Can I pop in after 147 pages and ask a question?

Anyone have a treadmill or elliptical and if so, how do you like it?

(Stair climber comments welcome and Brovo to you if you can do that, but I can't. :))
Pop or move in anytime!!!!!!!!!!! We welcome one and all. I have a treadmill and used it quite a bit for a while, but now I really prefer doing a Leslie Sansone DVD when I feel like walking, plus it takes up too much room and now only comes out once in a while.

Good morning, we got about a foot of light fluffy C#@p. It's now up to 0 from 2 below. My ds Michael got Jim shoveled out (yea, guess I'm going to make him some rice pudding later, his fav, soy milk and stevia instead of sugar) Jim made it to work safely. I did an am practice as it's going to be my easy day I'm only going to do an easy afternoon practice and I'll also meditate. I'm staying in as the roads are bad and it's not safe to be out. I'm going to eat very clean today. Cleansing smoothie for breakfast (shared with James) salad sans beans for lunch (still have some dressing left over from yesterday and mixed steamed veggies for dinner with Joel Fuhrman's asian sauce. Have a great day, stay warm and safe and keep moving foward.

I used to have a treadmill and I live in the Midwest, so I basically used in it the winter. LOL They're ok. I'd rather be outside, taking in the scenery. To combat boredom, you can use the programs, or create your own. So, you'd be going up inclines and changing speeds. You can also buy mp3 downloads to listen to while you run/walk, that tell you when to run, walk, change speed, or incline. A good play list is a must for me when running on a treadmill. Also, you should try to place it near a window. I had no choice but to put mine against a wall and that gave me a dread factor for using it.

I am not crazy about ellipticals, but they are good for people who need little-to-no impact options for cardio. My husband uses them for cardio and I have no idea how he does it; but to each, his or her own, yeah?

The stair climber is an evil device of torture. Pure, unadulterated boredom, imo.

But ultimately, I believe the best exercise is the one you enjoy and will do regularly. :)

We have a Proform elliptical we got from Sam's a few years back. My wife does 30 minutes to an hour on it every morning. I use it some, but not nearly as much as she does. We sold the treadmill because it was rarely used. We have the elliptical set up in a downstairs den next to a Total Gym I had to have, but never use. It is too cold to do a lot of outdoor walking here right now, but in warmer weather, the elliptical does not get used as we would both much rather be outside. Highly recommend the elliptical if you are dedicated to putting it to use. It works for us...your mileage may vary.

259...Weighed today. Down from a high of 290 or so. I don't like to get on the scales often...too depressing. Besides, if I don't weigh often then the results seem better. Had been putting off getting on the scales after the holidays. Did not overindulge as much as I thought. Been substituting at least a meal a day for green smoothies. Thought it was a hoax that you could mask the flavor of spinach and kale in a smoothie, but it works...I don't even have to use artificial sweetener, which I believe is very bad.
It was really hard cutting out diet soft drinks...very addictive, but I have not had one in weeks.
Attempting to lose the weight slowly...drastic diets don't work for me...or maybe that is just an excuse...but slow and steady seems more doable.
Also am having more salads with interesting ingredients. Last night I put leftover sausage links, black beans and jalapeño in with mixed greens and it was pretty good. Can't make it on boring salads.
Anyway just dropped in for an update. Everyone keep moving and keep motivating. I appreciate you!

That's awesome! Congrats!

There is nothing wrong with losing weight slowly. The important thing is you are making permanent changes to your lifestyle. If you went on a crash diet, you would not likely sustain your loss. The idea is to make healthful changes you can live with in the long term. Think about the tortoise and the hare. :)

Hello-
I've not worked on since Thursday. I've got some coughing/chest congestion thing going on. I'm feeling a bit better today, so I might jump back in with some yoga or something a little less intense than I had been doing.

It is going to be -12F, with a -41 F wind chill tomorrow. :arghh:

I am going to hibernate, wake me when it is mid-May. :geek:

Hello-

I am checking in with a DVD called Cardio Supersets. Nothing the most challenging work out ever, but it was just the right intensity after being sick. I was hoping to get back to yoga tomorrow, but my son's school called earlier today to let us know class is cancelled tomorrow.

I haven't had anytime alone in this house since December 20. I hope he goes back on Tuesday!

You are having some tough weather out there in Chi-town!! Just cold here today, and supposed to get colder tomorrow.

Did some weights and toning yesterday, and today was Minna Lessig's Fat Eliminator--strength & cardio circuits for 45 minutes. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow.

And does the 2 1/2 hours of housecleaning count? LOL

It's horrid here, Siobhan. I hope you guys don't get it, it kind of puts a damper on one's mood.

Enjoy the soreness! I have a love/hate relationship with delayed onset muscle soreness.

I have so many DVDs in cart at a website, but I have decided to be restrained this year (thus far). LOL

I hope so because I'm going to be spending the rest of today cleaning and putting away the Christmas stuff.
