I posted on subject of not being able to do things because of resistance from other family members and someone posted about the family wanting to sleepin and start around 10. OMG I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND that!!!! My family does same thing...Im up and ready to go by 7 and they are snoring away. It drives me nuts. At first id just go to food court, get paper and coffee (yuk( then wait around for couple hours for them to be ready. It would literally stress me out. SLEEP AT HOME!!!!..Finally i decided Id just go parks myself and meet up with them. Its nice and rtelaxing but Id rather be with my wife and daughter. What drives people to want to sleep?

Some people go on vacations for different reasons.

I'm with ya, however a few days to relax and sleep in make for a great vacation as well. Especially if you take advantage of the Evening EMH. (We take advantage and have afternoon naps) What I find myself to do is let everyone sleep in and explore the resort, have a coffee on the balcony, people watch, lounge by the pool, etc. Since my next trip in July is going to be with so much family (8 Adults and 5 Children) I might want to get away for awhile ;) , or take the kids down to the pool while we wait.

It is very difficult to travel with people who like to do things differently than you do. Trust me, I know it. Especially if its my sister. 'Nuff said there!

But what strangers do is not something I worry about at all. They should do whatever they like. :)

Can you imagine if everyone was an early bird and tried to be at the park at opening at the same time.

I think everyone should sleep in until at least midday, that would give us a few hours of park time to ourselves!

Seriously, each to their own. I love that first quiet hour, before the sun gets too hot and another fun-filled day stretches in front of us but I can understand peiople prefering a lie-in and a slow start to the day. The food courts are always quiet for us but are busying up considerably as we head off to the parks so I imagine we are in the minority.

8 days and counting!!!

Unfortunately we seem to wake sooner than planned, we aim to raise around 7-7:30am but generally wake around 6-6:30! The excitement of the day ahead gets the better of us! Although I must admit should I sleep in past 8am I would panic, we have to be at the parks for opening!
I love it! We may have a day or 2 like that but its so hard to do it everyday!! :)

I'm with you 100%! I am up early every day. Thankfully, my youngest daughter is as well. we started a tradition to get up early, grab a quick breakfast and hit the parks. We let my wife and the teenagers sleep in.

The thing is, I still also hit up Evening EMH.

well like others said, not everyone gets to sleep in at home. my old deaf dog doesn't seem to think there's a reason he shouldn't bark at 5:30 every morning. ( and on a side note, no its not a training issues hes dropping a bit in the ol memory banks and gets confused when it starts getting light or dark out, he's 20) needless to say the relative I pay to stay with him gets a kings ransom.

also, I've seen early birds work against themselves. I've been in vacation with people who missed their entire vacation, because all they did was stress and worry about getting to everything first thing and cramming in every ride. they literally at points were worrying about getting to the next ride, while actually on other rides....

That's a great idea... I am going to have to see if my husband would do that with our very eager 10 year old!! :)

No alarms at Disney!!! It's a vacation. I usually sleep in until around 10-11:00am. I do EMH then DTD if they're still open. I get back to my resort and take some night time shots when the resorts are empty then I backup my photos from the day on my computer and sort them so I don't have such an overwhelming task when I get home.

I tend to go to sleep between 3:00am to 4:00am so no...I will not be up at 6:00am. My sleep schedule doesn't work like that. I'm wired to stay up late and sleep in. I do it at home and I do it at Disney.

Occasionally I'll do a day with breakfast and one or 2 early mornings but getting up early is not a good time and if its not fun I'm not doing it - especially on vacation!

It's only been on the last few trips that we have gotten up and been to the parks by rope drop. We find we can do SO MUCH more in that first hour. I'm not usually a morning perso but i find if i get up and get moving, I'm ok. At night though it's different. Cause once I hit that wall, I'm done. I'd rather get up and get going in the morning than to hit the wall at like 11, and still have stuff in the parks I want to do that we didn't get to, due to getting there late. To each his own though. Everyone has a different traveling style. We're traveling with my aunt and 2 cousins next month and last time we traveled with them, we didn't get to the parks til after 10 and left early. We stayed off property and had one vehicle so when my aunt wanted to go, we went.

I'm on vacation. I'm going to sleep. I can't sleep at home; I have to get up during the week at 6 am (for now at least, I'm hoping that will change next school year). I will, however, stay up until at least 1 am on vacation. I've done the 3 am EMH at MK before and do the 2 am ones. With me, it's partially that I'm 18 years old and there's scientific research that proves teens need more sleep and that naturally, their bodies want to sleep later and stay up later. The earliest you can convince me to get out of bed is 8 am, and you have to give me a valid reason to do so (No, "You're wasting your vacation away" is not a valid excuse). During the summer, we hit the pool in the mornings, so everyone else can go and I will get up when I feel like it, though I try to get down there by 11:30. In the winter, we get up at around 8:30 or 9, go get breakfast (sit down usually) and go in the parks. There's no rule that says mornings can't be leisurely.

To me, what time one chooses to get up on vacation is a personal preference. It's not a sign of laziness or not wanting to enjoy your vacation; it's your vacation and if you want to sleep in because there's nothing you HAVE to do, go ahead. If you want to get up early, just don't make me do it. And if you're tired and ready for bed, then go to bed.

I understand the sentiment of "it's my vacation" but if you're paying through the nose for said vacation you might as well get your money's worth.

I'm not paying that kind of money for people to sleep it away.
