Worst part of the Resorts and why?

People that put towels on ten lounge chairs at the pools, yet you never see them use one chair, much less all ten. But, I guess that is just inconsiderate people and not the resorts fault.

We are a family of five, so our resort choices are limited. Building so many resorts, you would have thought they could have added a few rooms to accommodate more than 4 people. We stayed at POR during our first visit in 2004 and loved the resort. Thankfully they updated to queen beds and the pull down. I had to sleep on the trundle once, not made for an adult.

And we always ask for extra towels; never had a problem.

We have stayed at every resort category value, moderate and deluxe and my only complaint is the cheerleaders at the value resorts, they completely take over the whole resort with no adult supervision, they can be found yelling out cheers at midnight, at 5am they do not care, they essentially hog up whole busses and hog all the tables at the food court. I have encountered groups of band kids, football players, baseball players but nonoe are as obnoxious as the cheerleaders.
Cheerleaders are annoying as hell? You don't say.... A group of women screaming and fake laughing is pure joy ;)

Not a huge fan of any value resort except for AoA-purely because of the noise, distance from the parks, and lack of food options. AoA is so cute & has such great options for larger families that it gets a pass. I could also see going to All-star Sports with a family of young or teenage boys to help balance out princess fatigue if WL or AKL wasn't in the budget. (but so many screaming teenagers...)

I've gotten to the point where I really enjoy spending time at the resorts, so ease of travel time is what I look for as well as amenities. For those reasons I tend to stay away from ALK & OKW (even though that is our DVC home resort). SSR is close to Disney Springs, but still a bit of a hike to some of the parks, so I still prefer a monorail resort or a Crescent Lake resort. SSR is also very spread out if you don't rent a car or aren't close to the lobby area.

Contemporary isn't my favorite because unless you have a theme park view, it just seems like a regular modern hotel with the fab five thrown into the mix. Meaning something you can get anywhere. My favorite thing about the WDW hotels is their lavish theming. I know there are some out there who feel this is sacrilegious. And I do still enjoy the restaurants there-again here it comes down to personal preference.

I prefer Boardwalk's DVC rooms to BC's due to the boardwalk views & the availability of grand villas, but hate Boardwalk's pool...the giant clown creeps me out.

I've stayed on site many times, and have had wonderful experiences. However, there are a few things, about certain resorts, that I don't care for. They are;

POFQ - I did not like how people pull their in-room chairs out of their rooms an onto the common balcony. I understand why they do it. Rooms are small, kids are sleeping, adults aren't ready to go to bed. But to me, it junks up the feel of the resort. It's like putting your couch on your front porch. If they put patio style chairs or benches out there, this would not bother me so badly.

Saratoga - Too big and lack of themeing (< is that even a word?). Felt like a big, modern (in construction, not design) apartment complex. Bleh.

AKL-KV - Too far away, from EVERYTHING. Too far from the parks. Too far from Jambo House. Too far to the rooms. The busses took forever. The shuttle to Jambo House was small (bus) and slow. I also wish KV had it's own quick service restaurant. This one, though, more so that the above mentioned SS and POFQ, has a plethora of great things going for it. It's beautifully themed. The rooms are big and comfortable. The pool and grounds are awesome. Sanaa (I hear) is fabulous, and come on, there are wild animals right outside! If you weren't trying to squeeze in all that park time, it would be a wonderful place to stay. It's just hard to spend all that precious time trying to get other places. Might be a perfect place for a slower paced trip, though.

.

Completly agree, I really just didn't feel like I was at Disney at Saratoga. Too quiet and too spread out. Only thing that redeemed it was being able to walk to DTD.

I totally agree about rooms for 5. I think one issue is that if they had slightly larger rooms with 5 beds, parties with fewer guests would just book them for some extra space.

I would say the food. But that includes the food at the WDW parks too.

Just think it's poor quality and pretty bad. But I also understand considering the amount of visitors they have.

Clearly, you've not eaten at Landscape of Flavors. Sooo good!

I agree about AKL. I felt like I was on the bus more the one time I stayed there then any other trips. I usually stay at POFQ ( probably stayed there at least 10 times in the last 15 years)and have never noticed anyone bring a chair out of their room. I always stay ground floor so maybe I just don't see it.

er adding a few more buses might do the trick.[/QUOTE]

We've seen it at CBR, POP, AllStarMu, AllStarMo, and AllStarSp.

I agree! I have noticed that people place towels on chairs, swim for a while and come back and get the towel and then never use the chair. Irritating and happens everywhere.

It really bothers me that there are no food courts or quick service restaurants open past midnight at the resorts. Since Disney offers magic hours till 2am, it would be kind of nice to be able to use those refillable mugs when you come back from a night out in the sweltering heat. They should have the fountain drink machines available 24 hours, in my opinion.

Isn't Capt Cook's 24/7? Although I know that's only one…

Oh,Gasparilla is, too. So now there's two...

biggest complaint from me too I think, sometime rolling in during the early hours a good hot chocolate would hit the spot. Same thing in the morning, we are early risers and a hot tea on the way to the resort would be great.

Bit of a non complaint but still something I would like to see

I guess the problem is they would then need at least one CM on duty, in case of a malfunction, or in case something runs out.

They have been adding rooms for more than 5. Both the All Star Suites and the AoA suites are fairly recent additions, and they have now added the pull down beds to CBR and to some studio villas.

Outside of mechanical failures (a/c going out kind of stuff) I think for most people what makes a stay negative always seems to come down to a customer service issue. Someone mentioned problems with housekeeping ...that sort of thing. For us we had our only bad stay club level at Boardwalk Inn and it really just came down to bad customer service which started with the front desk and that person's boss. The resort was gorgeous and I know it was just who we ended up dealing with but it just put such a bad taste in our mouth we haven't stayed there again.
