive shortage of people who can do what we do we don't get to take full advantage of it. When I retire I will have several years of pay coming for unused leave in addition to my retirement checks. The wife will also.
Many of you have chosen to interpret my posts as personally insulting. That is a childish attitude. If I had written, "oh that's a marvelous way to save money at Disney and a fantastic approach to a family vacation" then you'd "feel good" and have a sense of "validation". But instead I have shared how we do WDW and you come away "insulted". Perhaps next you can tell us how Disney should lower their prices so it's "fair". That's about what I have come to expect from "The New America".

Our kids didn't go near WDW until they were 5. At one point they were 8, 7 and 5. The 2 older ones obviously had been going with us for a few years until No. 3 turned 5. Never a stroller, never a backpack. Never a leash or harness either. They knew we were serious when we told them that if they wandered off that when we found them their day at the parks was OVER.
We were the PARENTS, not their pack mules. We were the PARENTS, not their servants.
At dinner one nite, the oldest (he was about 12 at the time) told us, "You don't know how hard it is to be raised in the 90s by parents who think that it's the 50s". We took it as a compliment. Now all 3 of them have their 4 year college degrees, have good jobs, have no drug or alcohol issues and don't have any criminal records or "Baby Mamas". As far as I'm concerned, it all worked out dayum well.

Not to derail this more but.... I would hate to have you as a parent. The way you're describing it, I feel sorry for your kids. My parents are fun and nowhere near as strict. Just an fyi, I have a 4 year college degree, a great job (chemical engineer), and never had a drug or alcohol issue nor do I have a criminal record. [/zinger]

Now about those wait times...

So, when other people discuss that which you don't agree with, it's "griping," and should be condemned by you at all costs, because it's a discussion board and they can scroll right by your comments. Ironic....

But hey, enjoying living the good life in that "New America."

'god' bless the ignore function. Another one bites the dust.

-You miss the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ. And even He cannot get a FastPass for TSMM.

-The Yeti now runs a website which mocks tourists' lack of movement in the EE queue.
-Exiting MK after Wishes involves you alerting your next of kin back home.

I'm still chuckling over this, Tater. You win.

What part do you find "strict"? That we made the decision that 5 was the minimum age to go to WDW? That we didn't push strollers or haul backpacks? That we didn't use leashes or harnesses? That our kids knew that they needed to stay with us and not wander off? That we had sitdown family dinners together? Oh wait I bet I know: that we taught our kids that there were consequences to actions that we the parents had deemed unacceptable.

What part of scroll on by do you have trouble comprehending?

We work hard, we play hard. Always have, always will. In spite of the "gimme gimme entitlement slurpers" that have taken over The New America. And in spite of the "Honey Boo Boo watching, my kids are talented, gifted, and just so special" crowd. In spite of the "every kid has to play and every kid gets a trophy" crowd. In spite of the "Bravo channel" watching mouthbreathers. In spite of The Great Unwashed that haul themselves off to WalMart several times a day.

And in closing remember this: No matter what is written here or who it is written by (even you in all your self-imagined glory), there are several billion Chinese who could care less.

I would assume the same one that escapes you. Particularly when it somes to those with differing outlooks or ways of doing things from yourself. But perhaps that's not acceptable in "New America." I wouldn't personally know.....

that's when they close the Whole resort (parks,DTD,roads)
Level 9 is similar to what happened to Gotham City in Dark Knight Rises all incoming and outgoing exits to the Resort are either destroyed or blocked by military tanks. But with pixie dust mixed in.

Still trolling eh?
Reading comprehension seems to be an issue for you. I have offered info on how we did Disney when our kids were young and info on how we do it now. That's called an "exchange of personal experiences" as opposed to "griping", "nitpicking" and "speculating". I rarely if ever participate in the threads concerning the "broken Yeti", "who will locate in Disney Springs", "I'm not going to WDW ever again until they "lower prices, reopen Adventurers, rebuild Horizons, build a bunch of new thrill rides" and all the other "issues" that people have with Disney.
You may not have noticed but not once have I griped about getting runover with strollers or slammed with backpacks. I do not care if people push, haul and carry. That's up to them. We chose, and choose, not to encumber ourselves with such devices. Should any of our kids ever have kids, perhaps they will be among the stroller pushing, backpack hauling masses. That will be up to them, but I will still not be pushing or hauling. I will be happy, elated even, to get out the camera and the wallet and enjoy grandkid time. But, it will still be my vacation time too and that doesn't include pushing and hauling.

There is a "New America" and it is a concerted effort to European-ize. The dumbing down of America, including the ignoring of history, conveniently overlooks the fact that The New World was colonized to get away from Europe. If I wanted to live there I'd move there. There need to be tee shirts that borrow from the ones about NYC: "We don't care how you do it in Europe".

Wow, you are a classist a**hole. Just because you have money doesn't mean that other people should be denied the parks just because they choose a different method than you. It's ultimately *their* "inconvenience" so why are YOU so worried? If you can afford spending tons of money on food and snacks each day, good for you! There are people who can't.

Trolling? No, I leave that to the New American experts who come here as pass off judgments and insults as an "exchange of personal experiences." Which you've done now in multiple threads.

We "have money" because we made EXCELLENT choices in college majors, followed by EXCELLENT choices in employment, followed by EXCELLENT choices in post-graduate education and training, followed by EXCELLENT choices in where, how and why to receive certification and licensure. However, you have not surprisingly focused on us "having money" and conveniently overlooked the posts where I clearly state that we SAVE all year long for our annual pilgramage to WDW.
The only "worry" that I have is whether or not our luggage shows up on time at the right location. You also conveniently overlooked that I wrote, "I do not care if people push, haul and carry. That's up to them."
And now I must hie myself off to work so that we can continue to "have money" and so that I can continue to contribute to our Disney "pot". While I am tending to the needs of cancer patients what will YOU be doing? Heading off to WalMart to grab some of that great Chinese crapola and using your Food Stamps for their garbage that passes itself off as groceries? Making sure that your DVR is set to record all of your favorite reality shows? Emailing WDW demanding that they lower their prices so that it's "fair"? Waving your Medicaid card at some doctor as if it was a diamond encrusted AMEX card? Or just waiting and wondering why Obama hasn't sent you all the "free goodies" that he has promised in return for votes?
The New America. Never have so many done so little but slurped up so much from those who have actually achieved in their lives. The New America, bah humbug.

And billions of Chinese still don't give a hoot what is posted here.
