In the past, I have entertained the idea of working at WDW after I retire. Friends and guests at WDW have even suggested I do so. Now that I am retired, I find the idea of working again much less appealing. I hear so many say that their "dream" is to work for Disney and all I have to say is: remove those pixie dust covered glasses!
1. Don't move to Florida unless you already have a job lined up....jobs are scarce and low paying. If that is your only income, you won't be able to live on $8.50/hour.
2..You do not get to pick your job at WDW.... after a rigorous interview process, you are offered a position... take it or leave it.
3. As a cast member, you would be required to work in any weather condition... cold, rain, heat, high humidity.. and yes, nice days, too.
4. I can't recall that I ever saw a cast member sitting.....so, you would be required to stand or walk for long periods of time.
There seems to be quite a few retirees that work for Disney.... which is great as long as you don't need the money and want to work to stay active. This also fills a need for social interaction that can diminish quite a bit after you retire. As for me, I still plan to move to Florida at some point and hope to spend many leisure days in the parks.....but working there is no longer on my bucket list.
