working out for Disney

I'm not sure which amazes me more...the resilience and aggressiveness of these hornets or the artistry he put into making this video. It also gave me a flashback to my paternal grandparents' house. I'm not sure how it came to be, but they had an abandoned hornet nest like this in one of the bedrooms. It was attached to a branch and just hung from a corner along the wall. My aunt (a lot younger than my dad and still living with my grandparents when I was a young kid) would sometimes joke like hornets were about to come flying out.
That's a bit mean to do to a child. Kids are naive and prone to take a joke seriously.

I hope you guys have a great time and have a safe journey!

Hello-

Today, I did an upper body workout. I am giving this 6 week challenge one more week to see if it picks up, if it doesn't, I will just go back to what I was doing.

I also went for a long walk with my husband. It's toasty and muggy out there! I am just chilling the rest of the day. Dinner is grilled chicken with prepackaged salad kit (sweet chili mango) I bought at Wegman's. I'm feeling lazy.

Seeing the weather has finally improved I'm going raw for the week and will focus on yoga. I'm not saying I won't get my steps in but I'm not going to stress over it. breakfast was a blueberry smoothie and lunch was a pineapple kale ginger smoothie. I may drink my dinner as I'm feeling lazy

I am not a doctor (obviously), but probably a stretch of time off your feet would help treat your PF. Do they have any clerical positions you could do temporarily?

I only noticed my ribcage when I was doing yoga. I looked down when I was in this pose that made me arch my torso forward and one side of my ribcage was more prominent than the other. They weren't both even with each other, if that makes any sense. I wonder if the lump you're feeling is your ribcage?
The lump I feel is on the rib on the left side. Like there's a growth on the rib itself, or something. It's under my breast....you can't see it at all, and apparently no one can feel it if they are in front of me, palpitating that spot. But if you reach around from behind me, and slide your hand along the rib, it's very prominent.

I think its a bit weird they won't let her adopt cats because she is American. People here treat their cats like family, like most people in developed nations do. That's sounds like a really thoughtful house they've made for their cats.

He actually got her to take a treat from his hand yesterday. She seems a little more comfortable around the three of us, probably because we all say hello to her when we see her. :hilarious: My son does want a dog, but I am reluctant. I will likely be the one walking it at 6 AM in January, plus I had a really hard time when our last dog had to be put down. It tore my heart out and it took a while for me to get over it. My husband said "Oh, you're up so early, anyway." Yes. I am up early, enjoying a hot cup of coffee in my cozy house, not bundling up like I am going on an expedition to climb Mount Everest.
It's not that she's American, specifically. It's that she's not Japanese. Apparently people don't trust foreigners? I don't know if you read Bee's trip report when she went to Japan (I can't remember her actual username, just that it involves bees.) but she mentioned how the Japanese are really invested in keeping their country clean and polite, etc. Like, when you go to the train station, people stand in lines rather than just picking a random spot on the platform. There's like an unwritten code that everyone follows. So anyone who isn't Japanese isn't raised doing things in that way, and they can't be sure that person will follow that code. So they will trust a Japanese person over a foreign person most of the time. So if they have multiple applicants to adopt a cat, they are probably going to favor a couple where both people are Japanese over one where one is a foreigner.

Yeah, I get that....and with your son in college, there are also times he wouldn't be available and the dog would still need to be taken care of, so then it falls to you. As much as I love dogs, I just don't think we have room for one here. Our house is small, and while small dogs don't take up much space, it IS a huge commitment. And I like to be able to go places, which you have to make arrangements for the dog when you go anywhere, even for a day. We used to try to take our dog on vacation with us, but it was hard. Not every place allows pets, you can't take them into restaurants or site seeing, so you either have to leave them in the car, which is dangerous, or we used to chain ours up to the tire with a food and water dish right there, but that's also not ideal. He could have gotten hit by another car pulling in or out, someone could have just detached his chain and stolen him, people might have baited him until he got aggressive. We started leaving him with a friend, but we had to make sure they would be available when we wanted to take our vacation, and it was just really hard. And I had the same thing you did when we had to put him down. I was devasted. My mom had him put town without telling me she was going to, so I never got to say goodbye, and it was 2 weeks before she died, so I was grieving the loss of both. And my mom called me at my friend's wedding where I was a bridesmaid to tell me that she had had him put down.....it was incredibly bad timing, and just all around awful. I don't want to go through that again.

