Your stroller, etc. wouldn't cause me a bit of trouble, unless you asked me to push it for you. When your youngest is 20 do you think that she will have accurate memories of these early trips? Or will her memories be what she has been told took place? The one who didn't go until she was 9 would have been going for 4 years by that time in our household. We considered our kids to still be "little" at age 5, 7 and 8. But without dealing with strollers and diaper bags. There was not a chance in the world that we were going to be changing diapers at WDW parks. Vacations with diapers consisted of things like renting a beach house on Isle of Palms for a couple of weeks.

You don't "damage" your kids by taking them to WDW (unless you act like a screaming idiot while you're there). You do damage by not preparing them for entry into the real world, which is NOT going to recognize their "total and complete perfection and infallability".

What's up with your holier than thou attitude on this thread? Just because everyone doesn't abide by your reasonings and/or method of entry into the park and/or lack of carrying stuff around, doesn't mean they are WRONG, or bad parents, or coddling their kids, or idiots for bringing a camera bag to protect their (potentially) thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment!

I mean... really, dude?

No, my youngest won't remember much of those trips. But WE WILL. This idea that trips with little children are a waste is just wrong. I used to think that way. My experience is the opposite. I had no problem whatsoever changing diapers in the parks. If that's the price I pay to be with my child at one of my favorite places, so be it. They were all incredible experiences.

That said, I totally agree with you about the way too many kids are raised these days. Too many parents want to be their kid's friend rather than a parent, and they're doing them no favors. That's not the way we operate, and I don't conflate taking my kids to the parks with coddling them. Wow, this thread got way off track...

I agree with everything you stated here. But how does this relate to carrying a bag into MK? Because I don't want to spend a fortune on food and souvenirs and I choose to bring my kids with me from age 10 months on, does that mean I'm not being a PARENT??
My views on "bags", and I include the giant strollers and massive backpacks in that category, has to do with MY enjoyment of a family vacation. The wife and I were on vacation too, not just the kids. We only got several weeks a year, the kids got spring breaks, fall breaks, Christmas, the entire summer and of course, the always popular "teacher work days".
You can choose to spend, or not spend, your money any old way you like. We saved up all year for our once a year pilgramage to WDW and did so in a manner that ensured that food, drink and souvies were paid for in cash at the time of purchase. We both work, and still do, full-time in rather intense fields of endeavor and would rather save up for sundries and necessities than haul them around a theme park while at the same time managing 3 kids and also having some enjoyment ourselves. Of course, now the 3 are grown and gee willikers, they can pay their own way.
And now I have to go get ready for work myself so that I can continue to contribute to the WDW "pot" for our trip at the end of this month.

And for the record I don't have kids, and don't care whether or not you and/or your kids have strollers, backpacks, diaper bags, camera bags. In fact, I think it's rather smart to bring a bag and have your sunscreen, diapers, water bottle, baby bottle, snacks, etc. than to spend a fortune on them in the park!
Trying to "do Disney on the cheap" is a totally foreign concept to us. But to each their own.

If so, not a very funny joke.
Ah no biggy I figured you would get on me for bringing the stroller in the first place. My kids are small 3 and 5 So we have one of those where my 5 year old can stand on the back. The other just turned 3. I would have liked to wait until they were a bit older to take them but living here in FL makes that difficult especially when family and friends vist and the first thing they ask about visiting the parks. I do agree with a sentiment you expressed earlier about people today who seem to be afraid to parent or adopt todays lax standards and take no responsibility. What is a sad choice. When I was a kid it was a bad choice or I was told my behavior was bad or unacceptable. There is also a great sense of entitlement with several of todays teens and 20 somethings it is scary.

The anonymity of the interwebs makes it far too easy....

And this thread?

What was the entry line like for the people who don't feel the need to haul their entire house into the parks?

Cargo shorts, wallet in 1 pocket, phone in another, sunglasses on, camera in hand. When on rides, eating or in a restroom, camera in another pocket. Total weight, maybe a pound, pound and a half. Even less when I get the wife to put the phone in one of her pockets.

We can cruise right thru the park entrances because we don't feel the need to drag a U-Haul trailer into theme parks. Give it a try.

Sorry but not everyone has that option. While I would love to take just my wallet and phone into the parks with me, I don't have that option. Neither do lots of people. Try being a little bit more considerate of people next time you make a post like that.

...the Walt Disney Railroad passes by Frontierland due to overcrowding in that section.
...even the tour groups stop chanting and leave.
...you stood inline at the confectionary so long that you memorize the menu, and switch what you want three times from what you origionally wanted to get.
...the 3:00 parade starts at 4:15 due to to many people blocking the path
...breakfast becomes brunch or an afternoon snack results in just ordering Dinner due to not wanting to wait in that line again.
Wait, does this seriously happen?
