working out for Disney

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Up early, just could not sleep. Trying to not wake the other three. I blowed leaves yesterday and that big backpack blower just causes me all kinds of problems and lower back pain.
I could have someone else do it, but dang it, it is my yard and I am just not ready to give up yard work just because of a couple of back surgeries. I suppose I understand a little about how seniors feel when it becomes time to think about giving up driving. Of course, giving up driving is also giving up a sense of independence, and wanting to not give up yard work is more akin to stubbornness.
Early morning, way before the sunrise rant over.

How is your back feeling today?

Hello-

I was busy this weekend. On Friday, my husband and I put up out tree and decorations. It took a lot longer because we hadn't unpacked a lot of boxes that the movers marked "basement," which is where we stored our holiday decs. SO, we opened a lot of boxes to get tot he tree and decorations. LOL Then yesterday, we cleared out the "garage" that the previous owners used as a studio for their photography business. It has carpeting and a Pergo floor, so it's a little more joint friendly than I am working out right now (carpet over concrete). It has heating/AC and is also wired for sound. This is going to be a gym. We have a spare TV, a DVD player and an Apple TV, so I can stream my workouts. My husband cleaned the carpet this morning and I might be able to use it later on. :geek:

Anyway, yesterday I did a 30 minute cardio hiit workout and today i am doing a bar bell workout (Body Pump). :)

Good morning,I started another Jessica Smith series something shape up for summer(which better get here soon). Day one was short, sweaty and I used heavier weights but was left feeling like I needed a bit more so I followed it up with another short total body:joyfull: I don't know what it is with cold weather but I seem to crave spicy food so I'm either going to make a curry soup or one inspired by General Tao for dinner:joyfull: I hope getting back to reality isn't too rough for everybody today

Well Happy Monday everyone!! We made it through another holiday!! We both did some good eating and lots of walking while shopping. And had a wonderful visit with our DD, SIL, and grand-doggie. Time to get back to normal again. Going to do my walking inside after I get off here. Plus, some weights. It is so cool and damp outside, which is a good indication that rain is on it's way. We have some great chances this week!! Yay maybe it will help with the forest fires. Our fire fighters are really doing a great job of containing it. Rain will certainly help with the smoke too.
Happy Cyber Monday too! Hope you find lots of deals. My DD already did, and I found a few deals online too. :)

Hi all!
@epcotisbest , please be careful. That doesn't sound like something you want to mess around with!! Anything back related seems so scary to me. I hope it's better soon! If you take pain meds, please don't do anything strenuous...if you can't feel the pain, you can't tell if you are overdoing it. (I had that with my hip when the doctor thought it was a torn muscle and he gave me really strong pain meds...I couldn't feel it at all, so I thought I was all better...then the meds wore off and I couldn't walk at all.)

So I rode my bike to the Centrum today to get things for DS's birthday party this weekend. I got halfway there and my hip was hurting so I was trying to use my left leg more to pedal, to ease the pressure on my right hip....but then my left knee started hurting worse than the right hip and I had to get off and walk instead. Took me AGES to get everything done and get home because I could only ride about a minute at a time for every 5 minutes I walked. So...I guess next time, I'm taking the bus. No idea what I did to my knee...I swear I am falling apart!! At least walking goes pretty well now! That's the only exercise left available to me!

Hello-

Today was a dance workout. I did a different one and I liked this one a lot better. I think I will stick to this one and learn it, so I can get into it. :) I might do a yoga workout tomorrow, I am not sure. My knees are getting a bit cranky. LOL

I did bite on the Cyber Monday sales. I only bit on one though. There is a brand of cosmetics I like and they only have 50% discounts once a year and that is today. They have sales from time to time, but this is the deepest discount they offer. I got some things I was running low on or just wanted to try. Other than that, I did all of my shopping online over the weekend.

Thank you for asking. I'm OK, just have to live with the pain for a day or two following leaf blowing. Some chemicals and a heat pad help. My next option is spinal fusion, and I just don't think I am going to do that, as long as I can live with it like it is.

Is an electric leaf blower an option for you, or is your yard too big for all the cord you would need?

Since you're dealing with a few ailments (hip and knee), have you considered swimming for exercise? It's one of the safest things to do, as the water cushions all your joints. In time, you may be able to get back to bicycling, but for now, swimming might help you heal and also not cause you any discomfort.
