working out for Disney

I have joined, specifically working out for health for family, but nerd wise working out to fit on coasters and attractions better. Aiming to fit on Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa the time when that attraction finally opens as Rocky Mountain Construction Coasters are a tight squeeze.
Welcome! I've never been to Busch Gardens, but is that a roller coaster?

Thanks! I appreciate that.
It is a Rollercoaster. It is using some of the same structure but a new ride sharing the former name Gwazi.(which was a dueling coaster but won't be anymore)
It is a new Hybrid Wooden/steel rollercoaster in the works, it was close to soft opening before the closures, but it is going to be pretty neat as the company who built it built has also built Silver Dollar City's Outlaw Run and quite a few others in recent years, their main engineer used to work for Arrow Dynamics, one of the big theme park companies that of course had a past with Disney and many other parks.
Busch Gardens is a fun time and even though it has had its struggles and is majority a thrill park, you can really relax and enjoy the animal exhibits, sky ride, train and shows for a low price. Their animal care center and other exhibits are very well done and in my opinion, their quick service food is often the best of any theme park.

This was the second day of my routine workout. I do a ten minutes deep stretch, then I blast music and do Cardio running/areobics for 30 minutes. Then I follow with some cool down for five and I do 30 curls each arm(increasing reps later this week) and I do core planks and sit ups, although I am so weak I am going to possibly need to alternate how heavy I go on core to give the muscles time to heal.

I ate a lot of over the weekend, so now I am on the straight and narrow. I have an Instacart delivery tomorrow and I had planned on baking some cookies, but after this weekend, I am removing the Tollhouse dark chocolate chips and the Reese's peanut butter chips. Nothing good could come from having cookies lying around the house like that.

It is SO difficult not to eat a ton of food, while we're spending so much time at home these days!! I've put on a few pounds. I do go out and take long walks about 5 days a week, but the problem is that food just beckons me -- any time, every day! 🤦‍♀️

Not to mention shortages of certain things making it more difficult to plan menus. You buy things when you can get them, but when you want to make a specific dish, you can't find all the ingredients. Sometimes you can't eat as heathy as you would like.

I've been feeling hungrier than usual lately. I guess it is stress eating. My husband and I make a point of gong for long walks at 4 PM when the weather permits. Even that has become stressful for me, because I am constantly trying to avoid getting within 6 ft of other walkers. I like to walk to turn things over in my head and let them go, but I can't do that when I am trying to dodge people the whole time! :hilarious:

Yes. The craziest things are out of stock. Tofu. Cabbage. Green onions. I'm kind of angry about the flour situation. I bake no knead bread on a weekly basis for my family and now people who couldn't be bothered to even look at a bag of flour are baking bread because they're bored or they need validation on social media. #cranky

Good morning. ☀

I did some cardio today. I wasn't in the mood for yoga and I felt like I needed to burn off some quarantine-induced agita.

Anyway, if anyone is looking for some cardio that doesn't require equipment; here ya go.

The first part flies by, the second part, not so much. But I am done for the day and I am happy for that.

Take care, everyone. :)

Hi all! I have to admit, this being at home is really getting to me. My eating hasn't been good and my desire to be physically active has dipped significantly. I was good until Easter, when I didn't do a darn thing and eating spiked. Walking and running around the neighborhood just isn't cutting it. Sure, my lower legs have been protesting, which doesn't help. I'm hoping to find motivation at some point this week, but I may have to ease back in with projects vs. workouts. It might help if I knew more about our summer vacation and whether or not it's a go. I know we're in the same boat as everyone else and just don't know, but that's the kind of stuff that keeps me going. Yes, I know this is a health crisis which goes beyond vacation, but there are a lot of things that play into the mental health game with this and this is part of that puzzle for me.

We did get a little treat during our family walk on Friday. I think I'd mentioned hearing owls in the middle of the night. They're hard to see since I was just taking pics with my phone, but we found a couple of barred owls in the trees...an adult and a juvenile. These are the ones that have been really disruptive in the middle of the night.

We did cook up one of the turkeys for Easter. I think this was the biggest in the freezer, but the meat yield was about the same as an 18lb bird.

49766864331_fc34e83d7e_z.jpg

I also finally got around to putting up holiday lights. Since I waited until after Easter and you can argue that Memorial Day and Independence Day are coming up, I decided to go patriotic.

The glow it puts off is more bluish-purple, so I figured it's also good to show support of healthcare workers.

