Worst Attraction Refurb

MGM-

The Magic of Disney Animation to whatever they call it now.
I really loathe the layoffs of the animators, the best thing that came off from the attraction was spending time in that little room with the animator. I was glad on one of my trips I was able to experience it like it was. I thought it was great watching the animator draw Koda from Brother Bear, it just gave off a great sense of Magic from Disney.

ohhhh.......I forgot about that one! It was always my favorite thing to do when I was little. My mom hated taking me to it, but I loved it. (Kinda like she is with my and One Man's Dream) I haven't gone back to the animation tour since they laid of the animation dept and I think it would just be to sad to see everything so empty and desolte. So I would defintely vote for this one with JII coming in a close second. And maybe the Pooh Ride taking place of Mister Toad, but thats not really a refurb.

The refurbs I hate the most.

Replacing Horizons with Space.
Replacing the orginal GM attraction with Test Track.
And the new Journey into Imagination.

Ok I know I must be rare but 20 years ago when I first went to E.P.C.O.T. before it was Epcot it was my favorite park. Everything and I mean every thing Disney done has interuppted the old flow of the Park and dumbed it down.

You want a kids park visit Fantasy Land in the MK what is wrong with having one educational park.

OK bad flow..... Space, GM, Soaring after 10:30 AM you have to wait in peak season what 1 1/2 to 2 hours or get your one fast pass if they are available for 7:00 or 8:00 PM. Now if you decide to wait you are standing and standing move 5 feet then you are standing and standing. Finally after your 2 hour wait you are on a 5 to 10 minute attraction !!! Wait all that time for a short attraction. I was in Epcot when Soaring opened people stood in line for up to 3 hours. Ok people while Soaring is great it is not worth a 3 hour wait. Journey to Imagination is so dumbed down "THE SNUNK GAG !!!"nobody likes it and the line is always short.

Ok Good Flow.... Horizons, the Old GM attractions, the orginal Journey to Imagination. You have maybe an hour wait but it was not hard on your legs the lines always moved because the tracks in the attractions were non interrupted and once you got to the attaction you had a 20 minute attraction to me it felt like the wait earned me something.

Now dumbing down of Epcot to me is a crime. What can you really learn in a show that lasts a few minutes and Journey into Imagination what a joke. The old Horizons, GM attaction and Journey to Imagination all have themes.

Horizons a look of society from the Past to the Future.
GM a the history to the future of transportation.
Journey to Imagination a study of imagination.

Now you have 3 minute thrill rides. I am waiting for them to gut Space Ship Earth and put a lame 3 minute ride in it.

Not just story and thrill....Alien Encounter had some of the best original characters and *the* best collection of one-liners on property when it was there. Even knowing I'd be missing S.I.R. & all the others, I still had high hopes for Stitch, but I'm afraid it just really isn't much fun. :( The only fun I really had on it was decoding the alien language.
Don't blame disney..blame Jeffrey Jones for owning child ( you know...chairman clench). disney is immensly snesitive to those things. i mean do you still see captain EO anywhere. now the Stitch update was poor..the poorest update but it is a nice ride and good to visit. time keeper wasn't all that good..it's gone now

JII, by far. I loved the original ride, but then the second one I HATED. The one now is better than the second but still not as good as the original.

Well, that's disturbing. I had never even heard about that. I just did a search and found out he did more than just own it. (not much more, though, fortunately)

And I wish I thought Stitch was good to visit. =\

Could someone explain what happened after the 1st JII rehab. I'm not exactly sure what was taken out.

The orginal attraction you sat in the same cars you have now.

The ride featured a character called the Dreamfinder... kind of reminds me of the Burger King guy without a crown.

Started the ride the first scene had the cars face a stage, he talked about the "Dreamcatching machine I can not remember the real name" and the Dreamfinder introduced figment. The rest of the ride though I would not go to much into detail is kind of like what they have now but there is no skunk, no show at the end which shows Figment understands imagination and it seems shorter.

The "skunk" worst idea ever it is there only to get a giggle out of any 5 year old on the attraction.

I actually went to Customer services and complained that Disney removed the walking Tour at MGM, they said sorry sir it just was not popular. Sure and yet they keep that ultra lame Drew Carey Sound how. They take away things from MGM and do not replace them. How long for example will the ABC TV show stay empty.

It`s heart and soul.

Start with 40% if the ride track.

Flight to the Imagination

All decent Animatronics

All good effects

All the music

Most of the lighting

Lame lame lame....

I have to agree with the sentiment of JII being the worst "rehab" ever. I miss Figment and Dreamfinder.

I sorely miss Timekeeper - it was one of my favorite attractions.

Disney has made some bad rehab decisions in the past decade, and that's sad.

Yes
Did they get rid of that tour? I mean i know it was a shell (not even a shell ) of its former self

It's not gone actually, but it might as well be. What took (when it first opened) about an hour or so (on the tram), is now like a 15 min tram ride. You see a few left over props, Cat Can, and bam, you're done. They've chopped it up so much, it's not worth the time to get on the thing any more - Unless you just want to see Cat Can.
Any one who knows what it was like in the early days knows what I'm talking about. It really was an attraction back then.

IMHO - the only reason it's still going is for Cat Can (although I'm sure they've gotten thier money's worth out of it). But then - what do you do with all the trams if you totally shut it down - ahhh yes - more Bone Yard artifacts! Taaa-Daaa

That was my most favorite part, too!!!

Two tiny wings,
Eyes bright and yellow.
Horns of a steer,
but a loveable fellow!
From head to tail, he's royal purple pigment.
And there, voila! You have a Figment!

Marni... if they took out all of this good stuff and all of that track, what was put in to fill all of that room left?
The Imageworks from upstairs was `updated` and moved downstairs, and remember the small merchandise area that used to be at the ride exit? That became the fully blown current shop - both this and the Imageworks take up original ride space. The current queue actually enters through the original ride portal, and proceeds straight across the original Flight to the Imagination rotating scene. Current load is about 3/4 of the way around this scene. A real mess.

Here`s one comparisson http://forums.wdwmagic.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=21981&d=1136494195

Here`s a bit of a messy other one (must tidy this up!) http://forums.wdwmagic.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=18979&d=1109122391

Ei Yi Yi! So many choices. My top 5:

1) 20,000 Leagues to Empty Concrete Pit to Ariel's Grotto to Pooh Playground.

2) AI to SGI (aka Dumb & Dumber).

3) UOE to EEA (I got chills watching those Radok blocks for the first time when I was 18 -- it was awe-inspiring). The whole Ellen/Judy exchange is mean-spirited, and what is with that completely useless bit in the dark staring at a radio antenna??

4) Tiki Room -- like EEA it's, mean spirited and a complete insult to the original.

5) WOM to Test Track (not officially a refurb, but Test Track is totally lacking in imagination and Disney "magic", and what exactly makes this attraction suitable for FUTURE world?

Oh -- one more, but not an attraction. The Odyssey Restaurant to a dull brown sad empty space. We ate dinner at the Odyssey in 1993, and I sure do miss it!
