Would you be upset?

this is why i travel with an extra duffelbag if its a trip where i'm going to be buying lots of souveniers, that way i can keep everything organized and "put away" and i usually keep all my belongings either inside my suitcase or inside the closet, i dont leave jackets and different things scattered around the room

occasionally you have to leave swimsuits out though so they can dry

i'm very ocd about making sure things don't get lost in a hotel room

i can see how something like this could happen though with the way hotel room garbage cans are so tiny

i normally put the garbage cans in the bathroom so then that eliminates things falling into it or being too close to it and getting confused

while the do not disturb thing may work for some, if i'm paying big bucks for a room i like for it to get made up and get fresh towels without a hassel

I'm in a Disney Facebook group and a few days ago a lady posted saying that when she returned to her room from the parks, the left shoe of 6 pairs of shoes was missing. Right away everyone thought it was a joke (something from Lilo and Stitch I guess, but I've never seen it so idk) but she kept posting updates all week insisting that Disney bought her new shoes.

Not sure of the point of my story, just thought u all would like it;)

Not that uncommon for any hotel. I stayed at a very nice hotel in Savannah two years ago and my gf put her favourite heels and some laundry in a paper bag with handles. Room keeping came in and SWOOSHED it all away.

They were very nice about it though, they actually sent an employee into the trash compactor who dug out the laundry but the shoes couldn't be located so (after a little polite haggling) they actually paid us $150 cash for the inconvenience.

I think you certainly have a right to be upset. Things you purchased were thrown away even if they were only less than $100 in purchases that is still money you spent and time you spent. Even if you left the bags on the bed or even on the floor in your room the housekeepers should have at least checked the bags to see if any merchandise was in the bags. The part of being rude and not really apologizing is a whole other ball of wax which unfortunately Disney does seem to be slipping in the customer service area, but it is nowhere near as bad as places outside of Disney. The bottom line is this was a headache for you and something that you had to give extra unwanted time to that you didn't want to while on vacation. That in itself should be something they should apologize for.

I regret that I am DVC member at Saratoga Springs. THE WORST PLACE TO STAY ON SITE. It's been over 7 years and I have always had problems when I stay there. If I had known I would have picked a different resort as home. There is no welcome home at SSR. It's only use is back up for any days that there are not any other rooms available anywhere else on property. I feel for your bad experience there. You are not alone.

What does housekeeping throwing away your bags have to do with 'now the Disney you grew up with and love?'

Because WDW became what it was on the back of Disney CUSTOMER SERVICE and WOWING it's guests.

Disney didn't come to greatness because Dumbo was the best spinner on the planet... the WDW experience was one that impressed people in presentation, service, and satisfaction.

The old stories about how clean Disney parks were not so much about people really needing sterile parks.. but a testament to how far and dedicated Disney was to the task. The same was true of customer service and guest relations. The stories of Disney giving people new clothes after an incident, etc.. it's not that alternatives weren't available, it was the lengths Disney went to correct and minimize the impact of things... to the point it blew people away. And that's why people didn't mind paying the Disney Premium.. because they felt they were getting a premium service and product.

One of the many reasons we don't like housekeeping into our room on any day during our stay. I just don't like the idea of someone messing with our stuff. We don't usually stay more than a week, give or take a day. But if someone had come into my room and trashed items I had purchased, I would be raising holy hell haha.

Issue today at Saratoga Springs. Housekeeping threw away all My shopping bags. I was quite upset. Only a few Items were in them, but I did want those receipts as many of the items were gifts, and I also did want the bags for gifts. So, I called the front desk to let them know. First, Someone called who was very unsympathetic and in my opinion, insinuated the incidents were my fault and seemed to think it ridiculous I was upset. He was actually quite rude. I call the front desk again, and the girl was very kind. Then a manager came to my door who was also kind. However, she later sent me a text message to inform me how the situation would be resolved. She did not call. I came home to my room to find a note from her written on a post-it. Now where on this note is there any apology or any kind. This is not the disney I know, I love, I grew up with. Nobody asked if I was okay with the resolution. I also feel text messages and post-it's are less than professional in circumstances like these. Really, if someone has just apologized and asked how I would like them to handle it, it could have been remedied quite easily. I am upset, sad, and have to rebuy items. I had spent a lot of time and now have to spend more fixing this, looking up what I charged to my cc, etc. Disney use to make the effort and go the extra mile with costumer service. I was really disappointed.

I'm sorry to hear this. That's awful and yes I would be upset and would chew them out. Unfortunately, Disney has gone down hill when it comes to resolving situations like this.