I also started dressing up the new vehicle with decals. Two of them are Disney related...I'm just afraid that if I sit here for too long, I may cover my entire vehicle in stuff. I'm already looking at a Mickey softball one, a Donald one, and a runDisney one.

I just don't what is going to happen if I keep doing little projects. I already did this with another leftover pic frame with Disney stickers.

So, that's it, but I do have another project on the horizon that's not tied into my office, car or even me eating. My husband's bday is this week. Rather than doing a traditional cake, we've decided to do a home version of the show Nailed It. I'm going to make up a cake sketch and a recipe sheet and have the kids compete against each other to make the cake. Since we can't go out to celebrate, I've suggested that after the kids go to bed, we do a bar crawl through our house with drinks themed to each room. This should be interesting!

Hope you're all doing well!

We have lots of cabbage and green onions but I can't find much in the way of tofu:rolleyes: Today is core and stretch, it's still too yucky to walk outside:(

I got off my butt and moved around yesterday. I walked about 2.5 miles on the treadmill and biked for nearly 4 miles. I did one round of arms before deciding I was over it, but I have done 3 rounds of arms today and did a little 5 min jog around the driveway this morning before logging in to work. Hopefully, I'll be motivated to do more a bit later on.

I also did a little thing this morning to help motivate me...

My friend that came with me to WDW in January registered as well. We're discussing doing the first one together (distanced, if still needed) and we may even do some costumes. I told my husband that I'd like him and the kids waiting for me at the "finish line" so they (as race volunteers) can give me my medal and hopefully a snack. If we're able to go to WDW in July (plans are currently a mess), I may do the second one as a costumed run around the BW resorts area. Not sure what to do to make the third one special, but DLs HM has a bday on August 9th, so that might be a good time for the third.

Beyond that, I got the rest of my stuff to add another Disney piece to the office.

The walls are now pretty filled up in here, but I still have space for more medals, I can always add more ears if I want a traditional ear wall, and there's still some room if I were to ever print out any of the Disney art I've made with my photos and/or splurged on an animation cel. I had an extra copy of Tie Dye Leota that went on that board above, but I have so many others that I love that would be fun to have on the walls.

I love all of your projects. The IASW "love" magnet. That's adorable.

The lights look gorgeous--it's never to early to celebrate the 4th. I have a confession. I have those gel cling decorations for various holidays. I put up a "USA" set on my kitchen window and a red, white and blue "love" with fireworks on my patio sliding door. I never took them down from last 4th of July! I felt it was cheerful, so I kept them up. Plus, nobody can see them, but us.

The birthday drink around the house idea sounds so fun! Did you do it yet? I hope you'll post cake photos.

I looked up virtual runDisney and all the races are sold out. :grumpy: I figured I could walk a race. I'm not fussed about my time. Ah, well, maybe next year. I love the ticket book medal, it's really cute.

That cork board is really fun. That's a nice touch for the office.

Happy Friday! 🥳

Today was a Tonique workout and a walk that was cut short by the rain.

One of my friends passed away this week from ALS. She was diagnosed just over a year ago. She couldn't breathe, so they put her on a vent. Then they took her off because they determined her lung function was 25% without it. So, they sedated her, sent her to hospice and kept her comfortable. What is heartbreaking is nobody could go into the hospice, for fear of someone bringing in Covid 19. I used to work in hospice, so I know she didn't pass alone, but I feel awful for her husband and children who couldn't be there while she passed.

Also, my BIL and his family in the UK all had Covid 19. They are all on the other side of it. My BIL said it "sucked" and all of them had different symptoms.

I'm so sorry about your friend. That's so sad! How old are her children? Will they be able to have a funeral? I've heard that people aren't being allowed into cemeteries and that they are taking bodies directly to be buried without a service or anything, for fear of spreading covid, but I don't know if that's just for covid 19 patients or anyone. I hope they will be able to say goodbye.

I'm wondering if we've had it. I still have to go to work like normal, AND I still have to do the grocery shopping and such. So I leave the house pretty regularly, and there was one week that I couldn't go in to work because my daughter was coughing and had a slight fever. If anyone in your house has any cold or flu-like symptoms, everyone in the house has to quarantine. But as I'm the only one leaving the house, my daughter couldn't really have caught anything from anyone but me. And then I read yesterday that 60% of the positive tests on that ship were asymptomatic. So I'm wondering if we got it, but my daughter was the only one with symptoms? Which I would feel so bad if I had it and I was spreading it around at work! For the last several weeks, all I've done is train new people, which means I can not stand 6 feet away. I have to be standing right next to them so I can teach them how to use the scanner and what all the numbers mean.

