World Showcase needs an AM Draw

We know World Showcase opens later because there is no desire to really be back there prior to lunch time.

Consequently, there are all kinds of comments from people who pass up some of the attractions because they dont want to walk around the World Showcase itself in the afternoon after wandering future world all morning or they dont want to stand and watch a circlevision film.

Now imagine, just for a moment, if World Showcase had an attraction that people wanted to ride first thing in the morning. A major draw or lure that people were excited to see right away.

Not only could we eat breakfast in France - whoo hoo - but I suspect attendance at other World Showcase venues would increase dramatically as people would not be so worn out before reaching the promenade.

Proximity works wonders for attractions, look at the Circle of Life. Nothing is different about it now then before, except that it's now near Soarin, and it is now busy.

Imagine a World Showcase that people want to see before noon.. *sigh*

I agree. That is why WS is so busy in the pm and EVERYthing else is so busy in the am. Maybe they can make more character meals in each country for breakfast or lunch. Like Beauty and the Beast in France or Mulan in China...something more to draw in the crowds to disperse them more evenly.

:) I like Epcot and think the countries are just fascinating but sometime I am pooped by the time I get there and don't spend as much time walking and enjoying the beautiful sights as I'd like.

It would be nice. I would love to be in World Showcase in the early morning again and a new major attraction would certainly fit the bill. It would be good to have something pull the crowds over there in the morning and space everything out better.

Please God no more character meals

Especially in World Showcase. A character attraction like the Fiesta Tour isn't the end of the world, and a character breakfast in Norway isn't bad either, but enough is enough.

The best thing...only thing...would be Japan, since you would want the attraction to be somewhere among the three middle-most countries to draw people around the Promenade. American Adventure already exists smack in the middle but doesn't qualify as a thrill-ride-style mega-E-ticket first-thing-in-the-morning attraction. A mytho-historical Italian attraction would be wonderful...but alas, where is the space? Or synergy? That leaves Japan, which already has an unused show building, although I wonder again about the corporate synergy possibilities, which seem to have to exist (at the very least) these days in order to get an attraction green lit and off the drawing board.

But logistically, Japan is where it's at. ——— As CLOSE to the MIDDLE as POSSIBLE.

Agreed. Personally, I still hope (with no real chance of it happening) for the Matterhorn to be added to the Italy pavilion. The real one is in the Alps on the Swiss/Italian border, so it'd work well.

Merf, while I'd love to see more stuff in WS (I think every pavilion ought to have at least something that can be called an attraction), the reason WS isn't open in the morning is just because of money. I remember going there in the earlier years and we'd always to to WS first thing and then circle back to FW in the afternoon; and in general I don't think the problem is that people don't have an innate desire to go visit the kind of stuff that's in WS in the morning. I think the design of the park just discourages people from getting to WS early in the day, and because of that, WS is never going to have a lot of morning visitors, and because of that, it makes it easy for the current bean-counters to keep it closed.

I might even argue that the desire to save money by opening WS later discourages a new E-ticket in WS.

The reason World Showcase isn't open in the morning is that people in the countries represented do not eat breakfast. Disney is just trying to keep World Showcase culturally authentic.

This is really the cool way to go. I know they probably aren't excited about putting a thrill experience in the showcase, but it could really help to spread out the AM demands on Future World.

Once upon a long time ago, World Showcase WAS open in the morning, of course. That's how the French pastry shop became such a wonderful breakfast stop.

But the nature of the attractions does tend to cause people to focus on Future World first.

But we could go with the ideas that already were there and never developed. German boat ride. Japan COP-style attraction.

Or we could build Switzerland and put in the Matterhorn. Yes, I know Everest is a better version, but Everest is not in Epcot.

What would be cool would be a dinosaur type ride in Italy based on the coliseum. Think about it, lions and gladiators chasing your chariot.:ROFLOL:

That's not actually true. Even in the begining management knew
that it was going to take a long while before any of the first guests of the morning made it two-plus miles all the way to the back of the park. So they conceived a "staggered opening" schedule. World Showcase was to open several hours after the opening of Future World, allowing demand to build for the back half of the park. Everything would close at the same time.

The system worked so well in distributing crowds and saving labor and utilities that Disney eventually introduced staggered openings as well as staggered closings at all of its parks.

Say What? The country I live in (America) eats breakfast, I travel to Canada quite a bit and they eat breakfast there as well. France, Italy and Germany as well as I understand it.
Perhaps the 'open WS late, close FW early' is done to meet some other objective........
