Worst Opening Day Attraction Still Open Today

Astro Orbiters. It is still the most fun spinner for the sake of thrill and height, but it also is the worst capacity situation and so ugly and unkept. The kinetic energy does not exist in the same way anymore and it could have been upgraded at some point for efficiency.

Tom sawyer island is fairly large (although in MK space constraints really shouldnt exist), and is not well utilized. A clear example is Aunt Pollys. If something was over at tom sawyer island that drew guests that restaurant would be open. Its great for kids but is dated (I assume most kids just enjoy running around it, with no idea of the IP), and if people might be surprised what all is there, like the rifles that you can point at people and pretend to shoot (little dated). Now logistically I dont know if much can be done with it, or if they are stuck with what it is. With ADA and its size, and getting people there etc, I dont know. I also dont know if Aunt Pollys real closure is due to logistics as well, staff and food.

Havent been to disneyland, is pirate island the same thing just rethemed to pirates? If thats the case, thats not worth doing, Id rather bulldoze and add something substantial (if possible)
Yes, Pirate Island was formerly TS Island. The fort is still there. They have added pirate touches all over the area. I haven't spent much time there but someone who has has posted about being able to search for coins that are hidden in the area. Interestingly, the Davey Crockett Canoe Adventure, which is more aligned with the former, is now less connected to the overall theming.

In order of least favorite first. The ones in red don't qualify as a "favorite" at all and could go away for something better. In green are attractions that are favored to various degrees.

  1. Prince Charming Regal Carousel
  2. Mad Tea Party
  3. Main Street Vehicles
  4. Country Bear Jamboree
  5. Tomorrowland Speedway
  6. Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  7. Hall of Presidents
  8. WDW Railroad
  9. Riverboat (I'm including this)
  10. Enchanted Tiki Room
  11. Peter Pan's Flight (I'm including this)
  12. Jungle Cruise
  13. It's a Small World

Tomorrowland Raceway I guess you could say. Not as good as the Autopia at Disneyland. Should be better, but isn't. Takes up a lot of space and for whatever reason has the most insane lines and we always skip it. There is nothing in that ride that I can't experience at, say, Darien Lake.

The lines are long because people enjoy it, especially little kids that want to ride it again and again, and come off with a smile ear to ear. As adults yes its boring and outdated, but for kids its a must do.

Should they use the electric cars they already have, yes. Could they theme it and get away from the race track theme, yes.

I think it is more because of how it loads. It doesn't load very well or fast.

Honestly, probably to me It's a Small World since they butchered the facade and made it look like a carnival stand instead. I also think it's by far the worst version of the ride compared to other parks.

I think you're missing a couple. Haunted Mansion and Swiss Family Treehouse off the top of my head, not that those are anywhere near the worst. The obvious choice, like you said, is Speedway. I don't mind being a conformist, so that's my final answer. It's a terrible waste of a huge plot of real estate, it's loud, it stinks, the list goes on and on.

The Star Jets (now Astro Orbiter) opened in 1974.

Good point.

Jungle Cruise or Tiki Room then if we are strict on opening day attractions. No reason those shows should be in the condition they are in. Opening Day classics that are less than what they once were.

Or most of Mainstreet USA, since that was just resorted to meet and greet and generic changes.

You think they could just work speedway thru and around other attractions like people mover but why would they ever do something cool like that.

I think it's challenging because...well unless they went electric, the fumes, also sometimes CM's have to intervene with the vehicles.

I don't ever see them upgrading the speedway without just removing it entirely first...all they do is keep shortening the track every decade or so but leaving it open. I also don't think the fumes are safe for CM's to be breathing in daily

I wonder how long until it's just a circle

It's not the worst, but certainly Peter Pan's Flight has seen better decades. It's now been 40 years since "New Fantasyland" opened at Disneyland with the first updated version of the ride, and WDW's attraction has gotten not much since besides the indoor queue.

While there's a novelty to still having one of the original Fantasyland dark rides still around, I think Peter Pan is not as interesting as the subversive Mr Toad (with 2 tracks!) or the original scarier Snow White.
