Work on mansion

I wouldn't mind seeing HMH on a temporary basis. Is it done for Christmas or Halloween at DLR??

I thought I remembered reading (might have even been on these boards) that Tim Burton had axed the idea of HMH at WDW because he 'didn't want his characters stretched too thin' (his words, not mine. I already think they're stretched pretty thin)? Does anyone else have info on that?

Hi all. Got back yesterday from WDW and I took the Keys of the Kingdom tour while I was there. When we had lunch, it was at the Columbia House and we could see over the fence into the front court.

On 6/14 there was a guy moving around the coach and tombs with a video camera. My guess is that while they have it down they might as well tape some promos of the empty courtyard.

I did ask our tour guide, Lillia, and all she could tell us was that they are changing the attic scene over to be more like the DL version with the suitors and a better bride. And still no rumors on the "ring" either.

I would be very unhappy if it is indeed a Nightmare Before Christmas thing, especially if it were something permanent.

I like it the way it is--I'm all for refurb, but not major changes.:fork:

Same here! If NBC was added it would totally kill off any of the magic feeling that HM gives you.

Hopefully this will be the same for the refurb of SSE...no major changes, just a update.

It's been discussed many times why they will not do the NBC overlay. While those of you who visit all the time might think a temporary overlay is all fine and dandy, the majority of us who take a week-long vacation every year or two would be mighty irritated if we visited in September or January, when the Mansion would be closed each year, or if we visited between those dates, and saw a version of the ride that is not what we expect. It simply does not work with WDW's target audience, while it is perfect for the Annual Passholder-friendly Disneyland. It would seem to me that this proposed nightly change is a much more tourist-friendly overlay, as every guest, regardless of when they visit, would have an opportunity to see both versions. I only wonder what WDI considers "night", since most of the year, the Magic Kingdom closes shortly after sunset (even in the summer, we'd only be talking about 2 hours with the new version, and what are they going to do in the winter? Start the night version at 3 pm? This seems like something that would be the most beneficial to Evening Extra Magic Hours guests, but it does sound like quite the investment for 1 or 2 nights a week. We'll have to see how it plays out.

I think it would be pretty reliant on Evening EMH. Although MK is open until 10pm or 11pm often enough, I think something like this might help them market EMH better, and thus, get more people into Disney hotels. Also would help market the hard ticket events. While one evening variant may not seem like enough to draw people to Disney owned hotels, we have (anticipated) refurbs of Jungle Cruise and Space Mountain soon, too, wonder what those could have in store...

This is great news that so much attention is being given to this classic attractions. HM has been my all time favorite ride since I was a little kid.

We will be in WDW this week (starting tomorrow:sohappy: ), so I will miss getting to ride it. However I've already told my wife I'm taking my own special trip down this fall to go ride HM when it reopens, whether she joins me or not. :ROFLOL:

I'll be sure to try and take some pictures this week while I'm down, if there is anything visible from behind the gate I'll try to snap a few pics for you guys.

a properly budgeted nighttime overlay of Space Mountain would rock (but hopefully not be Rockin'), and Jungle Cruise is already best at night...they would just need to add some great themed lighting. I hesitate to think of the lines we could see at night, though. If the Disneyland overlays are any measure, it'll be very tricky trying to get on Space at night, even without a nighttime overlay (not that it has short lines, now, but it doesn't approach the lines the DL version now sees).

Do you even know what the NBC overlay really is? WDW's HM may never get this overlay, I agree. But most of you who are complaining don't even know what it is :lookaroun Don't judge it unless you've seen it for yourself. Thanks

2) The schedule of the refurb coincides with Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween. If there wasn't going to be anything special besides the refurbitseld, why not schedule the refurb later?
They want it open for MNSSH parties...it would be hard to have the event's signature attraction down. That'd be like closing Pirates and Fantasyland for the P&P Party

I like the idea of keeping it close to the way it is because even if the DL version is "better", I like the fact that they're different. I have a reason to go to DL one day. If everything is carbon copy, I probably wouldn't
