working out for Disney

I'm not a sushi fan. I'd have to live on sweets if it was a choice between sushi and sweets. Or I'd just starve.
Let me try to change your mind.
Sushi - Japanese word
Su means vinegar
Shi means rice
Anything I make with vinegar rice is far game. Its anti bacterial and the filling doesn't have to be raw. The only reason it's good with raw fish is that when introduced with vinegar it allows for consumption of raw fish.

Otherwise you can eat it with any type of food. That's why people put veg rolls on menus.. and more.

Today's workout was very similar to yesterday's, except that I added in a few other little things.

1. I put in a 10 min (+1 cool) walk on the treadmill. This normally isn't a big deal, but my calf muscles were painfully stiff and sore today. It's similar to what I've experienced running. I think it's just a symptom of being more sedentary right now, so I may need more of this just to keep some muscular normalcy.
2. I did three sets on the squat machine today. It's definitely not my favorite thing, but it can't hurt.
3. I did an intense speed round while on the bike. I usually stay in the 17-19 MPH range, but I was at the tail end of my first session before logging back in to work. So, I bumped it up to a few min in the 25-28 MPH range. I can't maintain that, but it felt good to sprint.

I'm having the hardest time sleeping through the night. Some is all of the stress, but some is the animals. Sure, I love that we're getting more nature from slowing down and staying in, but trying to identify the owls hooting outside of your window from 3-5am just be swapped out with a woodpecker pecking away as the sun comes up is kind of maddening. One was very clearly a Great Horned Owl. I hear them now and then when I'm out at night with the dogs, but it's usually down the street. The other, and far more disruptive, was a Barred Owl. I've never heard one near the house, but I had one nearly clip my vehicle last summer while I was driving in a heavily forested area. My dad was in the vehicle with me, so we both got a decent look at it even though it happened quickly. For the woodpeckers, we normally see Downy and Hairy varieties around the house, but with things slowing down, the Pileated have also been around a lot more. All in all, I could use some sleep. I may have to incorporate owls sounds into the noise app I use at night, although, they usually only cover the more commonly known hooting sound from the Great Horned.

Tomorrow, I have to venture out to pick up stuff for Passover and Easter. We're possibly going to try a mini seder with my parents tomorrow. We were invited to a larger Zoom seder on Thursday, but my younger one has a class Zoom and I really want to keep her engaged with her teachers and friends. Beyond that, it's Easter egg decorating and thinking about what to do with our turkey for Easter.

Good morning! Yesterday was semi-fitnessy.

I decided to bump up my weights for arms yesterday. Still did the same old stuff, but with 12 lb ones vs. 8s. I also changed up the bulk of my lower body workout with traditional squats and plies. I wanted to do more, but I was logging out of work early to get stuff done. I've been trying to grocery shop middle of the week at random times of the afternoon to avoid the crowds since I'm still waiting on masks I ordered. The makeshift ones I've put together with stuff around the house don't sit in place very well or aren't comfy...which means I wind up touching my face and compromise their effectiveness. I guess at least walking around the store gave me some extra steps. I avg around 1.2 miles of walking when I grocery shop. I also had to go yesterday because we were going to try and do a first night of Passover seder. We never go big, and with all of our dietary issues, it's impossible to go traditional. This pot may look like matzo ball soup, but it didn't taste like it. At least the brisket was good.

Since I'm spending an extra 2 days a week in my office and it's sort of my zone of the house if I need time away from everyone else, I've been working on adding some more decorative touches. I'm still waiting on another cork board for the back to put up a combo of special pins and stuff, but over the last week, I've added all of this.

I like decals, but I'm not in to the stick figure family. So, I made a little stick portrait of DH and the girls.

I'm not too in to ears, but they make good wall hangings. Everything says they're level, but because they are built differently, they only look level from certain angles and are kind of making me nuts.

I added a nearly 10 yr old pic of the girls with Cindy from their very first visit to CRT. After cutting away the excess, it fit well into the square frame. The overcrowded pin board has been up there for a while. Some of them may serve as push pins for my new cork board project.

I have more MBs in a case downstairs, but I put these around my floor lamp in the back. I used to have the old ones on my car mirror...in case work ever got to me so badly that I just hopped in the car and drove to Disney. LOL

Oh, and since I didn't drop a few thousand extra for a tow package on the new vehicle (to have a place to put my $50 hitch plug LOL), I've added it to my window.

I went out to look at the super moon the other night. We didn't have as much pink as other people, but I also didn't get out there super early.

I've been trying to keep up with the Yellowstone webcams too, since I find the virtual travel kind of therapeutic. The majority of the cams are static and you just get what you get. My cousin tipped me off to keep watching those though since things have been showing up...like bison in Mammoth yesterday and pronghorn up near the north entrance. Still, the live one at Old Faithful has been pretty awesome. The other night, the ranger zoomed in on a herd of bison around the Upper Geyser Basin who have been in there for warmth.

Other than that, getting ready for Easter stuff. We'll probably be dying eggs tomorrow and I managed to sneak in goodies for the kids and hide them under the bar. It's nothing too extravagant, but they still enjoy an egg hunt and getting chocolate bunnies and Peeps.

Thank you for letting me ramble :D Be safe, everyone!!!

Happy Easter! 🐰🌸Just a quick drive-by.

I'm still keeping active with yoga, walking and other stuff thrown in for variety.

I've been prepping for dinner since yesterday. I made lemon glazed pound cake, since eggs are still limited here. I also started my poolish last night for baguettes today. I put together a breakfast casserole last night and stuck in the fridge to bake today. I've got bread dough proofing and more things to cook. I think it's silly, because we are only three. Next year, I am getting Seasons 52 or something. This is too much food (and work) for three people.

We rented Knives Out last night. It was really enjoyable. I don't think this did well at the box office, though, did it? I don't know why, it's a fun murder mystery.

Anyway, just saying a quick "hi" and I'll return when things are more settled here. :)

Good morning. ⛈

It's rainy today with threats of severe storms, flooding, tornados and high winds, so I probably won't get out for a walk. I got out yesterday before dinner and it was gorgeous--sunny, low 70s.

I did an hour work out of something called "Tonique." I don't know how to describe it other than it being a lot of squats, lunges, push ups and kicking up into hand stands. It's a bit repetitive, but it gets my heart rate up without a lot of impact.

I ate a lot of over the weekend, so now I am on the straight and narrow. I have an Instacart delivery tomorrow and I had planned on baking some cookies, but after this weekend, I am removing the Tollhouse dark chocolate chips and the Reese's peanut butter chips. Nothing good could come from having cookies lying around the house like that. :p
