Oh I'm so glad it wrapped up, and that you all agreed! That's so nice! It must have been a pretty quick deliberation! And are you free to talk about it now if you need to relieve that stress? Like...can you tell your husband about it, or a friend, etc? Or is it still confidential?

The suit was filed in 2013 and we deliberated for about 45 minutes. We all had the same issues with how one party was presenting their case. We did feel kind of bad that all of this work went into this trial, but we discussed our concerns. One lawyer depended on theatrics and trash talking towards the end. I think he could tell the tide had turned, because when we went back to deliver our decision he was gone. His clients were there all alone receiving bad news.

And no, I still can't talk about it. That's why I am speaking in general terms. lol

Hello-

I am in with a lower body kettle bell workout. I'm enjoying not being in court/Camden. I don't miss being pan handled, walking past a methadone clinic to get lunch and seeing someone smoking something that smelled like burnt plastic. I saw a drug deal go down out in the open. Yesterday, a few of us were sitting outside for lunch and out of nowhere, a bunch of cops went running in one direction. One of the jurors saw what happened and said a man just started landing blows on a woman. He said within seconds police were there. We told the jury attendant what happened when we returned from lunch. She said it happens from time to time in the courthouse, even. The family court is there, too, and people who have to pay child support, lose custody get violent. It is just a disheartening place.

Yikes....that sounds like a shady lawyer, too! But I'm sorry you can't vent. I'm sure you've got a lot of feelings about it and it would be nice if you could express them to someone. That must be hard to have to hold it in. I hope you never have to go through it again.

Glad it's over for you. You were so lucky to have a cohesive jury pool. More often than not, it's not that way. Hated being a juror once--never want to go through that again (and it was a short trial).
I had Jury duty 4 times over a 6 year period. One of the tribulations of being in a small rural community which encompasses most of Vermont. Of the 4 times I was called I actually had to sit through 3 actual trials. Then I moved to NC where the area I live in is about 2.5 million strong. I had been here 4 months and got called for Jury Duty. I got picked for the trial, which was a slip and fall type complaint. When the lawyers questioned the chosen jurors, they asked me if I had any opinion on a slip and fall type, I said no, I didn't think so, but, I was only 3 years past my own slip and fall situation and I was (and still am) trying to recover from the injuries. They dismissed me and once you have been rejected, you are done. Supposedly forever. I doubt it... but I guess it's possible.

Hello-

I did a 30 minute kettle bell workout this morning. I'm kind of dreading the early sunset today. I've been using my lamp at 5AM since the beginning of October, so I am hoping the extra "sunlight" helps this time of year.

I am making chicken fajitas, refried beans, rice and serving it with some avocado that really needs to be used today. :hungry:

You're lucky, the population of my county is ~500K. I won't get called again for three years, but I was talking to man who had been summoned 4 times and he is 27! I was surprised I was chosen, as I thought I had a conflict of interest. But both lawyers decided to keep me on. I could have done without it, as I don't drive. I don't live near a bus stop or a train station. I told the judge during the voir dire it was costing me $60/day to get back and forth. He didn't care. I was able to get rides home from other jurors here and there, but I am stuck paying $300 from taking Lyft most days. I'll never get that money back and I am getting paid $95 for two weeks of jury duty. I refuse to serve again.

Headed to Pensacola tomorrow for the annual Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show on Friday and Saturday. Supposed to rain all day tomorrow, and we hate driving in the rain, so the plan is to leave really early and maybe beat the rain. Would rather be in Pensacola in the rain than driving there in the rain.

Had a good trip. It does seem like the trip down to Pensacola and back is longer and more tiring than it used to be. It is only a 6.5 hour drive, but I guess in getting older it just seems longer.
Drove in heavy rain from Montgomery to Pensacola and that makes the drive more stressful too, but still we had a good trip. It was cool and blustery Friday morning as we walked along the beach.
