YAY!!!! This morning I was having coffee with my Mom and right there on the table were her plans for our next trip :-). We will be leaving on March 30th and as you all know I'm very very excited. She planned to book us at Coronado Springs. We always stay on property but this is our first time staying at Coronado. Any thoughts for or against the resort? and is anyone else going in March????

Hi dclfan

Coronado Springs is our favorite of the moderate resorts. Yes, it's large and your room could be far from the main building (which can also be true at Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans Riverside), but we love many aspects of the resort, especially the theming. The grounds are absolutely beautiful.

We also enjoy The Pepper Market very much, the gelato at Cafe Rix, drinks at Rix Nightclub, and love 'The Lost City of Cibola' pyramid pool at the 'Dig Site'. We also occasionally have hit the fitness center, something that most of the mods don't have. Coronado seems to have more of an 'adult' feel because of the convention facilities, and the number of business guests present. Since we've nobody under 19 in our family, that's fine for us. :-)

Hope you enjoy your stay there.

You'll love it, it's our favorite moderate resort for all the same reasons listed by the PP. The only downside (if you consider it one) is the location. It's a little "out of the way" compared to the other moderates but since we always rent a car that means nothing to us. In my opinion, the pool, pool bar and food and theming are the best of any resort.

I love CSR! Besides having a great main pool area, CSR also offers many deluxe amenities at a mod price.

CSR has queen beds while the other mods have doubles like the values. The rooms have been recently renovated and are gorgeous.

CSR has a fitness center, spa, tanning beds, a sauna, salon, full menu room service and a night club.

CSR has a sliding wooden door separating the sink area from the room instead of a privacy curtain like the other mods.

CSR has the same toiletries as the deluxes (except GF). CSR has separate shampoo and conditioner instead of the shampoo/conditioner combo at the other mods and values (a small thing, I know, but it means I don't have to pack shampoo and conditioner).

CSR has the largest hot tub of the mods and one of the longest pool slides on Disney property. The pool, slide and playground area is great.

It also has the best transportation of all the mods and the quickest rides to all 4 parks.

We stayed at CSR the first 2 years it was open...and we enjoyed it very much...yes its a large resort and you could find yourself with a hike to a bus stop or to the main building but its beatiful. We have been back severel times just to have lunch at Pepper Market. The only down fall we found on our second trip was during the week the main building and Pepper Market can get very busy mid day when conventions let out for lunch. I think you will enjoy it very much!!! Hope you all have a AWESOME trip!!!

My wife, DD and I stayed there for 12 nights in August and absolutely loved it. The first bit of advice I would give is to check out Buzz2001's website. It has a lot of great information and really put us over the top in deciding to stay there. I actually have to disagree with a few of the PP's about the bus service. We found that it was probably one of the best locations around. We stayed in Cabana 9A and actually had two bus stops pretty close to us. We would walk to the front of the resort and take the bus from there when we were going to a park because it would leave the resort immediately after. We found that there was never more than maybe a 10-12 minute drive and that was to MK. DAK, EPCOT and DHS were all even closer. The main pool is awesome. From where we were, it wasn't a very long walk either. We were also right next to a quiet pool and the laundry facility.

You have to try the Maya Grill for both breakfast and dinner. Really enjoyed our meals there. The pepper market was pretty cool too.

I would call Disney and ask if 9A is considered a preferred room location. If it isn't or you don't mind paying the upgrade to a preferred room, I would request that building.

Happy Planning!

Coronado is our favorite resort, but since beinf DVC members for the past 8 years has kept us from staying there. We do occasionally visit for a meal at Maya Grill or even the Pepper Market. I Find that the resort only gets more beautiful at night. Try taking a walk around the resort in the evenings. We would come back from the parks and get off at the main building (El Centro), get a margarita and take a nice stroll around the lagoon prior to retiring to our room.

There are 3 main sections, Castitas, Cabanas and Ranchos. I like the Castitas because they are closer to the El Centro and you also have covered walkways between all castitas and the main building. It is the only section that does and it is nice on those rainy days. Also in Castitas 3 is the health club and the only pool in WDW that is lined to be a lap pool (if you like swimming). Depending on where you are located in the Castitas like bldg 3 or 4, the walk to the main pool (the Dig Site) could be long.

I hope you enjoy your trip and have fun planning.

My family (husband and 4 year old son) stayed there and in my opinion the best mod resort. People will tell you how far things are and they are, but not in a bad way. If you want to be close just request a room near the place you like to be close to. Bus service was excellent (bus stop #2 is the first pick up and drop off) behind Casitas building was where we were and it was great! If you like to stroll around a beautiful lake in the morning and grab a cup of coffee at the Pepper Market....then this is the place for you! Close ride to the Studios and AK and Epcot, a little farther to the MK, but who cares when you are at Disney? Don't listen to all the negatives...every minute at Disney should be enjoyed...even the walks and bus rides! ENJOY:wave:

Also-the BEST site for all Coronado Springs info is Buzz's..he posted above....he was awesome and even e-mail me answers to some questions! He is better than a Disney site!

Thanks for all the wonderful replies :-). After reading your comments we have definitley decided to stay at the Coronado Springs. We took a look at some of the pictures on allears and loved what we saw. The rooms look really nice and I like the sliding double doors and the pepper market looks very nice can't wait to have breakfast there in the morning.

We always rent a car so the size of the hotel won't be an issue.

Loved the resort, but could have done without the long walks, especially when we were tired at the end of the day. We stayed in Casitas 5, I believe, which was close to bus stop 2. Since we did the bus it was perfect because it's the first stop on the circuit.
Rooms were nice and we enjoyed the large pool, but only ate at the Pepper Market 3 or 4 times in a week because of the walk I mentioned.
I preferred Port Orleans French Quarter because of it's smaller size, but that's my personal take.

Castitas 5 is about the longest walk you can have. If you go back, ask for Castitas 3. You still are close to bus stop 2 and the walk is much shorter to El Centro.
