If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Although to be fair, this is coming from a woman who only wears makeup maybe 5 times a year and I mostly don't even use foundation, just a bit of eye makeup and maybe lipstick if I'm going to be on stage. I'm not an expert on makeup by any stretch. I HAVE a bottle of foundation that I occassionally use, but I think I bought it when I still lived in the states and that was over 20 years ago. So.....no judgement here for sure. I think makeup is a pain in the patootie, and I really have no clue how to pick a new one if I needed to, so I just don't. I do replace my mascara probably yearly to avoid pinkeye, but other than that, I have the same stuff that I bought in college for concerts because stage lights wash you out. I totally get not wanting to mess with a new one if you don't have to.

I don't wear it a lot, either. It's just for when we dine out or we go some social gathering. I did get a new bottle. I went to the Estee Lauder website and they had a discount for your first order. I also did their shade matching and I was recommended a color for my skin color. I ordered that one, it's almost too light, but it doesn't look bad if I apply it with a brush. I can exchange it for another color. But I think I'll keep it. It does perform way better than my old bottle, though. I went out for a walk with it on and it was still there when I got back. Plus, my skin was still matte-looking. Foundation is the only component I spend a lot on. When I try to go cheap, it turns orange, settles into my pores, or just can't handle my oil slick skin. 😅

Hello-

I did a glute workout yesterday. These are not my favorite types of workouts, but you have to make sure your workouts are balanced. lol.

I made two lasagnas today. One for lasagna love and the other for us. I really don't like lasagna in the summer. It's too heavy, but my husband likes it and he can take some up to his apartment.

My husband got home at 2 AM. He was supposed to be home at 9, but his flight kept getting delayed. They were getting ready to back away from the gate and the captain said they were overweight, so they had to take 10,000 lbs of fuel from the tanks. 🫤 That took 30 min., after that, they had 15 planes ahead of them taking off. 🛫 He was sending me cranky texts. Lol.

Callie came back today. She missed her second dose of dewormer, but she looks so much better. She is not as gaunt as she was the last time she came back. So I guess it worked. I might start it over again, but she’s so unpredictable. Sometimes she’s here for a week, sometimes she’s here for 2 or 3 weeks. I have to give her a second dose 10-14 days after the first.

Good morning- ☀️

I wanted a workout that was brief, but intense and sweaty. So, I did a workout that was a mix of kettlebell swings, jump rope and bodyweight exercises. 🔥🔥🔥

I had this crazy dream Friday and I am still trying to make sense of it. In this dream, I was in bed and I heard a woman screaming outside it woke me up in from my sleep (in my dream!), and I said to my husband maybe I should call 911. He told me to wait, that it might be teens messing around. I could pin point where the noise was coming from and then I heard someone running up the side of my house. I woke up, scared. I was wondering if it was dream or if there was actually screaming that woke me up. I looked out the window and saw nothing. So, I figured it was just a dream. I asked my son if he heard anything when I saw him on Saturday AM and he did not. We were talking last night and I mentioned that I saw a fox on my walk on Friday in front of our next door neighbor's house. She is not really next door, since there is a stream between our houses, but close enough. My son suggested that maybe that was the screaming I heard Friday night. It makes sense, since it was just screaming I heard and not words. It just seemed so real. Also, the side of the house I was hearing the screaming from is the side where my neighbor's house is. It's a stream and woods between our houses, so it makes sense a fox might hang out in that area. The whole thing was so weird, because it was a dream within a dream. lol

I have had dreams at times very bizarre. After taking melatonin I get the side effects while in a deep sleep - wild dreams.

I used to have frequent episodes of sleep paralysis going back to when I was very young. It only happens now if I sleep too long. The last time it happened was when I had covid and I had been sleeping a ton.

Hello-

I did another kettlebell & jump rope workout. I also got out for a walk, since it's not stifling hot or thickly humid outside. It's actually quite enjoyable to be outside. I have been thinking of bringing my jump rope and KB outside in the mornings, since it's been in the low 60s in the AM.

My son is flying to Chicago on Friday. I am little nervous. He has flown many times, but never alone. He is on the spectrum and he shuts down if he feels overwhelmed. He had TSA Pre Check, but it expired. He was trying to renew it, but he realized he lost his UK passport and needs that to renew. It's only going through security that gets to him. I am worried he will leave something like his laptop or his phone behind from feeling overwhelmed. There is a phone number where you can call the TSA 48 hours before your flight and I guess discuss ways of going through security. I am not sure. My husband is going with him up to the point where you show your ID. I am not worried about him getting to the gate on time or anything like that. My mom is picking him up at Midway (which is much better than O'Hare if you have sensory and or crowd issues), so that's going to make it easier for him, too. You can get a lanyard with a sunflower on it once you go through security and that means you have an invisible disability. It signals to airport employees that you might need a little extra assistance. They have this in the Chicago airports, too, so he can wear it when he flies home.

