YOMD Bad Timing

Whever I go to DL, I see tons of Dream Squad people.
When I went to WDW last year, I didn't see one the entire week!

Dream Team=Amazing basketball team/Team USA
Dream Squad=Cast Members that give out dreams.

I haven't seen either one in any of the WDW Parks! :ROFLOL:

On a side note, I am a passholder and I am at the parks a LOT. I see people with the Dream Fastpasses constantly. At MGM last weekend I must have seen 25 of them. :( I've just never seen the actual Dream Squad.

Denim colored shirts, tan pants/shorts = Dream Squad super greeter (think wandering guest relations people)
Add a white vest to the above and you have a prize giver.
Prizes are usually given in the morning so you can enjoy them all day long, but not exclusively. Unique extra magic hours (only 3000 people in the park for 90 minutes) and passes to a Hard Ticket party are given out in the afternoon.
I've been in the room twice when a prize was given out. Both times it was lanyards.
And yes, dinner at CRT (Cinderella's Royal Table) is part of winning a night at the castle.

i have to agree with most of the posters the dream squad must be invisible.we were there for 8 days in early october and not once did we see any prizes given or any dream squad members that could have been giving out prizes.i for one am starting to think the yoamd is one big HOAX.well anyway we will be back in december maybe we will at least see something or someone associated with yoamd.KUNGALOOSH AND HAVE A MAGICAL DAY:sohappy:

FYI to those of you who really want to see the Dream Squad ... they are at all 4 park's rope drops and waving goodbye to you near the entrance or a major thoroughfare at the end of the night. If you want to see a Dream Squad'er, you can.

It's a legally registered sweepstakes and they are distributing 1.25 million prizes between WDW and DL. If 40,000 people are in any given theme park and they only give - say - 300 prizes that day, you only have about a 0.75% chance of winning. That means 1 in 400 people will win. I don't think it's justifiable to call it a "hoax" when the odds of winning are already stacked against you.

We saw them twice in September, the first time we just missed winning Dream Fast Passes at BTMR and on our last day we won them exiting at BTMR. Ironically we also saw them handed out and just missed them on our February trip this year at BTMR.
It was morning each time, I think they give the things like the Dream Fast Passes out early so that you have time to use them.
We were thrilled even if we didn't need to use them because the crowds were low.
Here is a pic..

I've had decent luck with them. I went in March and we were given one of the Tinkerbell Magic Moment pin sets - not really dream squad, but it was something. This past Halloween trip (a few days ago) we managed to get the Special Extra Magic Hour bracelet after coming off of BTMR. After we got off the ride, they handed us the bracelet. Was very cool. They said only 3000 people got them, but I figure only about 1000 or so showed up so there was no wait for anything at MK for that hour. Was nice doing Space Mountain twice in a row with no waiting.

Very good point, but someone's odds of winning are even smaller than that. YOMD prizes are also given out at Downtown Disney. SO if there are 40,000 at each of the 4 Florida theme parks, 10,000 at DTD, and another 40,000 at DL, that's 210,000 people "competing" for about 30 daily prizes. That gives each guest about a 1 in 700 chance, or about a 0.14% chance of winning each day.

BUT WAIT!!! The odds are even lower than that because some of the daily prizes are given to people who mailed in postcards to enter. So your chances of winning while at WDW is even lower than 0.14% each day. That's not a 14% chance, that's a zero-point-one-four percent chance, a little more than a one-tenth of one-percent chance.

Let me put it in a different perspective ... 300 daily prizes ... 7 venues for receiving prizes (4 WDW parks, DTD, DL, mail) ... that's an average of 43 prizes per venue per day. On any day you might have been at, for example, Magic Kingdom, there have probably been 43 people who were injured or ill and required medical attention, or 43 people who shoplifted, or 43 people who accidentally dropped their entire tray full of food onto the floor of a counter-service restaurant ... but my guess is most people haven't seen any of that happen, either.

HOAX? Anyone who thinks that just because they haven't seen a prize bestowed or received a prize themselves that it must be a hoax ... well, they just didn't think things through.

Just because you are not at the right place, right time does not mean it isn't there. I have seen this argued on these boards before, and in 2 trips, 6 months apart we saw them 3 times and won once. That is pretty good odds to me. :)

Although we haven't won anything so far, we did witness a family be selected to win the night in Cinderella's castle. They were right behind us in Animal Kingdom. This was around 1 pm.

We were there for 12 days in Sept and I never noticed any Dream Team members--until we were picked for being a Star Tours family. We were standing outside Star Tours trying to decide if we wanted to wait 20 minutes or go on to the Muppet show when one walked up to us and asked us if we'd like to ride without waiting. We got to go in a special entrance (I think it was the same entrance used as the handicapped entrance) and got right up where you are waiting outside the ride vehicle. Also, we got a little certificate saying that we were a Star Tours family. Pretty fun, but I sure thought we would have seen them more over the course of 12 days... I think I only saw one or two people with Dream Fastpasses. Of course, crowds were low when we were there, and I think there were few things that a fastpass would have been good for (Space Mountain, Test Track, Soarin').

There aren't that mean Dream Squad CM's. So if only 4-5 are working at any given time and you are in a park with 40,000 people ... what ARE the odds of seeing them, really? Not to mention their costume really doesn't stand out in a crowd.
You're looking for a needle in a haystack.
