Thanks. There are lots of scary rumors flying around right now w/r/t examiners positions in my husband's agency, but nobody has answers yet.
Project 2025 spelled out a million federal layoffs. Needed a trigger man - ie Elon Musk. For many - Be careful what you wished for.

I'd start with the bedrooms then the bathrooms then the rest of the home. That's a workout in itself.

Yeah, I always keep my kitchen and bathrooms super clean. Everywhere else just has some clutter. My house isn't dirty, I just need to purge things and find a place for things I am keeping.

Happy Friday. 🎉

I did a 42 minute cardio workout this morning. I'm just going through my old DVDs and downloads I bought so long ago. lol

It's still warm here, not like the past couple of days, but upper 60s, which is still warm for November. I'm thinking of sitting outside with a fire tonight. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. :)

I thought about doing a fire tonight but tomorrow might be a bit nicer so hopefully tomorrow.

Hello-

I did a low impact hiit workout and I went for a walk, since it's very warm outside.

My husband will not have a job next year. I am upset because he's a non-political civil servant; he's not a political appointee. I am not happy.

I'm so sorry about his job. There is a lot of uncertainty and worries right now. Hopefully we all weather it with minimal issues.

My house needs a serious cleaning and purge. I need to get cracking on that. It just feels a bit overwhelming and I don't know where to start. lol

I did something like that this weekend. I've been home while David is out in Arizona with Sam. We just never have much time to clean and Voodoo has been shedding like crazy. I emptied the canister for the big upright 4x and the little robot twice. I even got around to washing the big vacuum's filters. Not to get too psychological with it, but all of my deep cleaning at least felt like something I could control.

I'm so sorry about his job. I hate the uncertainty that comes with that. I'm looking at not having a job by then too, and it's really frustrating.

Not too get too political, but this was in the cards long before he got on board. It was in another document that was released earlier this year and his boss told him outright at the time. My husband is a federal bank examiner. They are short on examiners, because college grads are choosing to work in the actual banks, as it is much more lucrative. People are retiring and not enough people are being hired.

If Musk is so concerned with government efficiency, he should start by auditing the budgets in his federal contracts. Lead by example. I have a lot more to say about this, but it would likely be deleted.
Wow I read the incoming admin has formed DOGE - Dept of Govt Efficiency made up of Elon Musk and team whose plans are to decimate govt agencies by 50-75%. That's mind boggling.

Yeah, I've been cleaning bit by bit. My MIL doesn't show up until Friday, so I should be totally done by then. I have decided I am practicing purposeful disengagement for the next four years. I no longer watch the news. I have unsubscribed from newspapers save for one. If someone calls me a low class invective on social media, it's straight to block. I am not giving people with an agenda a dopamine hit. My time and my attention are for my family (and myself). I am buying any durable goods I might need to replace soon. I have bought 4 20 lbs bags of rice, lots of dried beans and half of a cow. I intend to participate in the economy as little as possible.

Oh, no, I am sorry to hear that. That does sound incredibly frustrating! :(. Is business slow? Have you started looking for a new one? Hopefully, they change their mind and keep you on.

Yes, a government efficiency program with two leaders, how efficient.

They are looking for people with "super high IQs willing to work 80+ hours a week with zero compensation" to help them cut costs. JMO, but I think he wants to replace workers with contractors.

Yep a number of companies like to use contractors in that when the job and or contract is done and finished they are off the payroll. Musk is not just a visionary and the richest guy in the world he’s a workaholic and demands his staff do the same work ethic.

I was thinking contract workers or privatizing the workforce. But I'll stop, I don't want to get reported for talking about politics. I've probably been pushing it, TBH.

I hope you guys got to have your fire. Even though my fire pit is fueled by propane, I decided not to have one. We're in a drought and there are wild fires popping up all over. I didn't want to have a leaf of something fall on the fire and set off another fire.

Turned out it rained the next day and it has been windy and dry around here too. Our fire pit is propane as well, but we don't want anything set off anything either.

Hello-

I have been going through my old workouts. I dug out my old step and did a few step workouts. I did a workout I haven't done in about 12 years lol. I was a little rusty, but I remembered there were parts of this step workout that I had some difficulty with the choreography. I also noticed how trends have changed. There older workouts are very repetitive, like doing lots of sets and reps of the same exercise. I think nowadays people don't like a lot of repetitiveness in their workouts, so instructors switch up exercises in the workout. I did struggle with keeping myself engaged and wondered how I did these workouts 10-15 years ago. lol

I am thinking of going back yoga. We're approaching the holiday season and it might help tame the anxiety around it. I'll see how I feel Monday.

Callie is spending a lot of time in our house, thankfully, she lets us close the door now. We just have to keep an eye on her, and when it looks like she wants to leave, we beat her to the door to open it. One time, she was freaked out by it and hustled outside, but then she realized she wanted to come back in. So, we let her back into sleep. 😂

Here is a photo of Callie napping in my lap.

You've done a great job with Callie. 🥰 She trusts you, and finally realizes that this is her new home now! :cat:

Contract workers are realistically essential to companies bottom line. Use their talents to complete projects then the company no longer needs them but usually plenty of other areas in the country and world where contract workers relocate to start their next projects with other companies.

I've seen a number of people making suggestions on things to purchase now. Much of what has been suggested aren't things we need. Nothing suggested ticked any boxes for us, but I'm trying to determine if there's anything I'm missing that we really should consider. I have started my annual turkey stocking, but that's nothing new.

I've pulled back from a number of people and news sources. I really need to do more for my sanity. Mind you, many of the people we're pulling away from already were issues before anything political entered the mix. My MIL has really gone off the deep end. There have been issues with our relationship with her for nearly 2 decades, so it's much more than politics. I left it to DH to decide, but he's already chosen to say no to Thanksgiving and Christmas at her place. She was already skating on thin ice last Christmas and there have been many years we've avoided her altogether because of the junk that goes on in her home.

She took a nap in my lap Sunday night. Unfortunately, because of her nerve damage, she peed on me. 😂 I knew it was a matter of time. I just threw my pants in the wash and myself into the shower. I'd love to get her checked out by a vet someday and I am hoping I can do that as she becomes more comfortable.

My husband thinks his agency might be spared because their pay does not come from appropriations. Their pay comes from the banks that want to do business in the US. But JIC, my husband is low key looking at other places to work and talking to head hunters when they contact him instead telling them he's not interested.
