I don't think that will carry over another year. Maybe all this speculation of some sort of Hoopla for the first part of October could be an answer to this question!

I would agree. I bet they will announce some new theme for 2009 (and probably 2010) that will bridge to the 40th celebration of 2011. Maybe no major promotion to speak of. Do people think the 40th celebration would run 10/2010 - 12/2011 or 10/2011 (in line with actual opening) - 12/2012?

Knowing Disney they will have the 40th celebration for about a year to get as much money as possible. :ROFLOL:

Every year does not have to be a celabration. Celebrations should be reserved for special years.(WDWs 25th, 2000,100 Years of Magic, DL's 50th etc.) It is painfully obvious that some higher ups (cough Rasulo cough)noticed that these celebrations drive attendance and after Disneyland's 50th ended they realised there was nothing to celebrate so they thought "Hey, Lets make up a celebration and shove it down everyones throats as if it actually meant something. Thus the Year of a Million Dreams which has turned into the two and a half years of a Million Dreams.

Fake Press Release said:
The Year of a Million Nightmares-- Horrible surprises lurk behind every corner, with the special Nightmare Squad coming at any time to steal family members, take your cash, or offer compulsory night's stays at Disney's Labor Camp Resort. New attractions at the resort include American Idol and probably another Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, proving that Walt Disney World truly is the place where nightmares come true.

It could happen. :lookaroun

You mean the 27 months of two million dreams? I think that'll be over. Haven't we heard about some sort of Magical Celebrations )or some similar name) promotion that would be a smaller YoMD and only offer certain parts of that giveaway? I wish I could remember what the rumor said it would be called...

Celebrations

Look it is my first post!!!
Hi all, I have been lurking on this board for a while and when I saw this topic I had to jump in.

Yes, the new disney marketing campaign will be about "Celebrations" as in birthdays, weddings, etc.

My DH and I recently had a DFTVR that Disney marketing videotaped for this next campaign. We were also interviewed (in full wedding regalia no less!) on camera and I will be curious to see where this footage ends up!

BTW the VR was very cool - I will be putting together a TR very soon, as I just got the pix. We had a ceremony at the WP, a cocktail hour in the Tusker House, and then a plated dinner in FOTLK with the show performed! (Timon was not moving his mouth yet!)

I read something similar. It'll be along the same lines as the "Magical Gatherings" campaign from a few years ago. Not necessarily a "celebration" like 100 Years of Magic or YOAMD, but more of a marketing campaign. Magical Gatherings was "It's great to visit WDW as a group!", the new one will be "It's great to visit WDW to celebrate a special occasion!"

I'm glad to hear that the YOAMD is coming to a close...need different Mouse Ears....but I will admit on my last trip I did win a lot of TOAMD prizes and the two times before including around the kick off of the celebration...nothing.
