We found a pattisserie, chocolate shop, and cheese shop.
Just a fun cafe in the Marais
Brad got a chocolate golf ball and it was good. He sent a picture to his golfing buddies and they said they were looking forward to theirs. They are still waiting…
I got something with chocolate and hazelnut and it was good too.
As we left the cheese shop there was a church so of course we checked it out. We all liked the red Lion on the door. I think there was a classical music concert series at night here but the next one was to be while we would be in Normandy.
Then just a few fruit and flower shops as we continued to wander. We ended up in the Places des vosages I believe. There was supposed to be a cute wine cafe in a courtyard there but we never found it.
June 26
We left that area and continued until we ended up in the area where the Bastille used to be. There we stopped for a late lunch at a nice cafe. Brad and I had meats and cheese and a croque madame to share. I also had a Kir royale, that was on my French drinking list. It was tasty. I think he had a Mai tai.
So there isn’t anything left of the bastille building but they have markers on the ground outlining the shape of the building so that is kind of cool. And there is the big column in the roundabout commemorating the Bastille.
After lunch we continued back toward the island Ike Saint Louis which is the most expensive place to live in Paris but also home to one specific place that I had in mind.
The Republican Guard building, home to the horses as seen in Impression De France.
We encountered some cute little vintage cars parked along the street and again found an old church on the Ile. It was under massive refurbishment but it had some
Highlights.
We finally made it to my main spot here . The Berthillion ice cream store. The main shop was closed!!!! Good thing every cafe on the island also sells it. It is outstanding ice cream.
Pistachio and a chocolate for me!
Just chocolate for Brad. Outside the store we struck up a con with an American family near the start of their trip. They wanted a lot of advice on DLP.
After ice cream we headed over to the Pantheon. Cording to Google it was open for two more hours. Google lied it had closed an hour before we got there. The building was still nice to see. From there we headed to Luxembourg Gardens with a pit stop at McDonald’s for drinks, bathroom, and we decided to try their macarons. The macarons, ok but not Laduree quality. We got a nice spot near the fountains and people watched for quite awhile. B and T may have fallen asleep.
