Looking at the thread title, I was expecting a thread about the person posting it from WDW, which I am doing coincidentally. Anyhow, in reply to the OP, the smell of Disney waterride water does it for me, as well as the vanilla on Main Street.

My top list:
1. Riding the Monorail hearing the spiel...and smelling that monorail must which I love!
2. The damp water ride smell, POTC is the classic example and it is such a powerful smell in terms of memory
3. The smell of exhaust from the Disney Busses
4. The Florida morning smell, I don't quite know how to describe it.

Oddly enough whenever I experience some of these things when I am home here outside of Philly, they really get my senses moving! Especially the exhaust from the local SEPTA public transportation buses. As well as the morning smell we sometimes get here in Philly since it can get pretty dang muggy in the summer believe it or not!
Ahhhh I can't wait until august when I start my College Program down in Disney!!!:sohappy:

Driving through the arch. Stopping to get the parking pass at the little hut at the entrance to WL. "Welcome Home" from the bell staff. That BLAST of cold air as you enter the lobby. Emerging from the train tunnel into Town Square and hearing the music!

-When I pass the family who's trying to take a picture in front of something big and memorable in a park and ask the guy who's stuck with Camera duty "hey, don't you wanna be in that picture?" and they kindly agree as they hand over the camera for me to take it for them.

-When I slowly start walking down mainstreet and squint my eyes to see how far i have to go to see the first defining Glimpse of the Statue of Walt and Mickey in the Courtyard as Cinderella's Castle overlooks the two.

-when the huge floodlights hit your eyes and make your eyes hurt for just a millisecond as they pass throughout the stage seating for Fantasmic! .
+The gunfire sound of one of the British Troops as the Pocahontas scene comences in the show
+When the florescent lights blasts onto the dark stage and all you see are glowing savahnah animals.
+At the very end, when Mickey "transports" all the way from the highest top of the mountain to the bottom and gives out the infamous line "Some Imagination, huh?"
+The remaining 26 minutes of Fantasmic which i have yet to describe.

-Smell of Sweet Roasted Almonds.

Actually just as soon as I check in to my hotel I start on my YES I AM AT DISNEY mode. But it really hits me when I walk onto Main Street from under the train station and look down Main Street at the Castle. It brings a tear to my eye every time. I just stop for a moment and take in my surroundings....yes, I am in my Happy Place!

Goosebumps...

I get goosebumps from 3 things...
1. My first monorail ride when I hear "Please stand clear of the doors".
2. When I see the big WELCOME to DISNEYWORLD sign on the highway.(I ALWAYS try to take a picture, but usually miss.)
3. But the big one that brings tears to my eyes, walking down main street, and FINALLY seeing the CASTLE..:sohappy:

My first sight of the castle does it for me every year. I cannot explain why, but it really means that "vacation has begun". The other is the COP. My daughter and I have been riding it for 10 years, and we "connect" on it every year. Amazing.

No place in the world makes me feel like I do when I am at Disney. Not since 1966. At California, it's the Castle as well.

May the magic go on forever.

I LOVE this thread, I'll post my favorite parts of the parks in locale format...

First...the WDW gate on Rt. 536 onto property...can't get anywhere else without that! :sohappy:

Magic Kingdom: "Por favor mantangese alejardo de las puertas."...passing through the turnstiles, through the tunnel, looking down MS at the castle...the smell of popcorn and the upbeat BGM...Pirates and Splash water...DDCT parade...Dream Along With Mickey...Spectromen and the music...Wishes finale (those loud white cracklies at the end get me every time)..."Wishes" theme and finally, electric water pagaent.

Epcot: Turnstiles...Spaceship Earth ("Like a grand and miraculous spaceship...RIP :( )..."Soarin to Tower, we are clear for takeoff"...Innoventions area music...Fountain of Nations...Off Kilter...PRE-ILLUMINATIONS MUSIC (which I listen to at 8:30 every night I can)...and finally, the best 13 minutes one can experience in Disney, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth!

Disney-MGM-Pixar Studios: Movie themes in the entrance plaza...Walking around the big hat and enjoying the Mann Theater...MuppetVision 3D Preshow, just a bit more then the main show which is brilliant in itself...R&RC Launch...Tower of Terror queue and attraction...Fantasmic preshow music...the white spots and the grand finale and quote...

Animal Kingdom: Walking through the forest into the park...Festival of the Lion King...Everest queue and ride...

Downtown Disney: Motion's energy...Mannequins' 9:30 lightshow and CO2 cool blasts...Comedy Warehouse laughs...the scent of fine cigars I won't smoke as I walk by the cigar shop...Earl of Sandwich...Virgin Megastore...

Passing under the WDW arch (if we drive) or boarding the DME buss if we fly.

As much as I love the MK (sightof the castle, etc as others have mentioned), my family identifies with Illuminations. We have to watch it the first night we arrive and the last night before we leave.

Entering the Polynesian and WHAM! Getting hit with the humid tropical smell of a rain forest. It has been know to people in my family simply as..."The Smell" and never fails to excite us.

Por favor, mantenganse allejado de las puertas:sohappy:

For me it would have to be:

- Getting off the plane and feeling the Floradia heat!

- Getting off the plane and seeing the Disney store at MCO Airport.

- Leaving the MCO Airport and seeing all the billboards for attractions.

- Driving to MK and seeing signs saying where all the parks and resorts are.

- Getting to see SSE on the way to MK.

I love beating my family onto Main St. and watching them look at the Castle.

I also love ROE- to me, it is the very best of Disney.

There are several things that finally clicks in my head and I think, "Wow, I'm in WDW!"

1. Seeing the "Welcome to WDW!" sign as you drive up. Always gets me.

2. Getting ready for the first day hitting the parks. That's when it finally hits me.

3. Seeing the enterance of MK, walking under the train station, seeing MS:USA , and seeing Cinderella's Castle. Always gets me.

4. The music that is played throughout all of the parks. It just feels like I'm in another world.

5. Riding certain classic rides (ex: POTC, HM, etc.)

There are more but too many for me to list.

Simple for me. After first entering MK, taking that turn onto the main part of Main Street USA and getting my first glimpse of the castle. ...I hope I can feel that again, this November will mark 7 years since I've been there. I want to go back so so badly...

Definetly the food at Port Orleans Riverside's food court. It just has that distinct smell that makes you sooooo happy (and hungry).

So I was looking at pictures the other day of past trips to WDW and thinking about the awesomeness of everything there. So my question is, what sight, smell, taste, or sound just boom! brings a smile to your face and makes you realize you're in Disney World? (Apologies if this was posted already)

For me I got a couple:
1.) The monorail ride! Just hearing " Welcome Aboard the Walt Disney World Express Monorail" brings a smile to my face!
2.) This is the big one, during Wishes! towards the end at When You Wish upon a Star, when the big golden fireworks go up over the castle. I get chills everytime and it brings back so many happy memories! I just think, "Wow, how lucky am I to be here!"

So how about all of you?

The 4:00 every day storm
& checking in.

How interesting... I thought I was the only one weird enough to savor that odd smell of the water rides! Splash in particular has a certain smell, which seems to come from the air conditioning vents inside the ride... Everytime I smell something similar, i think, "Aww, i need some Splash Mountain."

But for me, my tradition is heading to the MK as soon as i arrive, and spending a long time strolling down Main Street, taking in the sights, smells, and sounds... looking at every display, and so on. At that moment, i'm "recharged" and ready to go WDW-ing.
