Hello-

Today was 36 sun salutations. It is a 108 day program, so most of DVDs change every 36 days. After the next 36 days, I'll do 72 sun sals and finally 108 on the last day of the program--if I make it that far. :p

I am going to go for a walk when it warms up and the sun comes out (hopefully soon). It's a little chilly here today. :coldfeet:

It started chilly here in the mid 50s but has warmed up with the sun to 79 now. Feels good! Breezy and low humidity.

Hello-

I did a new DVD in the program that was focused on balance and I have none. I kept falling and my ankles kept wobbling in attempts not to fall. I guess I need this practice, then. I hope I get better at this, because it's pathetic. LOL

Yesterday, I got some texts from a WDW Magic friend (Alissa Falco) to tell me she was in Philly and wanted to swing by my house. So she did and we hung out for a bit and got some dinner at Seasons 52. It was a nice surprise. I had a delicious halibut dinner with a peanut vinaigrette cole slaw and black rice. :inlove:

Well today was the day I went to another dtr since mine jumped ship this past April and went somewhere else, I guess. I wanted to get a woman dtr so I switched practices. Today was the first meeting. Well, wouldn't you know, my bp was still up. The meds I have taken for 6 moths now aren't doing a thing. I have watched what I am eating and exercising. We only go out to eat once a week. Ugh!! I am so over this. It is just depressing. I guess I will have to just stop eating everything. I have to go to a pharmacy and take my bp 2-3x a week for the next 2 weeks. Because you know, I freak out taking it at home. Then, I have to drop those readings by the office. Hopefully, by then she will have my files from the old dtr. This is just the third med I have been on, and it takes awhile to get used to another one. So, I am really not looking forward to starting over. Feeling sorry for myself. :( Sorry--had to let it out.

{{HUGS}} I wish you could borrow my arm for bp tests. Hoping it's just more white coat syndrome but these may help.

I am sorry, that sounds like a really frustrating process for you to have to undergo again. Sometimes a set of fresh eyes is good, maybe she sees something a little differently than your previous doctor and you can make up a new treatment plan together.

I know it is not a cure-all, but I have started doing mindful mediation on a daily basis. I am not saying this is going to get rid of your blood pressure, but it could be a small component of getting it down again. The meditation I do is not "woo." It is just focusing on your breath and on the present. Some of the ones I do have a focus like, "self compassion" or "gratitude." But there is no chanting or anything like that. You're not worrying about the future or the past. You just focus on your breathing and when your mind starts wandering, you corral it in again.

Fine to let it out, but just don't give up. Maybe your new dr. might have some other options for you.

Just out of curiosity...have they checked your thyroid? I'm asking because I have hypothyroidism, and my blood pressure was running higher than it should have been for my age. I used to run really low, and like you, I eat really well. So both my doctor and I were confused as to why my BP was high.

Well, it occurred to me that having two parents with hypothyroidism meant I should get it checked as well. Sure enough, it was low. I went on medication, and my BP went right back to where it should be. I didn't really have any other symptoms; I just thought, "Hey, I should check this" and that's what it was. Now we know if my blood pressure starts going up, we need to check my thyroid.

It's a simple blood test, and it might not be it, but if your meds aren't working and there's no lifestyle changes you haven't already made...might be worth getting it checked. Or it could be something else underlying.

Of course, you'll want to look at the other symptoms, and if you have any of them, let your doc know so they'll know to perform the test. Some are stubborn. For me, family history was enough, but you never know.

Frustrating! Is it maybe a whitecoat syndrome thing? You're nervous about a new doctor and about what your BP is going to be, which makes it elevate?

Thank you. You know it’s funny you mentioned the breathing. I did that this morning and while I took my bp. I thought anything to take my mind off it while taking it should help, right?? I had 150/70 at the dtr’s office and this mornings no at home 126/79! Now you tell me-is it white coat syndrome or what. I physically can tell how nervous I get going to a dtr.

Thanks! I have thought of thyroid issues but no family history there. I am going to take it at home for two weeks and see if it fluctuates here. Then we can see what my dtr suggests.

My mom's side of the family has no history of thyroid issues. Her doctor at the time just decided to check it since he was also checking her cholesterol (just decided to check everything) and found it. So no family history necessary

My dad's family is a different story...
