Wouldn't it kind of suck if...

Guys, guys, guys.....this discussion is all a moo point, like a cow's opinion. Disney would simply erect their weather dome. Now, i know it takes 5-10 mintes to get it all the way up and some folks might get wet and gusty, but that's no reason for a "free vacation".

Disney is not responsible for your vacation based on acts of God. WDW does a very good job of closing, preparing, and cleanup to be open the next day.

What would really suck is if you were camping.

Walt originally planned to build a large dome over the entire resort, but Crofton nixed it. TDO is destroying WDW. They are destroying everything. :lookaroun:lookaroun:lookaroun

Disney wouldn't owe its guests anything except protection, shelter, and sustenance during any time that they're trapped in the parks or the resorts. No apologies, no perks, nada. It's the weather, and the weather does what it wants to do.

As for the experience, though... I'm old enough to have been in Houston when Carla came through. The eye didn't hit us, but it was close enough that there was extensive damage and some neighborhoods were without power and even water for days, and a few for a week or more.

First, sitting through a hurricane is sort of an adventure, as long as you don't lose power or have any damage that has an immediate effect on you. It's almost (not quite) fun. As said above, it's the aftermath that really sucks. Sort of like a car wreck, where the excitement is over but the clean-up seems to take forever.

Second, considering how much I'd have spent to get to Disney, I'd be majorly torqued. Not at Disney, because it wouldn't be their fault. Not at anybody or anything, in fact. Just -- really steamed in general. At the inconvenience, at the fright (yeah, they're scary), and at the wasted money. THAT would make me mad, and I'm afraid it could sour me on the whole Disney idea.

So, I think I'll keep an eye on hurricane tracts, and NOT go during hurricane season. You can't adjust Disney quality plans on the short time frame that hurricane evasion requires, so best to just avoid the issue entirely and avoid that time of year.

Or spend the $66.95 per adult for WDW package insurance or use another travel insurance provider and protect your financial investment!