Thanks. Her children are adults. I am friends with her daughter and became friends with her mom over time. My friend lived in AZ and her daughter lives in MN and won't get on a plane in the best of circumstances. As soon as she found out her mom was going into hospice, she got in her car and went, but she didn't make it to AZ in time. I don't think there will be a funeral. Losing a parent is awful, but this virus has made things 1000x worse. You can't even say good bye or have a service for your loved one.

Has anyone you've been training gotten ill? Is it possible you daughter had been incubating something she caught from a classmate? This is such a nasty virus. There was an article in The Washington Post that featured people who survived this, but have kidney failure and liver damage. I read a couple of weeks ago, a very small subset of people have cognitive impairment and dementia-like symptoms after recovering. I feel like this is not being addressed when politicians talk about easing up the quarantines and it concerns me.

Good morning. ☀

I need to color my hair. LOL. I have so much grey growing out. I've been hesitant to color it myself, because I get a whole head of highlights and then she colors the unhighlighted hair a medium brown to provide contrast. I know if I use box dye, I will be "erasing" those highlights and I will have to "start from scratch" when I can go back to the salon. That is $$$. If I do it, I am going to get something like L'Oreal Color and Co or Madison Reed. At the same time, I don't care, because it's not like I ever go anywhere. I am tempted to do some fun colors, since I am not interviewing for any FA positions.

Anyway, I did a hiit video from YouTube. If anyone is looking for something to do today here is an idea. There is no cool down or stretching afterwards, but there are videos on YT you can find.

I am hoping to get out for a walk. It's rainy and damp.

Take care. 🌺

I'm so sorry about your friend as well as her family. I understand why they couldn't allow family in, as I'm sure they do as well, but it doesn't make it any easier.

A few thoughts on hair...

First thing coming to mind is if your hairdresser can put together a home kit with instructions for you. I've seen a lot of friends getting these from their local colorists and stylists. Obviously, it still puts this in your hands, but it'll be the products and steps your stylist would normally use. Some are even doing Zoom sessions and paying the stylist (on top of the supplies) to walk them through the process.

Second thought is that the home kit results will probably still look highlighted after it's done. That's not to say it won't mean starting from scratch when you go back to your stylist, but a home kit shouldn't erase your highlights. It may not be the colors your stylist would normally do, but lighter sections will dye lighter/brighter than the darker sections. My concern would be the roots. Roots are sort of a blank canvas that take color more readily than other other hair on your head, so your roots might be the one area where it looks kind of crazy. There are kits out there to do home highlights, some like the L'oreal one below which covers both base color and highlights. Still, this may be more than you want to do.

I've had my blue highlights for a couple of weeks now. You really only see it up around my scalp...

49785206823_4cac16a714.jpg

So, I bought a kit to remove hair color to add bolder blue highlights in the lengths of my hair coming off the base of my neck. I may or may not do it this weekend. I don't do any kind of pro color, so I'd just use another home kit to go back to normal (assuming I don't royally destroy my hair), but you may want to check with your stylist before doing anything too bold as that might be harder to correct.

I was inspired by all of the people putting up Christmas lights, but I just could't convince myself to go that route. So, patriotic seemed like the best option. If we are still shut down by July (Gosh, I really hope we're not), I will probably throw in a Christmas in July theme. I'll keep the patriotic lights, but add in a couple of the Christmas inflatables...like Santa and the big tree.

We're doing the house pub crawl tonight. I tried to pick things that covered a lot of what we already have, but I treated my husband to a new bottle of single malt scotch for the dining room stop. I don't drink scotch, so I got a small bottle of wine for me. Not that I'm a wine drinker either, but I'll take sparkling rose over scotch any day.

The cakes should be interesting. The kids baked yesterday. The older one's turned out OK, but the younger one decided not to use her lifelines during the second half of the process and she wound up only putting in 1/3 of the flour called for in the recipe. This is what we've got so far...

49786173673_c62c1280a0.jpg

49786714296_9311708e10.jpg

Can you tell which one failed the baking stage? LOL It's all good. The older one failed the mixer speed/splatter shield portion, which is funny since she was afraid her cakes wouldn't bake up without all of this flour that she's now wearing.

49786309676_4581387644.jpg

I've also learned that we need to do some egg lessons. These kids are so clueless with cracking eggs. OK...maybe some logic lessons as well! The older one had a panic attack because she didn't know if she should do all of her mixing in the cake pans.