Well, the doctor was a complete waste of time today. He says it's "overbelast" which is like...overloaded, or overused....strained I guess? There's nothing to do about it, and since that's my job, I just have to live with it. He says it hurts in several places, so it's probably not a heel spur and an injection won't help, so have a good day and lose some weight. But yeah, since you can't really walk more than you already do, you'll have to find some other way to lose weight. I absolutely HATE bike riding, so swimming seems my only option, but gyms here don't have pools, and the pool here charges 10 bucks per lesson and you can't do water arobics in the lap swim pool. So I don't know WHAT to do for cardio. So frustrating. IF our flight doesn't get canceled, I did book a bunch of hotels with pools, so maybe I can do some water aerobics on vacation, and there are a couple that have gym facilities, so I could lift a few weights and then maybe get a gym membership when I get home. Would an elyptical be less stressful on the foot than walking?

That's horrible and lazy on his part! Can you find another doctor because this one sounds as if he has no respect for you

I knew there were very circumscribed ways of behaving in Japan, but I didn't realize that extended into adopting cats, especially when one is married to a Japanese citizen and has made Japan their home.

That's awful about your mom putting your dog down without telling you. I am sorry. My mom did that to me, too. It was the dog we grew up with. I was in college and she waited until I was done with exams to tell me. (I finished college after I got married and had my son.) I lived less than an hour away and I would have liked to have said good bye.

Yeah, that's the thing about having a dog--it's the little things you don't think about. You think about vet visits, food, walking, but it's the little things that get ya. We used to have two dogs and we'd have to pay for two dogs to be put in a kennel. One dog was a mini poodle and they need to be groomed regularly and they charge a lot for poodles.

I know your hip bothers you, but can you do things like squats? You can buy long resistance bands and use them for strength training. They are *much* cheaper than weights, they are easier to store and you can use them anywhere. At home, on a work break, on holiday, etc.

Hello-

Today was a lower body workout, then I went for a walk before the rain came in. I made Chinese black pepper tofu for dinner. It was really good and I'm happy that there are leftovers for dinner tomorrow. 😋

Kind of a nothing week here. I have requested a deferral. The next available date is Dec. 5, so I am hoping it's approved. I wrote the judge a little note saying I wasn't looking to get out, just to postpone. I accidentally requested an exemption last week. So fingers crossed.

Good morning! The dishwasher has been fixed, morning practice done, half my steps are in and I'm sipping on sun steeped dandelion tea:joyfull: Blueberry smoothie for breakfast and large chopped veggie salads for lunch and dinner. Yea, solid food again:joyfull: That said I may swap out or add in another smoothie

I'm sorry to hear that. Is there a place where you can at least get your name on a waiting list? Do you have something like Urgent care? This is a totally unacceptable situation!
We do have urgent care, but this wouldn't qualify as urgent. They'd just tell me to call my doctor. I've never really liked our doctor. He was one of the only ones accepting new patients when we moved here, and his office was within walking distance to our house, which was important because I didn't have a drivers license or anything. Now his office has moved, but it's only a 10 minute bike ride, so it's ok. But he's never been my favorite. I think I'll wait until I have my next diabetis check and take it up with the specialist...she always asked if I have any issues with my feet, so she'll take it seriously and send me to a podiatrist, I'm sure. We have our vacation in 2 weeks, if our flight doesn't get canceled. We'll be in a car driving around and not walking as much, and I won't be wearing work shoes. I'm hoping the month rest might help.

Good luck with your flights!!!!!!!!!!! Can you get your check moved up to as soon as you get back?

Yeah, I would never have expected that either, but I guess they are really suspicious of foreigners there. They talked about it in one of their videos how they had tried to adopt via the normal channels and it just didn't work. So they started rescuing streetcats.

Wow, I'm sorry your mom did that to you, but I'm glad she at least didn't tell you BEFORE your exams. That's one thing I was really upset with my mom for. Why did she call me at my friend's wedding?? She knew where we were and why we were there...she called the hotel to tell me. It couldn't have waited until after the weekend? And then mom died about 2 or 3 weeks later. I get why she had to put him down, and I even get that she couldn't really wait...she was in such poor health herself and she couldn't take care of him, and he was already like 17 and couldn't make it outside to pee, couldn't get down the stairs himself, etc. A friend was taking care of him for the most part anyway, so I get that it was time. But to tell me while I was at the wedding where I then had to put on a happy face and be a bridesmaid...that was a really rotten thing to do. She HAD to have known that wasn't a good time to tell me. I was on the other side of the state, and in any case, she had already put him to sleep so it would have been too late for me to make a trip home to say goodbye. But then the news could have waited. My mom and I had a pretty strained relationship since I graduated from high school because she tried to control me and I wouldn't let her and she was really angry with me for my "disobediance". She asked me why I waited until I was 19 to rebel. I told her that after 18, I was a legal adult. It wasn't rebellion, it was independence. Anyway, I think she was still punishing me for all the things she didn't give me permission to do. It was a surefire way to upset me and I think she felt some satisfaction at being able to hurt me. I know you've had similar issues with your mom, and I'm so sorry. I guess we just have to learn from it and be better moms ourselves.
