Would you be upset?

Issue today at Saratoga Springs. Housekeeping threw away all My shopping bags. I was quite upset. Only a few Items were in them, but I did want those receipts as many of the items were gifts, and I also did want the bags for gifts. So, I called the front desk to let them know. First, Someone called who was very unsympathetic and in my opinion, insinuated the incidents were my fault and seemed to think it ridiculous I was upset. He was actually quite rude. I call the front desk again, and the girl was very kind. Then a manager came to my door who was also kind. However, she later sent me a text message to inform me how the situation would be resolved. She did not call. I came home to my room to find a note from her written on a post-it. Now where on this note is there any apology or any kind. This is not the disney I know, I love, I grew up with. Nobody asked if I was okay with the resolution. I also feel text messages and post-it's are less than professional in circumstances like these. Really, if someone has just apologized and asked how I would like them to handle it, it could have been remedied quite easily. I am upset, sad, and have to rebuy items. I had spent a lot of time and now have to spend more fixing this, looking up what I charged to my cc, etc. Disney use to make the effort and go the extra mile with costumer service. I was really disappointed.
Am I out of line?
Would you be upset?

Were they just empty bags with receipts or?
There were a few things in one of the bags. I mean less than $100, nothing major. I'm more annoyed by the way it was handled. Just apologize. Be understanding. Does that make sense? Is there somewhere in my room I can put bags and not be afraid they will be tossed?

Did you use a credit card to buy the items? Or your Magic band account? They should be able to somehow track the purchases and probably get you receipts.

Yeah, in your locked luggage. Also, many of the times you think you are calling and talking to someone at the hotel you actually aren't, you're talking to someone at a call center nowhere near Disney.

Mixture of all plus cash. It's just a Bummer that I have to do now make the calls and figure it out and I just wanted acknowledgement that it sucked.

I wouldn't think it's necessary to put your stuff in the safe, I did keep my wallet in there though. Not sure where your bags were, but the suggestions of a closet shelf or in a drawer are what I do. I keep things on the dresser, table, and bathroom sink..but I don't leave anything on the floors or beds when we go out of the room for the day.

Yes some was on the floor, my mistake, but others were on top of the television.

Your complaint does not seem out of line.

At where I work, our housekeepers are not allowed to dispose of any bags / boxes of guests staying-over unless the items are blatant garbage. (Ex: an empty pizza box, fast food bag with trash, etc.) But if it's even just an empty plastic bag on the floor, our housekeepers are instructed to simply fold it up, and set aside (can be near the trash can) just in case. What if that plastic bag which seems like "garbage" is being saved by the guest intentionally to carry belongings back home, or some other purpose? What if there is a tiny piece of jewelry, a kid's toy, or something else virtually unseen tucked away in the corner of it?

Housekeeping policies change depending on property, but yeah, you are not unresaonable for being upset.

I suggest going to the concierge desk. Have them pull up your bill and they will be able to see it all, much easier than dealing with time it will take to make all of the calls yourself.

It sucks, and it's very surprising that a housekeeper would throw away items. Try concierge one more time.

Thank you. I appreciate someone putting it in context. Thank you.

So at first I read your post and thought "omg, get over it, it's just bags and receipts that you can get again" but then I realized actual items were tossed too and now I fully agree with you, Id be ed if the manager didn't cover the cost of what was thrown away. You shouldn't have to hide stuff for it to be not thrown away. The safes arent big enough for much either.

I just got back Friday (2 days ago) from a 12 day trip between the FW Cabins and PO French Quarter and we had bags left on the table, TV stand, the other beds and nothing was thrown away. They were all put together a few days but nothing was thrown away.

What did the manager do for you?

She gave me $100 towards my room bill. Honestly that's what it is. I'd have rathered a gift card because of how the room bill is paid v what cc I used for the items. I realize she isn't going to do more. It's not the money. Now I have to spend the time to go back and purchase the items. Also don't text me and leave post-it's. We usually don't stay at Saratoga Springs. We won't again. I know this would have been handled differently at the GF and I guess you get what you pay for. We won't stay here again.

You don't have to go thru all of that trouble. Just use the shop parks app and they will deliver it to the resort.

I don't think the GF would have done more than a $100 credit tbh. It's an annoying situation but should be able to be handled relatively quickly.

I agree, I think a gift card would of been a much better solution especially since the manager knows you have to go and buy everything again.

Don't blame it on SSR. It could have happened at any resort. We've stayed at many of the resorts in the past and have never had this problem, including at SSR. Sorry for your luck, but looks like it was more the MouseKeeper you got instead of the Resort as a whole.