I just cannot get over that she can't keep her hands to herself.--she's an adult! This is would send me into a rage. I hate when people I don't know touch me uninvited. Is she just immature and maybe needs your boss to sit down with her and tell her it's inappropriate to touch other people and there is an expectation to be a team player?
She's very immature, but I don't think sitting down with her would help. The boss already had a few talks with her about showing up on time and about being a team player and that you let the whole team down if you are late, etc...she was late several times after that, and even when she's there, she does hardly anything. But she'll be gone in a week. The boss came back today, which was an event, let me tell you. She's going to give her the boot this weekend if Rana can work Monday. Otherwise she'll give her the boot Monday.

So today was the boss' first day back after vacation. I get to work and she was waiting outside because I had the key. I noticed she was a little bit pink, but she was just on vacation, and it's really hot the last couple of days, so I figured she got a little sun. We go inside, she turns on the lights, we go to the break room and she says she needs the bathroom. She comes back and she's red and she says she thinks she's having an allergic reaction to something. She feels like her face is swelling, and she's itchy and warm. Ramona and I noticed last night when we were closing that there were several wasps above the door. So I ask her if she just started feeling this since we were inside, and she said no, it started outside. So I asked her if she had felt a sting or a bite or something. No. Did she eat anything new for breakfast, no. She has no idea what's going on. So I ask her if she can breathe ok, because if she can't breathe, that's very serious, but no, she can still breathe just fine. So I suggest calling the doctor to see what she should do. Then our intern arrived...it's her first week back from vacation, too, but she doesn't get paid and she can't run the register or anything. So by this time, the boss is really red and she's starting to itch on her arms, too. Then she sits down, puts her head in her hands and says her head hurts. So I'm like....you need to go to the doctor! But it's her first day back, and if she leaves, I'm there alone. She Doesn't want to make me open without her. But, I've opened and closed with Bissan, which is basically doing it alone. A medical emergency is a medical emergency.

So it's getting worse and she's crying, head still in her hands and she's feeling miserable and is getting more and more red. I tell her she should call the doctor and see if they have advice, but she doesn't say anything. So I ask her if she can still breathe, do I need to call an ambulance? No answer. So I wait, and I look at the intern, who looks concerned, but has no insights to share. So I ask her again if I need to call an ambulance. Still no answer. So I jump up to grab my phone from my locker and tell her I'm calling, and she says no, she'll call her doctor. She hands the keys back to me and tells me to count the tills and open the store. So I was getting everything going, and she comes out of the break room. She's trying to call her husband to come get her to take her to the doctor. But now she's dizzy as well. So she goes back to the break room while I finish the morning routine. She had the intern go next door to get allergy meds. I made sure she called our regional manager to let her know what's going on and she says she already called her and was told to leave immediately, which means I'm on my own, but she has to wait for someone to come pick her up because she can't drive like this. Her parents get there to take her to the doc, so I'm there by myself for a few hours. She had tried to get someone to come in and cover, but couldn't. This means there's no one else to do cash register or anything, so I can't take a break at all until someone else is there. I got my first break of the day just before 1pm. The doc gave her something and the itch was gone, so she just came back....no one responded in the whatsapp group. She's still not feeling 100%. She's weak and tired and achy, but at least she was back to her normal color and she wasn't itching, etc. No idea what caused it, and hopefully she'll feel better tomorrow. But it was a very stressful day.

But she talked to Ramona last night about Bissan, and she asked me about my experiences with her, and I gave basically the same account as Ramona...that even when she's on time, she doesn't WORK, that she acts like the boss, that she has quite the mouth, etc. She said she's going to tell her this weekend or Monday that she doesn't need to come back. So she'll be gone in a week.

Wow. That sounds frightening. I hope you are recognized for going above and beyond. They would have been in a pickle if you hadn't been there to cover that shift. At least Bissan will be history in a week. Good riddance.

Hello-

Checking in with a jump rope/pull up bar/dumbbell workout. I went out for a long walk, too.

I found this travel YouTube channel yesterday and she had a video about TSA Cares. There are TSA agents who are specially trained to assist people with different issues and disabilities and there are alternate ways to do the screening. So, my son filled out an online form yesterday with his flight info and explained that he gets overwhelmed easily and that causes him to shut down. He can't follow instructions when he's like that. He also said he needed extra time. I thought he was flying into Midway, but he's actually flying into O'hare. But the TSA Cares coordinator at O'Hare emailed him today and gave him a number to call when he arrives at the airport and an agent will meet him at the airline ticket desk for his return flight. The agent will take him to security and they will do the screening. He hasn't heard back from anyone at Philadelphia yet, but he's still got time. I am grateful they have this service for people. It's for people with all sorts of medical issues.

