Crush Dude!

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!

From what I can see this place looks like a great spot to get some eats in AK but should we go eat at the table service or the counter service?

How do you guys rate both restaurants???

We've tried and liked both....depends what you're looking for...for me it's hard to beat this part of the park for atmosphere and theming...

Table service meal was good at lunchtime, - we found service upstairs was better (more relaxed and attentive), remember having a good dim sum starter to share, and a couple of cold beers, life's pretty good!

Counter food was piping hot, though pretty limited choice the flavour was good (orange chicken and rice from memory). I do like getting my little box meal to go and sit by the river, or at parade time pull up a couple of chairs from beside the river and watch the world go by.

Enjoy whichever you do, or even better try both

We only went for TS, & had great seats upstairs with a nice view.

I rate it pretty high, but it gets mixed reviews. Even my wife didn't like it as much as I did. Like a lot of places at WDW, the desserts are the best thing on the menu.

We rate both as excellent. We went to Yak & Yeti restaurant shortly after they opened and it immediately became one of our favorite places to dine. We make sure it's one of the first ADR we make. The counter service also is a favorite. Of course the meal served inside the restaurant would win out over the counter service because of the atmosphere, the service, the more meal choices and attention we get at the table. Both are winners, you choose what you have the time and money for.

The restaurant is great but I can't compare to the CS b/c I've never tried it. If you do dine inside may I suggest the Wok Fried Green Beans (you can order a side instead of an appetizer if it's too much), the Miso Salmon, and the Fried Wontons for dessert. :slurp:

Great, now I'm craving it!

We had Yak n Yeti Counter Service a few years ago (2010) and it was not good. Not a lot of sauce, very hard breading on the chicken. Not good at all.

But the pics of the TS look much better.

We went to the table service Yak & Yeti twice on our honeymoon- and looooved the won-ton soup (piping hot with wonderful fried crunchy wontons on the side). The salad was HUGE and on the second visit we split the beef & broccoli- yum!!!
The only downside was the noise level on the 2nd floor-kinda loud.

The servers were nice- and the view from the mint green colored room (2nd floor) was great...we didn't carfe for being seated in the centoer of the room on the second floor- it was kinda like being seated in a busy corridor, so we asked & got a different table.

I ate in the dining room when it first opened - I was not thrilled. Maybe it has improved. The food was run of the mill quick fry "chinese food" with industrial sauce on it. The Pho was just all kinds of wrong.

Now, the counter service, that was run of the mill "chinese food" as well. But somehow it is better when that is what you are expecting and it is served in a cardboard container to go. I would eat the CS again.

We've dined at the table service a couple times. Both times we went for lunch and stuck to sharing a few appetizers. We really enjoyed both meals, especially the most recent one, which we took at the bar.

I love Yak & Yeti and eat there at every visit -- the food is somewhat overpriced asian/fusian, with some generic meals as well. If you aren't into the asian food, then this is NOT the place to grab a burger or salad...Look at the menu in the menu section.

The Counter service is COMPLETELY different food than the sit-down restaurant. The food at the counter service is good, though somewhat bland, heavily flavored with onions rather than spices in the sit-down restaurant.

Overall, meat dishes here are better than chicken dishes.

One of the cool things you can do if you do the table service is try to time your meal with the parade. If you request a table upstairs next to the windows its a great way to dine and watch the parade. It may be of note that the restaurant isn't run by Disney, but by Landry's of Rain forest and T-Rex notoriety. That notoriety being over priced for ho hum food. That said, I haven't had a better meal at a Landry's than this one.

BOTH! We always do CS at Y & Y. Its delicious! But when we had the Deluxe Dining Plan, we went inside to eat at the TS. Same great food (of course loads more choices) and the dessert! Oh my! The fried wonton dessert thingy! It was AMAZING! It is our favorite place to eat at AK! :slurp:

I tried the CS a few years ago. Didn't like it. The meal was really heavy. I'm not sure since it was a really hot day if that had something to do with it. My husband thought the same thing.

We ate CS lunch in 2008 and really didn't care for it... Seemed liked crappy chinese food.... We made reservations at the TS for our upcoming trip in Aug. The menu looks great and I thought it would be great to get out of the heat...since AK doesn't have much air-conditioning!
