World Of Color Refurbishment

At least this should mean PTN will be back sooner than later. Had WoC returned this holiday season that could have potentially pushed off PTNs return next year.

PtN will return in late spring after the Food and Wine Festival. There is just not going to be any nighttime entertainment in DCA until WoC comes back or until late spring when PtN returns.

Here's an interesting question.

Before WoC opened there was a story (maybe on a site that rhymes with flysplat) that featured an interview with the "Water King" at the Bellagio (which I'm unable to locate--but it was really cool. Trust me). It was a very interesting story with a lot of metrics about managing the fountains at the Bellagio. IIRC, he had a staff of 32 and every night from Midnight to 8 am he had divers in the lagoon doing maintenance. They were regularly swapping out fountain heads for refurbishment.

My question is--was Disney doing this level of maintenance? One of the selling points of WoC over Fantasmic! was the lack of a live cast. But it required an intensive maintenance regimen. Inquiring minds want to know.

My gut tells me they weren't doing this level of maintenance, but that is just a gut feeling.

Good Grief! Why can't DCA move the food booths out of the way when PTN comes through?!??! Maybe they should redesign their events in order to accommodate a parade! 2018 proved a parade is a good backup for WOC! Too bad DCA couldn't figure something out for the holidays!

I agree. There is a lot of room in that park for them to move those food booths around. Hollywood Pictures Backlot, Grizzly Trail. Move the booths around and bring Paint the Night back.

They should have put the booths in the viewing area for WOC. But I have a hunch they enjoyed having an excuse to save the money and not run it.

The food and wine events appear to have become very popular. So you’d want it in an area with the most foot traffic with the most room to handle the crowds. Unfortunately in DCA that is also the same area for the parade path.

They got one mist screen and the flamethrowers to work for the midnight countdown alongside the pyro. No fountains.

Here's video.

I still wonder what truly is holding this show back from returning. Perhaps there are still some inconsistencies with the fountains themselves that need to be hammered out.

anyone know if they did fireworks in hollywoodland like they did for some years?

it aas coold when Disneyland, Paradise Bay and Hollywood land had fireworks at the same time for the countdown. it was when they still used to do the nightly parties

Looking at videos no just air cannons with confetti. Unsure if they were planned but not done due to high winds. Disneyland did not have fireworks last night

May mean nothing but just noticed Disneyland completely removed any mention of Paint The Night on their website. Not listed under currently unavailable entertainment or anything. Every other entertainment offering is listed.

Maybe it might move back to Disneyland?
I think that would be a terrible decision. I don’t think Disneyland can support a night time parade anymore.

During the 60th it was a logistical mess. You literally could not walk around the park. With Galaxy’s Edge opening, and the bigger crowds coming, I don’t think Disneyland can have a Fantasmic, Fireworks, AND a night parade every night. Especially with the traffic going to SWL.