It's good they have that!! Does he like to travel? A doesn't like being away from home and we've kind of learned that long trips are no fun for him. I really want to go to Disney/Universal for my 50th birthday, or probablly actually 51st so E is 21 and legal to share drinks with me, since I don't drink much. And I know that A wants to go to Epic Universe to do the Mario land there, but if we're flying that long, I'm not only going for a few days to a week....I'm staying for several weeks. But I don't know how we'll do that with A, and my husband isn't a Disney fan either, so I kind of think he's going to be a party pooper. I'd rather go with just E, but A can't go by himself and he won't want to stay as long as we do. I don't know how to work it out. Is this JUST a chicago service or does every airport have this? It would certainly help if A could travel independently

No, it's not just a Chicago service, so A could definitely use it. It's TSA, so it's federal and (theoretically) it should be available at all airports. So, if A is departing from MCO, someone who coordinates this service there will respond to you, if you are filling out the form for him. He hasn't heard from PHL yet and he filled out the form, I was kind of doubtful he would. TSA is crap here and I will be providing feedback to TSA if he doesn't hear from anyone. I think it's a prerequisite to be a jerk to work at PHL and this goes for airline employees and food service workers, too, not just TSA. I hope they surprise me today, but I am not holding my breath. My husband is going with him tomorrow and is going to stay with him up until security.

My guess is MCO is probably pretty responsive and efficient with this service. They have a high volume of passengers, so they see adults and children with different medical needs and different kinds of support required for travelers every day, especially since Give Kids the World is down there and a lot of Make a Wish children visit WDW.

This is the video I watched that I found very helpful. This video is specifically about traveling with autism, she has a more general video about TSA Cares.

Good morning-

I did a very sweaty 50 min. circuit training workout. I felt like I needed something sweaty and challenging today. I am going for a walk later today.

Nothing much is going on today. Callie's flea and tick chewable tablets showed up from NZ. It took a couple of attempts, but she ate most of it. I broke up the tablet and mixed it into some tuna I pureed for her. She is not scratching and biting herself frantically anymore. It was hard to watch and I was having trouble getting the topical treatment on her. She would sense me putting it on her and she would run away. This is much easier and it's a relief for the both of us. These tablets are available only through a vet's prescription here, but I found an Australian pet supply company that will ship to the US. Obviously, I am not a veterinarian (and I would take her to one if I could, but they will not treat feral cats), but I am making sure there are no interactions between this treatment and the intestinal worm treatment. I am also spacing out the treatments. I am honestly doing the best I can with her given the limitations I have with her. :)

She is looking much more "robust" these days lol

Good morning-

This morning's workout was about 40 min. I got to use my discs, my kettlebell, jump rope and dumbbells. It was challenging, but quick.

My son never heard from the TSA at PHL. I went to the PHL airport website to see if there was any TSA contact information. Instead, I found this pass the airport offers called "wing mate". It allows you to go through security to accompany someone or to meet someone at the gate in the domestic terminals. So, my husband signed up for that and got one. That might be better than TSA Cares, especially at PHL. I ended up missing my blood draw this AM trying to sort this out, BUT I found out that my PPO does cover Quest Diagnostics, so I am going in a few days. I looked to reschedule at Labcorp, the earliest I could get an appointment that wasn't at 11:30 was Sept 6. I can't fast that long. lol I'll take my wins where I can get them. There are many more Quest Labs near me with loads of appointments, so this will be better in the long run.

My son is unvaxxed and refuses to wear a mask. I am working on the assumption he will be getting covid on this trip. He didn't catch it when my husband brought it back from his work trip to Ireland. I am just hoping I don't get sick again. My husband and I are going away to celebrate our 25th anniversary in a few weeks. I have been looking forward to this all year. I will be livid if I have cancel. It was such a good deal through Costco Travel; it came with $100/day resort credit, too. But I am hoping I still have antibodies from late June.

I've been having a hard time falling asleep for a few days, and when I do sleep, it's not good quality sleep. Yesterday, I woke up with swollen glands and a slightly sore throat, but I thought it could have been that we slept with the fan on all night because it was so hot this past week. But last night it took AGES to fall sleep, because every time I'd get ALMOST to sleep, I'd snore and it would startle me awake. My glands are just too swollen for me to breathe properly once I fall asleep. So I decided to test this morning and I'm positive for covid. It's not bad right now, but if the other times I've had it are any indication, it's going to be much worse in a few days. And it's bad timing because the boss either gave Bissan the boot yesterday, or is giving her the boot tomorrow, Ramona and Chantal both have vacation this week (last week before the kids go back to school), so there are only 3 of us to cover the entire week, which means I can't call in sick. I'm really hoping this time it's not as bad.

