YOMD Bad Timing

Well, just got back from 10 days at WDW and was very surprised that not once while there did we see any YOMD prizes given out. I'm sure it was just bad timing, but I was really hoping to see the reactions to a few prizes being given out. A bit disappointing, but the vacation was GREAT in every other aspect. Will post some pics on the appropriate thread once I figure out how to do it......:hammer: Can't wait to plan the next trip!!!!

I heard it happens mostly in the mornings. When I was in Animal Kingdom on 10/15 I was getting off everest and they handed the whole train dream fastpasses, but it was REALLY early...like right around the end of morning EMH! Also, they had a huge camera and told us all they were filming this for a promotion during the Christmas special. I didn't use the fast passes because I wanted to keep the whole badge...lol

We've been there twice during YOMD for a week each time and we have yet to see the Dream Squad either! We're hoping the third time is the charm.

I've only seen people being awarded something once in my 15 days in WDW parks, and 3 days out at DL. I could've gotten the lanyard and pins as I was getting off Maelstrom, too bad I'm a CM. :cry: I always see plenty of people with the dream fastpasses, but have never actually seen someone receive them.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I have been 4 different times (3-1 week trips, 1-2 day trip) since they started the promotion, and have never even seen the dream squad. I was hoping that by the 3rd trip I would have won something! I think it's a consipiracy against people who don't want to get up before 8AM on their vacation...

We saw a bunch of dream team people walking around the parks, but never handing out anything. Once after we got off Snow white there were 2 dream team people that got near the exit right after we moved away from there. :hammer:

Obviously I can't know what you've heard, but I can say that it's not accurate that it happens mostly in the morning.

Maybe that came from someone somewhere misconstruing something in the printed rules. The only prize specifically given in the morning is the stay in the Cinderella Castle suite. This is done for very practical purposes. Wouldn't it be a terrible prize to stay in the suite if you were awarded it at 11:00 p.m.??? You just want to go back to your room and sleep, not go back to your room and pack a bag ... and then you wouldn't be able to enjoy the suite because all you'd do is flop into bed.

Instead, they award the suite early in the day to give time to pack a bag for the night, be part of a parade, and later be able to spend time enjoying the suite.

EXCEPT FOR THAT, there is absolutely no truth to the idea that they give out more YOMD prizes in the mornings than in the afternoons and evenings. Times and places are randomly generated by a computer in Elgin, IL.

I must be luck i have been awarded a dream after the Great Movie Ride on October 7th and i have also seen them at Magic Carpets of Aladdin and i have seen them around 4:00 at the MK right before i left to get ready to go back for MNSSHP.

When I was there in Spetember, I saw one child receive something and a Dream Team lounging against a wall, but other than that, nothing. When I was there in October, 2006, I saw more people (or thought I saw) with fastpasses and lanyards than what I did this year.

And, when I got my lanyard - :sohappy: - it was before 9 in the morning in the Tower of Terror!

I am a self proclaimed dream squad stalker! We followed them on our last trip Oct 20th-27th. Apparently there are different types of dream squad people. Greeters and one's that give out the bigger prizes.

We were chit chatting with the squad at animal kingdom and they gave us a magical moment to the Nemo show, VIP seating. They also gave us a fast pass type of thing for the safari!

Greeters do not have the fast passes or the ears. But I did see plenty of people with them!

On a side note one night we had dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table and the people who won the overnight stay were eating there. I don't know if it was out of coincidence or if you win the stay you get dinner in the castle too!

This past July I was waiting outside Primevil Whirl, (not enough dramamine in the world to get me on that again), and while waiting for my sons to come off there were about 7 or 8 of them waiting at the exit. It seems there was a large family on the ride and they were there to give them the FP Lanyard's. My sons were about 5 people behind them. :shrug:
