Would you be upset?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
You don't have to go thru all of that trouble. Just use the shop parks app and they will deliver it to the resort.

I don't think the GF would have done more than a $100 credit tbh. It's an annoying situation but should be able to be handled relatively quickly.

Agree with all points. And also to point out for the OP... GF and SSR are both deluxe category resorts and I also have stayed at both with no problems at all like this. So not fair to say you get what you pay for being both are in the same resort category deluxe/deluxe villa resorts. It's not like one was a value and one was deluxe. Lol And even then it would of not affected the solution offered. $100 credit is fair. You can charge the items to the room you repurchase and voila same as having a gift card. :)

I agree, I think a gift card would of been a much better solution especially since the manager knows you have to go and buy everything again.
I'm not sure how a gift card and a room credit are different, especially in this case. If the sum of items thrown away was $100 and you're given a $100 credit, what's the advantage of one over the other?
I didn't realize at first that money was given back. The items were purchased at the parks so obviously they're easily replaceable. Of course it's better to have not happened at all, but it did, a refund was given, all items can be purchased from a phone and delivered to the resort. There's no reason to go back to the locations.

We had this happen at the Poly when they threw out our Star Wars BB-8 box. I wanted the box to make sure it got home safe in the suitcase (plus I keep boxes for collectible items) It took awhile but mgmt. tracked down a whole new boxed item for us and switched them out. I was kind of flabbergasted they would throw something away not in the garbage (or take)

Gee, I never gave this a thought before. I can't believe they took your bags. I leave bags all over the room (on tables, countertops), and never have I had them taken. I also take empty Disney bags home to use and just remind me of WDW! So sorry this happened to you!

Hello. Yes I would be upset. If they had acknowledged and shown some empathy right from the beginning I think this would not have left you so upset.
Unfortunately whatever company we deal with we are always also dealing with individuals. My partner would still be spitting feathers over it and I would be trying to get him to calim down and get over it so we could carry on enjoying our holiday.

I would have been upset too. I leave bags on the tables and chairs. It has never occurred to me that they might be thrown out (especially when there are items inside). I save the receipts for when we go through airport security just in case.
It looks like they attempted to make things right with the $100 credit, but if you are upset by the way it was handled (ie. the post it) then you should let them know. Just be aware that the best you can hope for is an acknowledgment that it may not have been the most professional way to respond to the situation.
Thanks for posting. I will definitely be more cautious with my bags from now on. Hopefully you still managed to have a magical trip.

I've had various issues with housekeeping at other hotels, so years ago I learned to always leave the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. We can go a week without housekeeping and we don't care about a perfectly made bed. If we need more towels, we'll just call housekeeping and have them delivered while we're in our room. Plus, some of the cleaners they use will trigger my asthma so it works best for us. Although, in October we didn't have the Do Not Disturb sign in our room so I had them deliver one to us when we first checked in. It was waiting for us when we came back the first day along with our luggage.

I would be angry that they threw real stuff out too. But I can't help but think about the posts I see where people complain that housekeeping does a bad job, doesn't clean enough. It almost seems they can't win, throw stuff out, don't throw stuff out.

OP--I hope you have good luck re-buying everything you lost.

This here!!!! This is the best solution by far to making sure that your belongings are left alone!!!! Put the DND sign out and call to switch out toiletries if needed. This is what we do when we go.

Also, with all the stories of people's personal items being stolen and such, why would you leave the door open (literally) to someone coming in and bam! there's your things you bought sitting on the table or floor in front of them. Sounds somewhat irresponsible, but to each their own.

Unless they are large items, common sense (dangerous words, I know) should kick in and you should put them in your luggage and lock it up.

As for the situation at hand? Well, they gave you a $100 credit. No, that doesn't help with going back out and getting items, but who's saying that the OP is being honest about this? If they bought a couple small things that were not a significant amount of money, and now have a $100 credit, well, they're making out pretty good. Not everything turns up positive this time of year. There are many scams out there. I hope this isn't one, but at the same time, some parts just don't add up.

The OP didn't claim to know that they had exactly $100 worth of merchandise in the bag. They said that they had some small items that were worth less than $100. I'm sure that the manager at the resort didn't think they were crediting them the exact amount of the merchandise. The OP probably just said "less than $100" and they credited $100 as a round number. I don't know for sure, of course, but nothing about that rings out as a potential scam.

Wow, I've stayed at SSR several times and left bags all over and never had them touched. I would room charge my items that I had to re-shop for and use that $ 100 room credit that way.

A gift card is better in this situation because it's easier to repurchase all the items and just pay for them with the gift card instead of a credit card and having to pay interest on them again. Also, a lot of people use multiple credit cards so it's possible the room payment is not on the same card that was used to purchase these items.

Isn't the expectation that she will use the MagicBand as she can charge $100 to the room before her bill goes up from where it currently is? Makes perfect sense to me. Gift cards can go missing.

For the record, we've left our purchases on the table for years and would be flabbergasted in this situation. We've sporadically dealt with rude CMs at deluxe resorts and it is quite off-putting. Personally, due to some Mousekeeping hassles, we are more than happy to be DVC members without daily cleaning.

That's what I'm saying, not downplaying the mistake by housekeeping..but gift card or room credit the items can be replaced without any money out of pocket, it's not adding anything to the bill.

That's terrible but that's good you actually got a room credit out of them. Rare.
Not that rare. It's actually pretty commonplace to comp someone for an error like this. Part of that world-class service that most CMs (not all) at the Disney resorts still provide. We had an issue with Mousekeeping at AKL and eventually got a manager who solved the problem reasonably (our room was never getting made-up because our then-2-y.os. napped from 1-3 and the Mousekeeping folks refused to change the time our room was serviced). We got a good manager on the phone who agreed with us that kids are allowed to nap at WDW and he quickly changed our room-servicing time to 10 am. We didn't expect anything else but he then offered to give us a small credit for the missed Mousekeeping. I thought it was quite classy.

Ok, when I read room credit I took that as $100 off the total rate of the nightly hotel price. I didn't think about that credit being applied towards the magic band room charge. That does make sense.

I could write a book about my experiences with service at the Disney Resorts but I'll refrain :)
Glad you had a good experience though