Thanks. I'm a little worse today...stuffy nose, slight fever, but still nothing compared to other times I've had it...yet. I'm trying to keep myself from using nasal spray, since it's addictive and I always end up feeling WAY worse as it wears off and I have to wait to take another dose. I'm hoping that if I don't use nasal spray, I won't get too bad.

Blah! I am sorry you have covid. This was just my experience, but my last bout in June was more mild for me. I still felt bad, but I didn't have any fever this time. Hopefully, it's mild this time for you. I found staying super hydrated helped make me feel less bad. I hope you're on the mend very soon.

Good morning. It's been ages since I posted. Life has been pretty chaotic, but I'm posting here so I can try and inspire myself to work out later on today. There's still a ton going on, but I'm thinking it's calming enough that I can do something.

My ankle is still not well enough to wear shoes with a back, so no real walking. Walking around Disneyland for 3 days without good shoes was pretty miserable. I guess at least all of the blisters are gone. Things have healed enough that I think I should be able to manage the stationary bike. The injury is improving...it's just slow. So maybe biking and moving will help bring more circulation to the area to help speed things up.

Beyond that, let's see...
- Sam's summer travel season wrapped up a few weeks ago. I ended up doing a trip report for that one because we were at a Disneyland Good Neighbor, right on top of Disney property, and ended with three days at the parks. Kendall decided to stay home, which made for a bit of an empty feeling. Fall play for Sam won't start until October, but there will be scrimmages and collegiate camps before all that starts up. While most of her fall schedule with the team will keep her in state, we have one in FL, one in AZ, and we're keeping an eye on camps and camp invites...since a few she'd like are out of state.
- Our vehicle situation from the May storm still is ongoing. I got mine back before we drove to CA, but they installed the wrong windshield and didn't reconnect everything. So, my HUD didn't have all of its features, the mounting around my rearview mirror came apart, my antenna wasn't connected, and my rear vents also weren't connected properly. They replaced the windshield again about 2 weeks ago, reattached the antenna, and maybe did the rearview thing correctly (it's still rattling and may be slipping some), but the vents are still off. So, it's going back in today. David will be taking his truck back in later on this week so hopefully they can fix the CEL once and for all.
- As for hurricane damage, all of our debris is gone, but we still need to fix our fence. I just gathered recommendations, so maybe it'll get done this week. It would be really nice to get back to being able to let Voo outside without supervision. I know she runs around more without us out there. She's also recovering from an issue that landed us at the emergency vet the other night. It's an issue that plagues some dogs, but it's never been a problem for her before. The description of the issues gets auto censored by the forum tech, so no point in typing it, but I feel like she probably naturally expresses these glands when things are more normal with her outdoor situation.
- Kendall started college. Today is her first day of classes. Move in was last Tuesday. Sam was already in school and someone needed to be home for her, so it was just me moving her in. Her boyfriend was originally also going to come along to help, but they ended up breaking up 4 days before she left for school. Thankfully, everything fit into my vehicle and I managed to make it up and back in a day without any hotel stays. We left the Houston area just before 4am and I got home a little after midnight the next morning (after being in Norman for nearly 8 hours). I really didn't have to do much. After check in at one of the school's arenas, we pulled up to the dorm and crews of people swarmed the vehicle and loaded her stuff into huge boxes on industrial sized carts...labeling everything as it went in. The only thing they wouldn't take was her tv, which I brought to her later in the day via a shuttle bus. By the time she and I got back to the dorm (had to drive back to the arena and take a shuttle bus), all of her stuff was in her room...ready to be unpacked and set up. Rooms are small, so I left her and her roommates to figuring most of that out. The only real snafu came after move in. The next day, while she was out at a freshman camp, facilities came in and lofted her bed in error. She's so short that she couldn't get in. They were running behind, so she wound up sleeping on the floor. David and I called about it as well and escalated it when we found out that it was going to be a week or two before they could get to it.

So, that's the update...and hopefully I'll get to bike later. My nerves are shot, so I think I need it.

Good morning-

I slept in today. But I still did a workout. It was a 55 minute full body, strength training workout with some cardio sprinkled in.

My son's flight didn't get until after midnight, because there were storms here. They held the flight in Chicago. He was supposed to land at 8. But he got his first solo flight in. I did file a complaint with TSA about the TSA in PHL never responding to my son. I just got a canned response. Allegedly, my complaint will be forwarded to someone at PHL, but it's going to be deleted after it's read. I expect nothing to happen, because TSA is notoriously rubbish at PHL. The whole airport is like a giant, dirty Greyhound station. My next 2 flights are out of Newark. When Newark looks better by comparison, you know you've dropped the ball.

I had a good weekend. We went to a sports bar/crab house Friday night and ate on their patio. They had live music, too. It was great timing, because the rest of the weekend was on and off rain and t-storms.
